Verry interesting track. I like the house feel. The Santana guitar solo fits perfect. This was a satisfying journey of a listen. Title fits the production. Nice work. PEACE. T576 OUT.

Bringer, where are you and Jynxz headed on Psychedelic Drive? Did you guys get pulled over by the funk police? You definitely made the trip. This is way too funky. It's interesting how you structured this arrangement from start to finish. You ground hard at the creativity mill as I heard you playing melodies on guitar from "Slices of Funk". Your sax is right on point and Jynxz's keys are a perfect fit. Awesome all around and yes I've favorited this funkyness! Be Safe

I'm pretty sure your ears are better than mine.

You are correct, I took "tiny jam," "slices of funk," and three of jynxz's incomplete tracks' (with and without stems) and transposed/arranged them into this, adding a bunch of things of course.

Some of my older stuff (more last year) is actually intentional song structure avoidance (lots of key/tempo/instrumentation change), or two or three movements with their own motifs, within a 3-5 min framework (the average listener gets bored in about 45 sec to 3 min anyway).

The sax tone is pretty brittle, but I never had much of a creamy vibrato anyway, and the music doesn't really call for it.

Gotta be careful making stuff with jynxz, between the two of us it can go all modern-day "zappa" pretty quick.

Thanks for the listen and fav.

Oh DOOM, I finally get to here you, the guys talk you up, this my first of you and wow that sax solo, i was never a fan of jazz until I came here, I now done a few myself and love it,but this is more than jazz it's a fussion of wierdness with great sound production and variety, the mix is great, Jynxz work is fly I tell him often enough as is his stuff with Micky, now you, :) I'm a bloody lucky guy, I think

Thanks for the kind words. I decided to break out the sax recently, hadn't played it since I was a kid in school.

Had to take a break to get some career advancement lined out, but I got new stuff coming.

Yeah, had to get some career stuff lined out (my job got too easy so it was time to increase complexity). I have 2 projects of yours half done that ended up sitting for a month. I will wrap them up soon. Feel free to send me ideas like before and I will sketch them out. You've got a grasp of the wub dubs and "808s" that is hard to beat (pun intended).

Talk to you soon.

sounds pretty dope, the mix got nice air, its fluffy! and the variation of sounds.. just nice.

Fluffy is a great word choice. I was thinking "fuzzy" or "saturated." I was going for that "wall of sounds" from back in the day.

been missing your guys particular madness. not sure what i liked the best, the periods of semi sanity and reflection, or the full on fusion of funkiness and jazz. crazy good sound and mix too.
bringerofDOOM
bringerofDOOM replied 8th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
Well, had to get some work stuff lined out and ready to bring the madness back after the "period of reflection" (you pretty much nailed it). Also if been messing around with a cover band so I learned like 90+ songs in a week. I used it to study song structure, which I had never actually done, because I never bothered to learn any songs (since I know most of the theory). I have a new respect for learning simple songs.

You bringerofDoom. Impressiv fusion work. You nailed the dark and brighter themes in this song. It´s a nice urban jazz thing. Miles Davis would walk on this shit again. is the guitar work from you ?
bringerofDOOM
bringerofDOOM replied 8th Sep 2021 - 4 years ago
I do the guitar and sax work on my tracks most of the time, depending on the context (I do all the lead). If I use a guitar loop it is usually rare and I give credit to the artist. I do a mix of sax, guitar, keys, drums, loops and samples, chops, pretty much wherever the mood takes me. I've watched way too many production tutorials :)

Mentioning Miles Davis is a high compliment; I appreciate the kind words.

Thanks for the comment. I've been hard core technical death metal for years, and just recently got in to the fusion idiom (other than jazz band in grade school and a robust music theory background).

I blame jynxz :P

Thanks. Classy is a great compliment. I'm still fairly new to production, but I've absorbed a ton of tutorials and read a couple textbooks.

Glad you liked it.

Wild Intro. Retro style with future electro. Guitar almost had a Santana-like feel. I think we can call this AI-Jazz, as the robots who will take our jobs are gonna love this at their oil bars after a long day of assembling things. Superb composition and assembly as well as an awesome mix, fav´d. Nice Phrygian mode solo at 3:42. Coda at 4:02 brings it home Massive ending mate, loved it.

Thanks, I took about 6 songs worth of incomplete material (between me and Jynxz), chopped it all to hell, arranged it, and soloed over it. The spastic-ness really kicks in at the end.

Inspired by a track of Pseudoble. I was noodling along to his track "I wish I didn't know" (which is awesome) and had the words "Snow in Athens" in my head. This with the smooth jazz/fusion atmosphere led me to this track with a sort of Steely Dan feel.

Description : Psychedelic blues hip hop with lead banjo and acoustic resonator slide guitar. Acoustic drum kits, fat basslines, soaring filtered strings, some strong Eastern elements (from guitar and strings), some dub and funk from the bass and drums and a bit of rocking electric guitar. Very unusual piece of music and a trip like no other I've heard. Some of it is like a dark, deep Southern delta blues track over a hip hop and dub backing. All played and programmed by me, no loops used.

After a quite turbulent long travel we’ve reached a totally unknown planet which is mostly covered with clouds. As we pass over it we can see parts of rivers through the clouds that come out of the dark rocky surface in some places. So the whole scene is alternating textures of white, dark gray and silver flashes. Unfortunately there’s no chance to land anywhere so we just pass, wonder and travel on …
