on Broken Promises 2 -Twanna1 and SpellJammer collab by AllenV
Mate, I just listened to "the road home" and it was ace. i figured it had already had enough attention so i thought i'd check and comment on this piece as well.
Reminds me a little of Sade or one of those other old school soul singers.
Everything blends niceley into one and once again you have excelled with your contribution.

Nice spacey floaty vibe. I especially like the parts where the faster synth bass comes in.
A nice combination of swirling pads and synths that fit the title perfectly.

on The Darkest Depths of Heck by Koukotsu
Hey! Where the hell have you been? I must have just missed ya until now.
Anyway, Liking the new material. Nice ringing noises and in a way reminds me a little of Sasha. This would go down well in a prog house set.

Hi Nick! I'm glad you decided to come back.

I honestly don't hang out quite as much as I used to, I'm having a bit of trouble adjusting to this new layout, you know?

But, I have new songs in the works and there really isn't a better place than this to share them in spite of all the changes!

I've never really listened to Sasha but you've got me interested! I'll have to check him out soon.

Thanks for listening and letting me know your new name, I would have never found you otherwise!

Awesome alright. A good old fashioned house track with all the trimmings.
Very well done.

Thanks a lot FR :))

I think this is the most solid house track I've put together to date.. Now all I need to do is move forward 20 or so years in time and I'll be up to date with the rest of today's standards :D

Thanks again man!

Stylishly done Surfdesign and cheers for sharing it.

on A Thrash Attempt by Mr_Od
Well i can't comment on the mix as i'm using the worst speakers in the world right now. But i like the structure of the tune and the variations of rythm and melody.
Sounding pretty darn good to me.

on Ear Bleed by visionarysoundsystem
It's hard for me to form a well rounded opinion on this as i'm only on crappy speakers with no bass end. What i can hear sounds great though, It's got a real sneak around the dance floor vibe to it which always goes down well with me. A nice array of different sounds and samples going on, nice panning effects and great electronic bassy sounds.
It could do with being a bit longer but i definitely want to listen to this again on a propper system so job well done!

Ah Free my friend, thanx for taking time time to stop by & listen & reveiw. I'm glad you are feeling (if not quite hearing lol) the vibe I am trying to create here. As for the track should be longer suggestion ? Please mate one of my biggest problems is making a track too long. I suffer from audio bloat and am often guilty of producing tracks that, hey I love, but are far too long. I have several tracks that I think are great but are almost 2 days long ! LOL ok I'm exagerating but I am trying to keep my productions slimmed down. But now you mention it maybe I should work on the 9 minute remix of this ha ha ? Serious mate I do appreciate your comments and it means a lot to me being reviewed by another Looper whose work I admire. Thanx again.

on Hip Rock by AlekSalt
Good bit of classic rock going on here. Rock isn't a specialist area of mine so it's hard for me to comment on the mix other than everything sounds fine to me.
It's got a nice live feel to it but i hear you, vocals would finish it off nicely.
The music it's self is layered nicely with the several instruments you've selected complimenting each other well.
I enjoyed listening to this track!

on Into the Night by WongKiShoo
I'm diggin it mate. It's like a D&B elecrro mash up. It's got a fresh but at the same time retro feel to it, Which is a complete tautology but it does incorporate flavours of both old and new.
Definitely needs to be lengthened but great so far.

WongKiShoo replied 10th Mar 2012 - 13 years ago
Fuck it.. I'm gonna finish this tonight (or at least get a bit more done). It's LONG over-due...

Thanks for the motivational speech man ;D

on Crack in the Attic by WongKiShoo
Alright, This sounds cool as a cucumber mate. Now i see why you were after that sax. Nice floaty vibes just in time for the sunshine. You certainly know how to put a house track together Mr Shoe.
I find it strange that there's only 4 downloads. Quality free music and they still just "me me me" ..... i dunno.

eassssy :p

thanks for the compliment mate! I think it's one of those acquired tastes to be fair n I didn't really expect *that* many people to download it - a lot of people prefer their house music with that avicii (or whatever), david guetta, deadmau5 sort of vibe nowadays.. (look at me talking like an old man!)

I'm gonna go for that sort of "big club" vibe next time me thinks :)

on Stepper Dub by Redgold
Your killing me! i quit smoking pot about a month ago and for some reason this makes me want to start again lol.
Hey! are you still up for people having a jam with this? I'm definitely interested to see what i could add to it.
I've tried to make this sort of stuff before but it always somehow just becomes something else. I think with your expertise and help i might just get somethin to happen.
Love that bassline.....

on Ice Cream Reggae by pixieboots
It's reggae with an acid twist. Digging your vocals in the track. When i read it was about ice cream i thought "Ok.....here we go"
But it actually works really well. You have a unique approach to the reggae style and we like people who dare to be different.
An origional piece pixie.

I've been jamming the fun loving criminals quite a lot just lateley and the only thing missing from this track is Huey Morgan. (that's supposed to be a compliment by the way)
Definiteley Fun-key! love that wah guitar/organ combo.

on Sunday Salsa by eshar
You been having a spring clean Elaine? I see you've scaled your profile down quite considerably. I pressed play on this and for some reason the first thing i thought of was Tequila (i haven't even had a drink for nearly four years)
I love the subtleness of the mix down on this. Minimal efx usage, concentrating on the instruments themselves.
There's some far out guitar play going on in this tune and i could quite easily place it in a tarantino movie like pulp fiction.
Quality!!

on When You Leave - SpellJammer ft Slap Johnson by AllenV
Evening Mr V. Thought i'd stop by and see how things are with you. Hopefully things have picked up a bit for ya since we last spoke?
Anyway, I had to home in on this one. Some of the best talents on the site all jamming together could mean nothing but a track and a half.
The vibe reminds me a little of Kenny G, very mellow and superbly blended together with all the right ingredients.
It sounds like a full live take. was it?
AllenV
AllenV replied 4th Mar 2012 - 13 years ago
Hey Mr Rad...and you are!
I'm glad it sounds like a full take cause'it definitely wasn't.
This collab with Spell and Slap was the hardest thing(but most rewarding)to put together.Spell and I had it completed and uploaded when Slap decided to join us so of course we wanted and were honored to have him be part of this.
My problem is that I'm no producer and haven't the skills or equipment to do everyone justice...I just know what they send will be be ready to go, but I am the last one to layer in my guitar and call it final so my ear is all I have.
When Slap sent several sax parts that he made for the track(he sent me a demo first)I had to match them with the demo to get that feel as though we were all in the same room and played it all together.
So actually it was many parts.Spell had the melody complete with keys, percussion, bass and all the special musical additions. He sent it to me and I layered many guitar parts over his track and when Slap sent his parts.
It took me a while to do it but I'm pleased that it came out so well...and of course that you liked it!

Thanks for reviewing my friend and yes, things are slowly getting better!

Allen.

on Disappear by Saiea
This is a really nice track, Well written and well performed but why did you put it in the electro genre? You'd probably be getting more hits if you went for chill out or electronic.
It's a good track, but it aint electro!
Still, I enjoyed it and that's what counts.
