What a cool tune. I love the stabs and the chord choices. And a nice displacement of eq frequencies. And that it´s different than most of the Pop crap out there now. It's a really good tune. I fav´d
Hej! Bass is the star here. Was over before I could really get into it but you have something special beginning, have fun with it. And Merry Christmas to you and your family. And a Happy New Year.
Thank you for the welcome back! I'm doing okay considering the adventures of the last couple of years. Too much to go into really, but thank you for asking!
Awesome production, that bass (sub frequency) is really strong but actually works well on a good system as Roberto kind of mentions but maybe is a tad too much for this kind of song which is sweet and has like you said a Toto like sound. (Toto was one of the most underrated group of musicians ) . I did enjoy this listen, mate. good work as usual.
Thanks Cru. Working in a manufacturing plant for 30+ years, I'm surprised I have any hearing left. So I usually turn up the bass because my innards are accustomed to persistent low frequency excitation.
Nailed it mate, I have no comments other than that because you simply nailed it! So I´m just gonna sit back with this glass of sherry and just enjoy what you did and turn off the hemisphere of my brain that analyzes things and just bloody enjoy it.
I like the Piano on this, gives a nice deep house vibe. The 16 beat Hi-hat gives some motion to the rhythm. Just a curious mastering question. How much DB headroom are you giving before you compress the mix?
Thanks for listen and comment crucethus. =) I usually leave between 3-6 db headroom before I master depending on how dynamic the peak level of the track is.
Very nice Eric, I hope you and the family have been and still are safe in this covid environment. I am afraid it (Covid) is not done with us just yet. Listening to this you did an awesome job with stereo separation and depth of the mix, as well as the EQ is just spot on. Myself, I have been doing some Italo disco lately which is out of my comfort zone, but still fun to make. https://www.youtube.com/user/bognorlittle

thanks for the comment. Yes, we are both fine. Got our booster shots a couple of days ago. Still, keeping our heads down, so to speak. I agree, COVID is not done with us yet.
thanks for the info on the YT channel. I will check it out. Sounds interesting!
Nice Intro indeed. In the second verse, we need some (Maybe Vocoded) harmony (Going up on the msuical scale) on the chorus ¨Say Nothing¨ which will elevate this tune into another dimension. Its a really good tune and the music is spot on. a few quick additions here and there and you will have a commercial winner mate. I liked this one quite a bit.
Ahh Yes, The Orb´s ¨Little Fluffy Clouds" remixed by Danny is what I meant. I was mixing that song with ¨loft in Paradise" from his back to mine series. Must be my age catching up to me (lol).
That's perfectly fine crucethus. Thank you. And the age thing? You and me both. Memory lapses abound!
But that 'Little Fluffy Clouds' tune is so good. Absolutely love it. I found two different Danny one is a 'Detour' mix and then a 'Downtempo' mix. I prefer the 'Downtempo' one.
Again thanks for bringing it up and if you have any others you like let me know =)
Very cool. I really loved the last 3rd of the track. you put a lot of attention to detail in this one, it is very good. I wish you warm greetings and pleasant days.
Beautiful Ella, very chill deep house. Reminds me of Danny Tenaglia's deep house work ¨I float in the clouds"comes to mind. just a sweet and tasteful tune. BOD is spot on with his Maj 6ths. I am enjoying your work so far.
crucethus, I looked for 'I float in the clouds' but I only find 'Little Fluffy Clouds', could that be it? I any case, thanks for pointing me in that direction. He is really good! I have to listen to more of it.
Like I told bringer, I should make it a project to figure out what you guys mean with Maj 6ths. It can get frustrating not be able to express sounds that you have in your head quickly enough when not knowing theory.
Thank you so much for your nice comment. Truly appreciate it.
Nice, I am so happy to hear the quality of tunes lately on this site has been just amazing lately. You are no exception. This is a smashing composition. Thanks for adding this here.
My pleasure Cruce. Thank you for the listen and comment. I love this site because it really is quite a few top-notch musicians here, and their humble. Nothing like a musician with an ego as big as an elephant. Will stop by.
Aces. The mix is great, instrument choices are also really good. Your mellow vox is hypnotizing. About 2:19 was a good tremolo effect stereo-wise. And then came back again at 3:00. A little coda at 4:00. good work.
Again another sweet tune. I understand what you feel about the mix but that is easily corrected. Are U using Isotope Ozone at all? The vox from you works very nicely. You have an alto voice and it fits well in this tune. Lower the master gain and if u use Ozone 9 you can bring the DB back up with the compressor and limiter functions while maintaining the instrument space with a boatload of DB space. less is more. You have a nice musical aesthetic in your compositions. I really like your work musically and you know what you're doing composition-wise, itś really impressive.
Yep, use ozone. 'Never Said' is mixed at about 9 LUFS with a 1 LU loudness range and -1db true peak which is just fine. I was actually referring to the mixing part I wasn't sure about but I worked it out in the end.
My voice is actually not that alto. I have no clue why here it sounds so deep, I since froze and flattened the track so I don't remember if I changed the pitch a bit to match my key. Some other people are telling me that the effects are causing that. Honestly, I don't see how.
Enough rambling omg. Thank you so much for your kind comment crucethus. Really appreciate you take the time to listen. =D
cool, Artistic semi- Bro-Step. I wasn't sure if anyone was doing that anymore. I like how you don´t fixate on any one element too long. You made this creative. 3:02 had a moment of sane arpeggios, but it was just a tease. Technically well-done mate! respect on the mix! I even heard elements of 8 bit in this one. You really brought the kitchen sink to the party. You must really be bored to toy with us with this masterpiece ehh? Great job mate and a nice ending!
"You must really be bored to toy with us with this masterpiece..."
Nailed it.
I like "Artistic semi- Bro-Step." Yeah the sane arpeggios is a teaser. The US interpretation of the genre is generally a couple risers, a couple impacts, and the "drop" happens twice over a two min period in a predictable manner, without much variance.
I wanted to make something that had a little more variety, even if it is dubstep as hell.
I'm basically bouncing from genre to genre right now.
That Intro is killer. The vibe is amazing. I just enjoyed listening to this as a well-composed song. The analogue elements worked well.
¨'m having a sort of musical identity crisis at the moment and I don't know which direction to turn so I'm trying a number of things to see what works. Like throwing paint randomly at a canvas."
My advice to you this (not that you want it or need it), is to avoid trying to genre bounce, to appeal to the audience. but make music that you like to listen to. If it's good, an audience will come along for the ride. But at the end of the day, can you play your tune to and for yourself and enjoy it? I like doing different genres mainly because I become bored. And musically I like to listen to a lot of different things. This was a good tune.
Doing a lot of thinking about this lately. I find comfort on knowing what it is I'm working on genre wise, like a sense of order, a structure. I don't do it to please anyone. No one seems to like genres around here. If I were seeking approval, would I continue trying to categorize music?
I also become bored and genre bounce. But again it's just because of that, boredom. Ironically, if I had a wish to start pleasing people first, I'd switch to a more mainstream genre like regular Hip Hop, RnB, Rap or Trap. Doing house seems to be a niche experience lately and that is the genre that's closest to my heart other than techno. Maybe I'll do some techno next =P
Also, if I were trying to appeal the audience, I'd be putting vocals on all my tracks, it seems. I like to use vocals, don't get me wrong. I have plenty of music with vocals. I just like my instrumentals as well.
So sorry for the long rant. Just had it in my head and wanted it out lol. I truly appreciate your kind comment crucethus. Your feedback is invaluable. Thanks for the listen. =D
cool, those hi-hats are straight outta 1995 and I miss them sometimes. nice bass depth. Nice techno. Future techno like VCMG made a few years back. Compelling tune with well-placed percussion and an awesome mix mate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oztKJLPj3S0
I mixed the two for shits and giggles (Same BPM).. and they work together amazingly. you should try it. You made an amazing tune.
Hey Steve always good to hear from you thanks for pointing me at VCMG I'm listening to their Wind up Robot track their work is awesome. Its always a good sign when I'm bouncing about in my seat. Keep fighting the good fight and thanks for making my day a better one bro :) Robbie
