Ohhh those drums are epic! Good sounds choice in there mate! NAS all over it! It's the same rhythm, the same style.....well what are you waiting for...get him down there to record it already.
Hey thanks man....I'm a huge Duduk fan,I know a lot of Turkish people in Oz and really enjoy their weddings, parties and (bands),they call it something a little different but essentially it's the same instrument, pity Evrim isn't still active on the Loop she's someone I always wanted to collab with...thanks again mate...cheers Dave
Thanks mate, I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out but in all fairness i have to give credit to Romy. it was her vocals that inspired the idea. I'm glad you enjoyed this and thanks for the inspiring comments.
FR
Nice start! I was like that kick is never gonna work but then the rest of the sound came in and it became nice and round!
Some cool use of filters in there! A nice modern vibe all around, this could easily work as a commercial release with a vocalist and a bit of adaptation for the radio market.
The rhythm is just right to make you move and the transitions and well done.
A good kick is important to me, I make sure they work ;) But thank you, and yes, I am working on a vocalist at the moment! I appreciate the feedback :)
thanks mahloo...on relisten im wondering if my levels on the lowest bassline and some eq separation might be in order?...never one to leave well enough alone, lol...thanks fo ryour fine review!
I like the overall vibe of the track and that plucked guitar gives it a nice vibe.
I'm gonna say a couple of things on the mix...the snare is fabulous but the kick is way to boomy and beneath the bass instead of driving dragging the bass after it.
The bass also seems a bit lost in there and maybe a bit to the left, I find it distracting but it might be preference.
Anyways the chord progression is pretty cool and with some vocals it could turn out really good.
The original sported a tighter better sounding kick but also was really bass heavy especially in the 20-50Hzs range.... back then i never mixed down the original instrumental and only have certain stems from the original and i just recently loaded them into my DAW and didnt do much to atlter the mix.... there isnt any panning on the Bass its mono however i did cut out the mid lows and overcompensated which kinda killed the body of the bass sound and in the same effect make the Sub lows of the kick more boomy......lol i was just rushing through it so i didnt really give my ears a chance to really hear how thin the bass sounds
I'd take care of that 300Hz area in that vocal track as it distorts and it shouldn't. This kind of vocals work great with less low end.
One of those kicks is distorting as well and there is a random click tacking place that doesn't sound to pleasant. I'd take care of those issues first.
I do feel there is room for improvisation here as some chords would have worked great on top of that beat!
Ohh man I love this style of music...so smooth and happy. Always had a weakness for the way instruments evolve and complete each other in Spanish songs, that Latin vibe is unbeatable and you've captured it perfectly.
On the mix I must say that I would have loved a bit more punch to give the song a bit more drive. That doesn't however take away from the beauty of the music.
HEY MAHLOO13, THANKS 4 THE EARS. I WAS CLIMBING OUT OF MY DONNY HATHAWAY THERAPY WHEN THIS SONG CAME 2 ME ABOUT 20 YRS AGO. I WAS TRYING 2 CONVEY THAT FEELING ALL MUSICIANS HAVE 2 FEEL WHEN THEY COME OFF THE ROAD OR EVEN WHEN THEY R STILL ON IT AND FALL INTO THAT FAMILIAR TOWN.. AGAIN THANKS 4 LISTEN AND KIND WORDS. PEACE.
Very nice effort! You've got a strong soul influence in your voice which I think is really hard to defeat or mask. Not that it's a bad thing but sometimes less vibrato could work better.
Still you are one of my favs!
Mad props go out towards Richie as well. Great musician!
There are some pitch issues with the vocal and they tend to be distracting.
The track is really nice though honestly I would have liked the guitars a bit wider on some sections where there are multiple ones playing. It might be just a subtle change.
As I've said the track is really really cool but you need to fix those vocals. The distortion on the vocals also seemed a bit to much to me.
Well it's definitely a banger that's or sure. Love the drums and the samples in the background. The quality could improve as it's distorting at the moment but overall it's really a very good effort.
The flow is nice and consistent and it completes the track pretty well. Looking forward for the finished version.
Nice! I honestly think you've incorporated elements from the past and some of the future. At the start it's a bit retro sounding but as you progress it reaches today's standards. Nice!
I'm really curious about this with vocals so let me know once you have those on top of it.
On the mixing side I'd say it's a bit scratchy and that may happen for a number of reasons. Leaving monitoring conditions aside...I'd say you've cut way to much low end out of every track and kinda lost the weight of the song in the process. The kick is clicky and kinda lacks punch.
Although I made it sound worse than it is the song still has a great quality and the sound is good just a bit to bright (might be personal taste as well)
This was mixed using headphones entirely and no doubt suffered as a result..
The frequency range of said headphones don't really allow me to hear anything below 50hz clearly enough and I generally do start cutting quite steeply below that frequency anyway.. Some food for thought on future mixing!
As for the brightness, I do like my high's :) .. but again, I don't really get to hear the mix results on decent speakers before I render.. something that will be remedied in the next couple of months when I start buying my new gear.
I'll be sure to let you know if I do get vocals on this - I've been waiting since October for them so I dunno if I should hold out much hope tbh lol - but then again, the reviewer below might come up with something decent! We shall see..
thanks Malu. you're one of the few reviewers who has an opinion I can trust. I agree with the vox issue, but this was when I was still figuring out my microphone. I think the next few songs will be just fine :)
as far as vox go on the other song, I wasn't planning on adding any. but maybe it would be a good idea at this point seeing as how so many people have asked me to. thanks for the advice, I will keep it in mind!
I'm having a bit of trouble picturing the focus of the song but that's probably because you didn't add vocals and being given you are a great rapper you should have added them. lol!
I like the vibe those synths bring to the whole thing. Makes the whole thing step in the psychedelic realm and boy you can flow there.
I like the melody synth very uplifting.
All in all I must say this was a pleasant surprise.
The track is pretty impressive and has a pretty good rhythm. The audio quality however ain't so good. It's really distorted.
With a decent mixer to fix those timing issues and some of the distortions in the track it would become pretty big. I like the arrangement very much and the vocals are really nice kinda takes my mind to a mix between Eternal tears of Sorrow, Korn, In Flames which are pretty cool.
Overall I really like it, and that snare hiding in there seems to be really cool.
Hey :). Thanks for taking the time to have a listen and comment! ^_^
Yeah we've had a lot of trouble recording recently as my mac broke, so it had been left to incompetent engineers :/.
Once we get the raw audio tracks i'll do my own mix and re-upload :).
Jonathan Davis of Korn is my main influence vocally so cheers! :D

You have such a big soul and jazz influence coming through this tune, it's unbelievable. The first thing my mind went to was John Legend. Extremelly surprised and in a really good way.
This could be huge with an apropiate mix. It has vibe's from the 80's to the present. I can see some modifications being done to the vocals in the ''I've been around the world'' area. A bit of pitch adjustments and some modulation and it's brilliant.
This is going into my all time favs! Very good effort!
Thank you, Mahloo! I very much appreciate your kind words. Being compared to John Legend is pretty awesome.
Actually the mixing will be redone and any other issues will be fixed. Vocals will always have to be redone because what you hear I did with my laptop, lexicon mixer, and a shure mic (not exactly pro equipment). Very fortunate for me I will be working with a grammy-winning recording engineer. Anything I post here is by no means a finished product and will always be turned over to a professional
Wow! Barry did wonders on this track! I like that Americana sound. Fabulous from start to finish! The vocals are a stroke of genius..reminds me of Bon Jovi...ahem the female version...Lol.

need opinions on:
1. Is my words clear?
2. Am I on key?
3. Are the vocals too loud?
4. should i delete the vocal track and re do it?
