Interesting song.
A lot of nice riffs thrown at this wall.
I really think your ideas deserve to be developed further and reach the form of a complete song.

on IMMT2U by Evisma
Cool! I really enjoyed this track.
Love the flanger on the bass, it works well with your sound.
Good ideas, the guitar fits very well.
The drums are a bit in the background in this song, but this is fine: it leaves more room for the bass!
Good job.
Ciao, Domenico

PS: one possible improvement could be the timing of the bass around 3:20 (it is not as accurate as it could be)

Thank you for the listen and the feedback, I always appreciate the opportunity to make things better. When after hearing the same track 300 times in production, you need fresh ears to find the nettles or the berries.

on Thief In The Night by MWRatridge
Great song Mark!
Already said several times, but I will say it once more: you have a great voice! Very interesting!
I really enjoyed the instrumental section starting around 1:45: good bass, nice solo and I find also interesting the effect on the voice which introduces this section.
Take care,
Domenico

on Keep It Going WIP by FastFunghi
Simply love the double bass. The chords which come around 0:50 are also great.
Not so fond of the "strange-break" around 1:20 (very quick by the way, so it's definitely not a bad thing).
Overall a great track!
Looking forward to hearing what our mic-men can do with it!
Five stars beat!

I know what you mean, thanks for the feedback. This track was set together in an hour or two so didn't go through all the details yet. I don't like the first effect either, the reverse bass before the beat after that I like though.
Cheers! :)

simple and brilliant
The pella is very good, but man you make it really shine
Love the bass (as many others already said) and the choice of sounds for the drums and synths.

You have a good touch man.

on Little Lovers Ambiance by topvega
Hi TopVega,
Good song. I am not sure you need a vocal part: maybe a keyboard player who could keep your pace would be more beneficial than a singer. Just an idea...
Liked & downloaded it.
Take care, Domenico

Hey Domenico, I think I agree with you on the no vocals. It's a little busy to be sung over. Will look into adding a keyboard or two to make up for no vocals. Appreciate the support and the input.

on Janis71 by gfdeux
Hi gfdeux!
I am glad to see you have composed a song with one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.
That said, your track is not bad: I can hear a lot of good ideas. Maybe it lacks a bit of a "definite" direction, but I definitely enjoyed listening to it.
My personal highlights:
- the guitar work (the palm-muted arpeggio) really good
- bass sound and riff (simple, but solid)

on Miss You feat Patricia Edwards and Janis71 by DjoeGio
Hi DjoeGio,
This song is very well done. I like how you integrated the voices of Patricia and Janis: the refrain from Janis is so simple and yet so beautiful.
And the spoken words of Patricia are a bit "naive" but maybe just for this so touching.
Just one remark: I am not so convinced by the end of the song, nothing wrong with fading out, but given the outstanding level of all the rest of the song I was expecting something more. But maybe this is one of the "musts" in the dance genre (which I have to admit I don't know at all)
Good work.
Ciao, Domenico

DjoeGio replied 17th Aug 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks for your comment! I thought long and hard about the fade out. I had a song that was 3 minutes long and ok. But than I tried different kinds of fade-outs and I liked this one because you can here the refrain without the voice of Janis. It kind of invites you to sing along. I hoped. But you're right, this is really the style they use in dancematerial.

on La Ihla Dos Meus Sonhos - Featuring Irlenn by ScottFranco
Wonderful song. Simply wonderful.
The guitar is outstanding: loved the first solo, simply beautiful. Maybe the rhythm guitar could be a bit more present in the mix (?)
And the "theme" which is played at "unisono" with the singer is great.
The drums, what can I say here... what a great drummer!
Very well played and with a great technique.
Only "improvement" possible, maybe the fill-solo around 2:30 (I like the idea of going "rock" for few seconds, but the tom-fills are a bit "too much" in my humble opinion). The second time this is done in a more subtle way and I liked it more (around 4:10)
I almost forgot the sax solo... wow!
Definitely a professional track.
Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful piece of music with us.
Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Thanks allot, Domenico. Very concise comment. I'm getting quite a master's class in Latin and Brazilian music (this is Scott, BTW) in my collaborations with Franco and his pals. I've studied the styles, but had very little opportunity to put it to use.

on PeteJonTebar Doing the best I can by Soap
This is so good ... that I have to ask you to really consider what PlanetJazzBass said: you need to bring up the music a bit. Specially in the chorus. Don't let Pete's wonderful voice alone.
If the song was not that good, I wouldn't have said anything. But man, you have a really professional hit here. It deserves the last bit of work which will make it perfect.

Wonderful song. Very good piano accompanying a beautiful voice. So many things condensed in a 3 minute piece.

I really like the spoken words part: Carole's voice is so intense and deep. And I love french: is such a delicate and poetic language.

Good work.

Wonderful song Steve.
As many others already wrote, very professional sounding.
I loved the keyboard "solo" with a guitar-like sound, very good. And the strings around 3:15 add so much air to the song.
As usual... your work is outstanding.

on Right Place Wrong Century by StaticNomad
Superb song man!
I usually don't click on HipHop songs but I learned to know your name, which is a guarantee of good music. Maybe we could introduce a new genre called StaticNomad ... LOL
By the way, I enjoyed everything about this song. Nice dreaming atmosphere, definitely the right place to be, even if the century's wrong.
I like the "soft" and "round" bass sound, very "fat".
Maybe the part around 6:00 could benefit from a more aggressive bass sound (something a la "Barbaro") ... not sure though. And I like the song as it is anyhow.
Good work.
Waiting for the next one now.
Ciao, Domenico

Cool. Glad you're getting to know I have interesting stuff here (and on a few other sites too). Also, it's not really obvious hip hop but I have to choose a genre to put this in. When you read my track description you can always find out lots more about what you're likely to hear and the unusual mix of sounds.

"definitely the right place to be, even if the century's wrong." Good. I never thought about it like that and you're the first person to make that sort of point about the title (which is also unusual and totally open to interpretation). I'm not exactly sure which bass sound you're talking about liking - probably the main one. That's made up of a mix of bass and guitar going through an octave pedal with a slowed attack. Very powerful. I see that bass part on 6:00 as being quite round, actually. I didn't want it to be aggressive as that's where the track just opens up and sits quite nicely in a bit of a dub reggae style. I also don't know what "Barbaro" is.

Last night I made quite a few small improvements to the track, mostly making things less cluttered and more powerful.

I would upload the improved version over the top of this one but I can't see how to do that. I don't understand why I can't do this but have to start again as if it was a whole new piece when it's just an improved version.

on Remixed Piano ft Katie Bregman by SeriouslyJoking
I vote for the two parts to stay together.
Really loved this: good piano, good atmosphere, wonderful voice and a very tasteful mix.
Ciao, Domenico

PS: I think Behnam's right, but I am not sure this is a flaw: in the end you have a good sounding track and this is the most important thing.
My personal approach is always to first analyze and try to fully understand the vocal part I am using: I try to play the vocal part with an instrument myself to get an idea of the intention of the singer.
But then... your result is so good that I think you may be right and I am wrong: sometimes too much thinking is not good in art.
SeriouslyJoking
SeriouslyJoking replied 15th Aug 2013 - 12 years ago
Thanks Domenico!
Well, about understanding the vocal - I'm not that understanding unfortunately! Why can't they just sing the way I want them to sing??!
No, just kidding - yes I'll try that next time, not sure if I have the musical level of understanding yet though...

Thanks for listening and sorry for a late reply!
