on Have You Seen My Girl by Mykael
Mykael, outstanding vocal work. I suspect you are trying to mix your vocals into an already mixed track.....if so, it will be virtually impossible to get them to sit in the mix like you want them to.

I'm not criticizing your mixing skills (it sounds pretty good), but I think this has a ton of potential if mixed and mastered properly. That's the nit picking part of the review.

Now for the fun - man you have such great vocal chops. You have the potential to really be a star, you just need the right material and the right studio. You find that and dude, you are going to go places. Just remember I've got a bus and I can play a little guitar and piano as well as haul your equipment, haha.

Very nicely done. I'll keep checking back for edits to this one. I hope all is well.

The reward goes out to you for making me laugh so hard, my dog woke up and took notice! (referencing "haul your equipment").

I am grateful for your comments and encouragement. You are among the best artists on this site(IMHO)whose thoughts matter to me, so trust me when I tell ya if there is ever a time when you do need to be "critical" of something of mine you've listened to, I'm ALL ears. With that said I'm VERY happy you enjoyed what you heard.

Love & Light,

Mykael

on EXOTIC INSTRUMENTAL by Timmons2
Man Timmons, you are bringing it with this one. As for getting a vocalist for it, I think Carole (if she has the time) would be perfect for this one. Not only does she write great lyrics, she sings like an angel. And she can sing in several languages so she's the perfect candidate for this one. Here's the link to her profile:

https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/855066

This one is a 10 the way it stands, adding vocals will take it up another notch. I'll check back to see what happens. As I always say with your work Timmons - OUTSTANDING!!! I hope all is well.

Thanks again Bear, you always know how to lift spirits. I may look around for some talent for it. I've already sent it out to a broader spectrum to see if I could find someone professionally. But again, thank you for listening. It is always a pleasure to hear from you! I hope you and your family are doing well.

on Evolution - ID - Colab Request by 500000
I'm no expert on house, but I like where you are headed with this one. Great intro, and the song has some really strong elements to it. I have a feeling when you add the vocals, things are going to change quite a bit to accomodate them. It will be interesting to revisit this one and see what happens to it. There are some great female vocalists on this site, so hopefully you can find the right "dance partner" for this one. I hope all is well.

on Acoustic Guitar with Talking African Drum by UChris
I miss Daniel around here, he's such a talented guitarist. You really added a whole new dimension to his track. Terrific work with the flute as always. As Zeerb said, this is nicely chilled - like iced tea on a hot afternoon. Beautiful tone and a beautiful song. Well done.

on Might of Titans by SubFreq
Grotesk is one mad talented dude. My only complaint is why only 2 minutes long? I would have loved another verse and chorus. But that's a good thing, always leave them wanting a bit more.

Really well done and you received good advice from radioilluminati. People have volume knobs and they can use them - that's why I can crank all of my equipment to 11 hahaha. Seriously, really good work. I hope all is well.

SubFreq
SubFreq replied 15th Apr 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks man! After listening to this track hundreds of times I felt that if I made it 2 minutes long it would increase the chance people would re-play it again. Agreed, Grotesk is extremely talented, after hearing the original instrumental I knew SubHuman could bring out it's full potential.

on I dont need you featuring Stephanie Kay by RichieWinn
Well, I guess senility has finally set in, not sure how I missed this one but I am glad I discovered it.

This is radio ready Richie, absolutely amazing from start to finish. Sublime piano work, and the guitars, holy cow, a master's class in how to play one.

Mix is perfect as is the whole song. Nothing here but a massive amount of respect for the great musician/producer/arranger that you are. Beautiful work Richie and Steve. I hope all is well.

Hi Barry

Thank you so much for the comments - it really makes it all worthwhile when fellow musicians appreciate the efforts made. Steve is simply an amazing guitarist and arranger and class always shows.

Yes, I would love to hear this on the radio!!

Best

on No sleep tonight ft Bonnie Rabson by smallpaul
Now that is my kind of drum and bass! A combination of drum and bass and jazz fusion....I think you might be on to something here. Skillfully constructed, and a great mix. Piano work was spot on as well. Nothing to critique here, just a well done song. Hope all is well.

on Illusions by larrywiggles1
Hey Mark, really well done (except for that bass line, haha). Maybe if you still have all the pieces parts you can eliminate that short section through there until the 2:35 mark, then maybe line up that bass line through 3:02 (maybe chop it up a bit to make it fit the rhythm). Other than that I really enjoyed the effort. Hope the knee is better and all is well.

Hi Bear,

Great to hear from you, and thanks for your honest comments, glad you liked in essence and spot on with the bass line!! I appreciate your constructive comments and will definitely have a go with what you suggest, a big thanks for that. Knee now full recovered ( unlike me!! ) and things are fine. Hope all is well your end.

Very best wishes,

Mark/Larry!

on Gentle Persuasion by Tatiacha
Pretty incredible the way you assembled all of those loops and made such a great cohesive piece of music. Great cinematic value on it as well.

I lived in Brookings for several years, and Gold Beach was always a great place for a lunch stop :)

Really good effort on this piece. Keep up the great work.

on On the Road by MisterAllea
MisterAllea, this is a great composition, that shows a lot of thought - and talent. Beautiful piano work, I always love a piano in minor keys, but when you add the strings, that's where the true emotion of the piece comes into play. I can definitely see this one working in a film.

Stellar work my friend. I hope all is well.

on Here I Am by Holly
Hey Holly, it's Bear here (Barry Morgan). Your voice is better than ever, but you illustrate your mad compositional skills with this one as well.

I figured you would be famous by now (wake up record companies, she's a star waiting to be discovered). Your voice is simply as good as it gets, it really is radio ready.

This song is definitely a "add to favorites" and it really is good to see/hear you again. Beautiful track. I hope all is well. Welcome back.

on Leaving The Shadow by MOONLYTE
Outstanding work EYEDYE. You have a nice quality to your voice. I think if you had an opportunity to sing this one in a studio you would be amazed at how good you would sound.

This one has huge potential, especially if you want to add instrumentation (strings, bass, guitar, and possibly some percussion). It has an epic feel to it as it stands, but a ton of potential as well if you want to take it to another level. Really sounds like something Coldplay would do (and I happen to really like Coldplay's music). Very nice job. I hope all is well.

I've always been a fan of the pan flute, and have listened to Zamfir for a long time. This song reminds me of some of his work. Beautifully arranged as always and such a joy to listen to Behnam. Like all of your work, this one is special indeed.

This went perfectly with my morning coffee. Thank you my friend for the peaceful interlude this morning. I hope all is well.

I have to agree with the others....this one definitely has "liquidity" to it, flows so nicely. Mix is really crisp as well. Great little track that's been produced nicely. Nothing to critique here, just a really enjoyable listen on a sunny Sunday morning. This song, plus my coffee, made my day start out just right. I hope all is well.

oh yes I'm better .
i'm not a singer just sing what I hear in my head but promise to sing bette next time .
I'm a fan of opera and theatrical sound tracks
and composing a proper platfrom for that genre needs more knowledge and skills than mine .
I've just found many marvelous loops from you to create a classical composition.
I promise second will be better than this first attempt .
i am honoured to see your comment .
really appreciate your feedback and support.

on The Summer Of Minor Regrets by Orlando51
Just to echo the others, there is nothing to critique here...this one is ready for a film!!! It has a Celtic feel to it, maybe because of the haunting violin.

Beautiful piano work throughout as well.

Everything is spot on.

God what a beautiful piece of music Orlando, from start to finish. Absolutely flawless like a 20ct. diamond.

Beautiful, simply beautiful. I hope all is well.

ShortBusMusic
First thing I want to know, is when this hits the big time, who do they write out the check to.....Mark or Larry, hahaha.

Like the others have said, a few minor tweaks to the mix would take this one over the top. Just a suggestion, but maybe bring the acoustic/vocals up to the level of synths, etc. in the mix. While the acoustic and vocals in the beginning are nice and soft....and sitting a bit to the right in the mix (at least in my headphones), I think they are missing that stereo picture that would really benefit them. They seem a bit flat and mono compared to the rest of the piece.

Anyway, I'm simply nitpicking here. It really is a great tune even if you leave it the way it is right now. Great job Mark...er Larry, haha. I hope all is well.

Behnam, you my friend are a genius....absolutely a genius. I would like to echo Steve's sentiments about you taking up a great cause, and this song absolutely captures the gut wrenching emotion that comes from thinking about all of those kids being forced into slave labor.

This song demands a video!!!! Man, this is so good on so many different levels....and that guitar is just fantastic.

And for all of the links.
