on Another Memoir by Shatner
The ¨Mental velcro¨......I like that phrase I also like ¨Wounded Buffalo beat¨ as a concept, but I realize that's a shout-out. Buffalo (Stance)...Neneh Cherry. "an attitude you have to have in order to get by. It's not about fashion but about survival in inner cities and elsewhere." Sometimes i have to take a srtep back and not focus on the musical aspect of Hip Hop, but the Lyrical content. As always you deliver that.
Carry on mate.

on Everybody Knows Backing Track by EricMilligan
A very nice instrumental mix of this. I don't think anyone can touch Sigrid's signature vocals on this tune. But hats off to anyone who trys. Nice sound.

I definitely agree with you on Sigrid's vocal, Steve. Really a unique take on Cohen's song.

I've tried to find info on the producers/arrangers, but haven't been successful. Piano and strings. I think I did add a sound effect hit in some sections, but it's really kind of an usual arrangement.

Used Realivox Ladies plugin for the backing vocals on the chorus section. It worked fine for "every" "body" but not so well for "knows". But, I set it back in the mix so I think it really isn't noticeable.

on Giving up on love Dj ARN Original Mix by djarn
I like the vox loop, this is true classic House with a modern twist. This is a mix of Warehouse/paradise old style with some modern ideas. cool tune.

Thanks a lot ! I really love old school house, I'm just trying to sound fun, but I really would like to innovate and do something different, I hope to do it soon, greetings :)

on Youjin Trey - Dark Magic by YoujinTrey
I do enjoy the throat singing in this, and you have created a really cool atmosphere with a great sound and nice mixing. Not sure the drill drums are the best percussion for this tune, but you can have some fun and remix with other styles of percussion if You wish.

Thank you)
Alas, I couldn't find Chinese drums. They would just merge together, but I don't have them :(

on Youjin Trey - KKKIlla by YoujinTrey
You Know, I´m an abstract artist on this site for quite some time. That's one of the best intros I´ve ever heard to a song here mate. Minimalistic, but yet so cutting. great mix. This is good.

Good evening my friend. Very nice Joe Jackson Stepping out" like intro. Then some whirling dervishes (very moog like sounds). Very trance-inducing, beautiful mix as always. great job. BTW Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

on M-ilios - Run The Show by ts61
I like the intro and build-up to the vox. But after that, there is not much substance to this track. it needs more intensity in the ¨Chorus¨, and the compression is way too much.

on Salvager by HeathAlexander
Awesome creativity. I like this one a lot. That wide Slap clap is awesome, and the pads are very cool, side-chained very tastefully. Like a queasy ambient dub. A new genre you could call QAB. Great work.

Thank you. I like stacking claps and snares and spreading them out. I really don't know how to classify this one. I took a lot of inspiration from drum and bass, but I emphasized the instruments more than the rhythm. It's definitely queasy and ambient.

trippy and jazzy. Your delivery has a very slick rick (awesome for it) feel to it (sans British accent). And that silky sexy female vox, is killer. Great job.

on Every Day by Micky
Ahh Yes, there are two forms of funk. Traditional instruments and the new funk as we approached the eighties, using synths (Prince, Cameo, Rick James, etc) This falls in that latter category and is an awesome job you did. You really captured the Zeitgeist of that time. Awesome space in the mix. Great groove, I was bobbin along Good work!
Micky
Micky replied 24th Dec 2020 - 5 years ago
Thanks Steven! That's right. I grew up with funk and Disco in all it's incarnations and now it appears absurd to me, picking just one and trying to do that "most authentic". I feel that today composing in an ecclectical way is all that one can do to be original. I am happy when the few that listen here are happy and as far as I get it they are. Maybe tomorrow I'll have the absolute unique, original dream and then I'll tell myself that I'd found my true self ;-)
Thanks again for listening and your friendly comment!
Cheers and Feliz Navidad,
Micky

Marco, Somewhere between Joe Jackson ¨Steppin out¨ and Berlin´s the ¨Metro¨ this song sweetly belongs, but I love the analog sweeps. It even has hints of Vince Clarkes Depeche Mode days. And yet it definably is your sound mate. Great job as always bringing the synth sound of the eighties to a sophisticated ennui of 2020.
Your Friend (if I were Italian I would take four fingers to my lips and move them away while making a Moahh Sound.) That's how good this is.
