on The Ride - Alen9R Collab by AllenV
You back in business again mate? Thought i'd drop by and check out whats been happening. This is solid. I like the progression. Starts of like a ballad, then it goes a bit pink floydish (although i don't think dave gilmore could have pulled that solo off) Then we're in to a good old fashioned bit of rock.
Outstanding quality!!!

Thanks FR,I thought I'd throw in everything but the kitchen sink and hoped it would all come together.
Alen had a great foundation that I built around.
He offered to change anything I wanted about his track to suit me but that would have defeated the point...to make it a combination of our styles...and I'm to old to change mine.

Thanks again for the comments and I bet David has plenty of extra guitars,I'll get my people in touch with his.
Allen.

on Hirogenium Feat Effluence - Turn by Hirogenium
Hot work mate!

This reminds me a little of the old school electronic stuff that bands such as Kraftwerk used to put out.
Not hearing too much stuff like that these days so i'm giving this the thumbs up!!
Niceley done.

Ha! Love it mate. It's like having two tracks in one. Loved those turkish style breakdowns. Nice to hear something a bit different this morning.

Hey Mr Radical!
I wish I could give you all the Tech details about the song but I don't know them, you'll have to ask MrQ...

Thanks for the comment, you did a great job and thank you for all your work on this...you really created the song,I was just a lonely guitar player with a pick ;)

on Smoothness DEMO by Samoi08
Thought i'd better stop by and tune in since i dropped such a sarcastic remark on the notice board.
I have to say i hear where your coming from. The bassline, the beat and the synths are great but that guitar part could either use something to fill it out a bit or just changing. For me personally the tune lost the vibe a bit when that came in and the rest of it is too good to just settle for it as it is.
I like the vibe your on here though, It's a bit Massive Attackish (been listening to them a lot just lateley)
Good work man.

This is really good mate. I'm digging the mellow electronic vibe. The synth harmonies are great and production is smooth.
I'd class this as electronic in contention with Spivkurl but it's pretty chilled out so i can see where he's coming from.
Anyway, what matters is you've done a good job with this.

This is excellent mate. Great combo of synth melodies with a great uplifting feeling. Nicely broken down into the arpegiating synth.
2 Thumbs up!!

on Massive by DJSupernova
I think all you've got to do is just resample that loop and play around with it a bit. Maybe add an acid box synth line or something. It's a solid track so far and it doesn't need a lot done to it to make it complete.
I enjoyed this!!

on HORNET by sn76
This is what i'm talking about man! The drop in this tune is out there. That bassline is menacing. It actually reminds me a little of death metal with the rolling double kick and the gritty vibe.
& Ten downloads (make that 11) speaks for it's self.

Love it! This would make an excellent backdrop for one of thos terminator style 3D shooters. I can just imagine creeping around corridors with menacing robots lurking round dark corners ready to try and take you out.
Great computer language effects.

on Three different kinds of trees by ALXSIX
Another brilliantly pieced together track. I feel i should have it on louder as i can hear there's some heavy bass which i'm missing out on at low level (It's too early in the morning to crank it up)
This reminds me a little of somne of the Aphex Twins earlier stuff which is definiteley meant as a compliment.

on Limestone pavement by ALXSIX
I'm not too familiar with glitch stuff so i found this interesting. It's almost like a techno/ambient crossover which on paper are two genres that shouldn't really work together.
This does though, The thumping reverberated drums and the atmospheric synths combine together to form a kind of astral effect which reminds me of being at warehouse partys and feeling a bit lost in space.
An original piece mate and one i'd like to hear again.
FR
ALXSIX
ALXSIX replied 14th Dec 2011 - 13 years ago
This one might have a bit of techno in it indeed. Glad you brought that up, I'm not used to the genre. I wanted to make something a bit more danceable than usual and that's what came up!
Thanks for your listen and nice comments, really appreciated.

on find my way back by zero2zero
Hey mate, Thought i'd look you up as i hadn't seen any recent posts from you since rejoining the loop.
Just been checking out this latest little ambient jam of yours. Kind of reminds me of something from the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy or something.
Nice combination of squared off synth pads and spacey noises zero.
Good job.

Dude this sucks! (Is that mild mannered enough for you?)

No seriously, I had to home in on this as 50 downloads from this site must be some sort of world record. I can see why it's so popular as well. The combination of atmospherics, percussion and slap's always brilliant sax playing have conjured up a big time winner here.

51 downloads and counting!!!

on Rock Lives ft AllenV by DJSchmeeJ
Yeah i hear ya. It sucks not being able to put exclamation marks in the title huh?
This is a good piece of solid rock mate and i see Allen is still making his fingers bleed on a regular basis.
Soundwise it needs a little sorting out. I'd drop the mid lows on the rhythm guitar slightly and brink up the kick and snare a little.
Other than that this tune rocks! (as rock should do with a name like that)

FR (NQ) whatever!!

8 downloads and not a single thank you! What's the world coming to eh? Anyway i really enjoyed this, It's a pretty mellow vibe for a techno tune but a GOOD mellow vibe. The progression was good, I liked the vocals you blended in with it and this just has to be one for the MP3.
Cheers Mate!!

on Slow jam by smallpaul
I ummed and ard a bit before hitting the play button because i associate R&B with the likes of Maria Carey, Whitney Houston and other similar characters, Which for reasons i can't really explain, all get right on my t*ts!
This However gave me a nice suprize. It reminds me of stuff that was around back in the soul to soul era and gave me a bit of nostalgia.
Plus i really liked the fact that there was no warbling "Careyesque" vocals on it.
You've made an even better track here than Ben.
And He's Awesome!!!!
smallpaul
smallpaul replied 6th Dec 2011 - 13 years ago
Thanks mate, yes 'Careyesque'!! It was the genre I thought it was best suited to, I used to like all that swing style back in the day early 90's, and used to listen to Trevor Nelson on a Sunday. Some great memories!!

on Face It - ft Twanna1 by AllenV
This is another fine effort. It's got a real retro 80's kind of vibe to it. Sadly i'm only listening on my crappy lap top speakers so i can hear that there's more to this tune that i'm not picking up properly at the moment.
Twanna has some serious vocal talents and your guitar compliments it brilliantly. That solo makes my fingers hurt just listening to it lol.
AllenV
AllenV replied 6th Dec 2011 - 13 years ago
The solo made my fingers hurt playing it,I had took a couple months off and the calluses were gone, you have to play every day to keep them...or numb yourself so you don't feel the pain...which I did;)

Thanks FreeRadical!

on Kurosawa ft MStokes and Tumbleweed by AllenV
This is a bit more dark and dramatic from what i'm used to from you. It reminds me a little of the Ozric Tentacles. As PJB pointed out it would make a splendid movie them tune or possibly a Miami Vice style cop show.
And there's you saying you hadn't been doing much lateley. Great work as always man.

Thanks for the review my friend,I have a little tune I'll be uploading soon that is more your style...I think you'll like it;)
Yes,I seem to still be able to make music even though I don't have a guitar at the moment, but I am sitting on a great deal of guitar tracks so I'll keep on keepin' on!

I enjoyed this bombardment of reverberated beats and big room sounds. It's got a bit of an old school jungle feel to it.
Nice work.
