This is really good! Like the intro and that soprano sax sounds fantastic. Those drums sounds are brilliant too - can I ask what you use please? Farisha is such a talent and you've done great things with the vocal and given them a real opportunity to shine. Excellent all round production. Love it. Great job.

Ty very much for the nice comment.

The drums are made with Superior Drummer kinda big brother to EZ-Drummer. I think Drumset was "Drumkit From Hell"

on The time is now featuring Romy Harmony by FreeRadical
I had a read of all the other comments here and was immediately attracted by the notion of a twenty year old Norwegian model! I'm so totally out of my depth here so forgive my complete ignorance of the genre please FR. Love the driving bass line and the drum/percussion. It all works perfectly. I can't hear what she's singing about though. It's a great voice and I'd be tempted to push them way forward in the mix and loose a lot of the effects too. Despite the onset of years I want to get up and dance to this so thanks for that. You've made an old man very happy - but not as happy as a twenty year old Norwegian model would!!

Great track, love it.

Richie

PS What is "chicane" please?
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 14th Apr 2012 - 13 years ago
Sorry for the late response. I've been having some profile issues (I don't mean like multiple personality or anything like that so don't panic)
Yeah the Norweigan model turned out to be a good blag in that it got me quite a bit of attention. I'm going to give this track to someone to professionally master as mixdown is really not my strongest point.
Anyway, Chicane are a trance act that do a lot of stuff in a similar style. Their most famous one is probably "don't give it up" which was a double team with Bryan Adams (dam good track might i add)
Thanks for leaving your thoughts Richie. It's always appreciated.

This is such a great track. A super arrangement and I love the dynamics as the song progresses. So very good to hear Patricia's vocal treated with sympathy and respect. Great job. Love it. Lively, exciting, well played. Great guitar work. I am impressed. Well done.

Hi

I couldn't resist checking out your tracks - really good. I admit I'm a bit out of my comfort zone here (old fart syndrome due to the onset of years!) but I admire the quality of your production on this track. So clean and well thought out. It builds really well and that lovely relaxed synth line over the four in the bar drum loop is excellent. Is that you chanting in the background too? Great track. Love it.

on Aint Nobody Lovin Me But You Feat Patricia Edwards by my05
Excellent track, really really good. Your chord progressions around the vocal are perfect and the feel of funk, disco, house and good old fashioned dance music is great. Ah, nice piano in there now too. Great use of Patricia's vocal talents and so nice to see a track produced that respects that enormous talent. Fabulous arrangement, great mix, top job, love it. Well done.

Thanks heaps Richie for the nice words :-)

It would definately be a shame to "hide/chop" her fantastic voice in any other way.

As being a new "rookie" on this site, i am quite amazed how much great music there are here from a lot of people.

I listened to your track "Come home" and i must tell you, it is not often i get goosebumps from listening to great music.

Your version is absolutely stellar and it clearly shows that you know your stuff. Wow :-)
RichieWinn
This is a very modern and adventurous take on the blues. I love it. Great stuff. I really like this very much. It takes me well out of my comfort zone and that's a good thing for me. Top job. It's so very reassuring to hear the blues taken to new horizons and done so well.

Hi Richie my friend good to hear from you and thanx loads for taking time to listen & reveiw. Nice to know I strecthed your ears on this one. Thats a big compliment that I have taken a genre and made a talented muso such as your self re-evalute the way a type of music can sound. As I said to MS I enjoyed making this and was pleased with the final take but it's all down to Patricia sharing the 'pella. Again mate I really appreciate your comments here and I feel very humbled by them.

Hi Jamie

Lovely to hear a well thought out piece of music and so excellently produced and played. Drums sound fantastic (well forward in the mix, brilliant) and that piano sound is so good. Your guitar is superb and fits so well with everything that's going on around it. Harmony guitar too - top job. Great ending. Just fabulous. Love it.

Great memories brought back here! This is such a great track and it takes me back to playing smokey and poorly attended bars and clubs in the sixties. Playing four one hour sets and finishing at 3am. Those where the days and I'm just glad they've gone!! Couldn't stand the pace now.

Super track Vicen. So very authentic. Thank you.

The fantastic intro doesn't disappoint. It leads you into a great track and your guitar sound and playing are such a joy to listen to. Love your precision and the phrasing has so much soul. Knocked out. I like the dynamics in the arrangement and the little bit of drama. Ah, harmony guitar section too. Fabulous. Majestic finish. Such a rewarding listening experience. Thank you.

Hey Richie!

I have to say that I've never been so inspired until I joined this site.I played bars for many years just to provide money for the rent(And drinks).I can't count how many times I've played"Gimme Three Steps,Turn The Page and Old Time Rock n Roll"for a tip or shot of JD...which ever came first,or both!
This site has allowed me to play different styles and the freedom to grow that I never would have done in the clubs.
I know you know what I'm sayin'my friend and your comments are appreciated. It's a whole new world(musically)out there with this technology we have with the net,I just wish that one day we all could meet in person...what a jam that would be!!

Thank you for listening.
Allen.

This is such a great track - well done. Love the sound of the kit. Sounds like a real drummer. Bass line is lovely. The horns are so good. The middle eight really kicks off too - brilliant. I'm knocked out with the arrangement and of course you give the amazing vocal talent that is Patricia Edwards a chance to shine through. Top job all round. Excellent. Love it.

Thank you Richie for your kind review... Drums have been played on a Roland electronic kit, using the sounds of the Toontrack Superior Custom and Vintage Expansion Series. Unfortunately, I noticed after the recording was done that I didn't play enough fills so I had to edit the drums take to add more fills and it has lost a bit of "human touch" in the process in some parts...

Thanks again for listening.

on I wish I could feel by 00polo2
Hi, I have listened to your track a number of times and have some difficulty with it. I think what troubles more than anything is the vocal sounds out of tune. Now, that can't be the case because I've listened to the acapella and it's fine. So, the issue here is the key you have chosen for the backing. I'm afraid it clashes pretty badly.
