Okay mate,
I dunno if the crackly sound was intended or not. If it wasn't this sounds like an issue with the Bitrate you converted this at. I've tested the site and it seems that 96 Kbps is the lowest we can go on a track without it messing up. Any lower and you start getting funky playback.
Anywho, from what I hear this has some pretty killer vocal samples on it. Dunno where the drums fall (kinda like glitch house I'm thinkin, I dunno). They synth is nice and funky (kinda glitchy too). This one is very trippy mate. Anyways, good luck with the conversion thing mate. Later on!
Hey Dan,
I dunno, what the deal was before when Blue listened to this. It seems to be playing fine for me. There's a bit of airy quality to it, but I'm thinkin that ya just used some kinda phased reverb effect on it (am I right?). Either way, I like it.
This track seens to be kind of a mix of styles. Though I agree that it's mostly D&B. It also has a kind of chilled out style to it. Like...???... Dream Trance? I dunno, but it's a cool approach. Now I'm just gonna chill and let the rest of the track play...
Okay, cool end. Sorta sudden, but it worked with the overall mix. And the melody at the end reminded me somewhat of the Tron score. Thanks for sharing. Later on!
Yeah spot on. I used the Fruity Phaser on the main drum track. This is a move away from more normal style as I like fast in your face, make you wanna dance DNB usually. A little bit of an experiment to see what else I can do stylewise. You're probably right about the ending. Before Looperman I made tracks that where more like mash ups with the track changing 4 or 5 times on the way through. Some ended up being 20 mins or longer (that's how FBS started) this track was my first real attempt at making a single track in it's own right. Thanks for taking the time to review Don much appreciated.
Yessireee, I do remember. That was a super sweet game. Really basic, but really addictive, you know? Wait, you were talking about the other song you had up. Opps! Man, I feel like a geezer, haha.
Anyways, this is a pretty sweet mix and I'm glad the name threw me off like it did. Gotta ask though, did you have any kind of live controller when you were doing this? The reason I ask is because it kinda sounds like it and also because I recently was checkin out GuitarCenter.com and lookin at this one Native Instruments package they got with a prog and a controller (for like $400 or $600, can't remember now, but it seemed like a pretty good deal). Sorry about that little ramble there. Back to the song, ay? As you can tell I love those effected synths (bass ?) ya used on this. Thanks for sharing. Later on!
(edit)
Hey mate, I was talkin about me with the whole 'Guitar Center' thing. Haha, it's cool. Sorry to have confused you. Later on!
hey donnie_vyros. i'm glad you like this one like many others. look now. i used loops from looperman and for software i used FL studio 7. i didn't bye anything from GuitarCenter.com. I used my creativity and assembled the loops. so now you know. thanks for your review. visit http://djdenki.tk
Hey mate,
It's cool to name the site so long as posting this elsewhere isn't against their Terms. That'd be the only way that this would be against the rules here.
Ooh, ooh, I've got to ask, how'd ya get the samples off the site (coz I know which one it is) onto your PC so you could mix it and everything?
I think it's super cool that they're offering the song up like that, but hate the way they've got a Flash player 10 mixing app programmed into their site... It's the only reason I haven't done anything with it yet.
Anyways, I love how ya sped this up and how ya gave it a traditional trance feel. I've heard the original and this was a nice spin on it. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!
And yes we will! Massive kudos goin for this one (I was reeled in on the name alone). I like the bell soundin synth ya used on this (am a huge fan of bells) and I really, really love the dark, gritty nature of the bass on this. The drums sound like a mix between Hiphop and New Jack Swing. A very good arrangment overall (save for the sudden cut off at the end). I'd rate it 8 out of 10. Later on!
This kinda has that 99/00 vibe to it. Remember the songs like Len- Steal my Sunshine? Or some of the stuff by Smashmouth or Sugar Ray? Yeah, this took me back to when that stuff was big. Thanks for the flashback (def chilled vibe on this, good for bonfire parties in the backyard). Later on!
The funky guitar riffs ya used on this were pretty refreshing. At first I was kinda scratchin my head as to whether this was an authentic trance track, but then the second half of the song kicked it with the busy synths and I stopped wondering. Kinda like the step-up approach ya used on this song. Going from one mood to another, in a way. Or A side/B side, if you'd rather. I like the fade out too. Later on!
Spitting out and gurgling electrical currents. Kinda like those laser light shows the Disney parks have mixed in with the FX of Tron. The one melody on this reminds me of a song I heard back in the 90's... If only I could remember what it was now. Eh, it'll come to me at some other time (prolly when I'm trying to get to sleep). I'm really diggin the way the drums take a back seat to the other stuff in this song. In fact, it's kinda funny too, because I was half-tempted to write something like a suggestion on the last track I reviewed of yours (to try an experiment removing the drums from a hardstyle song to see how it would turn out), but didn't (well, I kinda just did here, didn't I, haha). Interesting mix mate. Later on!
How I feel about Hardcore/Hardstyle. A part of me wants to embrace it and another wants go run the other way. Eh, I dunno. That was how I felt about remixes for the longest time so who knows, I'll probably come around eventually.
I can kinda hear what yer saying about the quality delivered by that one VST. Sounds really rich a 3D. I'm reminded of a video game I'm pretty sure you haven't played, but it's level 2 on Robotech Battlecry (the space fight near Earth). The controls weren't all that great, but the graphics of that one level were just as rich. Overall this was a pretty sweet mix, save for the abrupt ending (but I'm not that familiar with hardstyle so I dunno). Lates!
Cover right? It sounds like it is because nothing of theirs (the Police) comes to mind right of mind.
So in that case, lets talk about the track...
I'm diggin the smooth & mellow of this. Kinda like department store music, but waaaay better. Almost one step away from being dub, ya know. Throw in some crazy vocals on this (like R&B, Reggae, New Jack Swing, or Freestyle-esque Snyth-pop) and you'll have a definately banger there. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!
You've got a call holding on line 3. Floor mananger needed at register 10... Haha, sorry, I just had a flashback to the times I've worked in warehouse-like department stores (if at all possible, avoid working at those types of places mate, they're horrible). Though I will admit, driving a Forklift can be kinda cool.
This track is Trancy, yes, but it also has a indus-techno kinda feel. Like what PVD would do if he were to tunnel back to his baggerboy days before he made it big. Du want papair ou plasteque? Haha. Nicely done mate. Later on!
I'm thinkin this one has more of an Ibizi feel to it than the other. Though it does take me to warm beach parties with half-dressed people shakin their tail feathers. The vocals aren't exactly like them, but they kinda remind me of the Real McCoy in a way (think of their first big album there).
You've got some true talent mate. And that's really refreshing to hear these days. Kinda makes me wonder if you've got any CDs for sale. Anyways, thanks for sharing again. Later on!
Thanks fro the amazing review.
You make this feel worthwhile.
Have sold some cd's in SA but i'm trying to get into the European and American markets! Not an easy task but i'll keep at it!Thanks for listening!
The vocals on this sound super familiar, just can't put my finger on it at the moment. I'm lovin the effects you've got thrown on them. This one's takin me back to the early days of when I got into dance/techno/electro (or whatever else the people are calling it these days).
And I've gotta say that for the first time in a while my minds not going into 'mixer mode'. I'm diggin this track's overall composition. And about the only thing I'd wanna do if I had my hands on this for a set is to make it longer (the bare basics of mix sets, ya know). Thanks for sharing mate. Sav/Fav'd!
But some people find it's nice to credit who they used. Kinda like a reward for creating the greatness that's used to make awesome compositions like this one (not a must, again, just a perk, ya know).
Anways, as I was sayin, I'm really diggin this. This one almost has trans quality to it (e.g. an artist like me could take this, drop the drums, and throw it in with some hi-nrg/trance-like mix set). Dunno if that's yer bag, man, but ya did a good job on doing that with this one. As for how it is now, I can't think of anyone off the top of my head that could spit on this, but it's fun toyin around with the possibilities. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!
The loop what's it named? Did ya change it at all when you downloaded it? If not then the user's number is on the name (the shorter series, like 1234567 or whatever). The longer one is the loop's ID.
Course, you could do like I do and name the loop something like (User name- Loop name (loop BPM, genre). The last part of that isn't somethin I do anymore, since most loops are versatile and can be used for any number of styles. Like throwin a Rock riff into a Booty Bass track or whatever. Nuff tech talk though and onto the track...
I dunno why, but I kinda dug the 'hey hey' voc-sam ya used on this. I can see why ya got hooked on the Piano loop. They're very nice. Light and rolling, almost epic, ya know? The drums do a good job of mixing in without being too pronounced. Nicely done mate. Later on!
Is ready... Haha, naw, but it's nice. I love it when people drop a bit of what their mixing/arranging techniques were. Kinda shorta again, but if yer makin this for other DJ/Producer-type people then that's fine n dandy. Anyways, just lurve bells so I'm gon give this 4 outta 5. Later on!
I can kinda see it. It has that fun westcoast vibe to it. Like it could be made to back some vocals that'd be for a club banga or it could be used for a PG-13 type of 'goin through my day' type of track. A bit short though, but a good template to start with. Later on!
This sounds almost as if the Bass was recorded live. I also love the fact that it's solo intro is super long. I think some of the best songs are done that way. Like with my remix of DJ Krush if you were to listen to the original it's kinda done the same way with the build up on that one. Anyways, nicely done guys! I can't wait to see how this developes. Later on!
I love listening to stuff like this because it shows me how far I have to go with D&B until I start getting it right. This gives me ideas for what to do and try. So thanks for that.
I see that you've got 5 tracks for the RPM challenge. What kind of timeline are you setting for yourself? Like day to day or..? I'm thinkin that's the way I'd do it (day-to-day) and I'd label the stuff like 1A Snuffle Rumpkins, 2C Marbles, etc (for day & track number).
Anyways, this one is nuts (though short). The scratchy vox were great and I love the way you change up transition fades with what you use (drums on one, synths on another, etc.). It's pretty jammin for a quickly composed song. Later on mate!
How did I miss this one!? I coulda swore I listened to all of the entries, but I guess not... (shrugs).
I'm gonna say (without bias or however many I entered) that yours should/will win. Yeah, out of all the stuff I've heard for it (including my own stuff) I'm diggin yours the most...
And it ended, sh*t!
Well, lengthwise, scratch what I was sayin above. This song was so awesome that 3.5 mins doesn't do it justice. How 'bout remixing this puppy for us, pwetty pwease? Or how about this, I do a remix of this. Man, I tell you, if I've ever promised to do anything of yours, this would be the one! Dead serious, I'm gettin all twitchy thinkin about it. Yeah, so without further ado, lemme click DL/Fav and get to work on this puppy. Well, after one more review that is. Thanks for sharing (& inspiring). Later on mate!
Written, I like that. Never thought of it that way before and truth be told, it's a perfect label for it.
Maybe, I'm confussing Glitch with Off-beat, but this isn't making me think glitch. It's crazy, yes, but it's too mechanically organized to be Glitch, I think.
That said, I love the order you've given this. It's almost like peering inside of a really big machine and watching all of the mechanisms running. Gears spinning, lights blinking, and all that.
Ok, I stand somewhat corrected, the bass sounding beats (?) are uber Glitch. As if some part of the machine is on the verge of breaking down.
Aww man, I had a really great idea. Shoot this in to the Terminator:Chronicles of Sarah Connor show. I'm thinkin they'd love it, because I could totally see this being played for something like that. Later on mate!
That's interesting there. I liked your werds DV. Amazingly this track has somehow gotten recognition for it's originality and complexity. It was quite an experiment all the way through, but it turned out to be something quite listenable I believe. thanks for the review Donny.
Your influences are showing. Haha, sorry, anyways I hear so many different elements on this song. Like- The Crystal Method, DJ Icey (or Trip Theory) for the bass. Carl Cox (or Daft Punk) on the melody. And lastly, early Moby on the vox. In fact, I can't stop thinking about his song, 'Next is the E' and the movie 'Cool World' where I first heard it.
It's as if a bunch of songs were thrown into a mixer board blender and set to puree. Thanks for taking me back to the solid soul days of electro. Later on mate!
I'm thinkin that it's at a decent length at the mo'. Perfect CD or album length. Though, I suppose if you were wanting to do this as part of a set it could be stretched out some (most of mine are done with sets in mind these days).
I love the subdued quality of the synths and the quack-like sound you've got on this. The only thing I would do if this were my track is to throw some more effects (on mainly the vocals) to give it a little extra depth. Kinda like fadin 'em out (with either a Hall or Echo effect) to give the illusion of a drop off into space. Bring 'em back with kind of a muffled, underwater-like sound, ya know. Anyways mate, you're on your way with this one. Just some slight tweeks and effects and you'll be golden. Later on!
Recorded live or were those cheers just some loops ya threw into the mix? Either way, I think if I were to see this bein performed I'd be cheerin too. I really love the intro voc-sam ya used on this. And really, really dig how ya waited a long time to introduce the drums. Very nice build-up there. I also think it's refreshing how ya took a Sci-fi approach to this song. Kind of giving it a cartoony/comic book vibe. Which is not done enough in HH, I'm thinkin. I watched a music vid on Romeo Must Die (if I'm not mistaken) where it's of a rap group on a space mission to the Moon or something. Don't know why I thought of that, but there ya go. The only thing I'd recommend for this is to add a couple more ending vox loops at the end to give it a more diminished echo kinda sound. Other than that this blew me away. Thanks for sharing. Later on!
Had better subs to play this. Aww man, it'd prolly sound so sweet. You layered the bass drop didn't you? I can hear it when I've got my speakers maxed out. I'm lovin how ya didn't overkill the levels on this coz it actually sounds decent with my stuff @ 100. The clipping is very minimum so this was mastered with professionalism. The voc-sam on this is pretty choice- Check dis ish out, yeah boi! I would love to hear this done in a versus remix with someone else. Kinda like the two of you goin at one another to make one of the craziest Break song around. Thanks for sharing & highly recommended. Later on!
