on Pages Of My Past RMX feat Farisha by brotbackautomat
Wonderful work. The chord progressions are spot on, great dynamics, and it sounds just fine on my system. Not sure why it would sound like it is coming through a chimney on your end, but it is stellar work on my end. Mix sounds spot on as well. I think Farisha would be thrilled with this remix. Skillful execution and a great result. Well done. I hope all is well.

Yes, this is one crisp mix, shows a really professional ear. I see you are a sound engineer so I have an idea you might have had something to do with the production on it :) This one is radio ready. I'm not a fan of deep house, but I am a fan of good music and this is really good music. Well done.

Not sure what I expected, but it is a lot better than I thought it was going to be - I think any issues you have are more production related. Conceptually, this is a winner.

I think you should probably revisit the mix and widen things out a bunch. Don't be afraid to get a large stereo field....maybe warm the vocals up a bit. The clipping issues can be resolved in a new mix. It also might help to move some of the instruments in the mix, maybe pan your rhythm guitar to the right, lead guitar to the left. Drums and bass to the middle (think about how a band is set up, then line up the instruments just like that in your mix). You could triple your vocals and then pan one left, one right and one down the middle. Add subtle fx to the vox....a different type of fx on each vocal track until you get a big fat sound.

It has a ton of potential and reminds me of Eminem in spots. Well done. I hope all is well.

on Same Old Thing- FEEDBACK WANTED by lrini
I like what I hear. Once again, you have a really nice voice. The problem you are having with the mix is trying to mix a vocal track into an already mixed mp3....something that is really hard to do. If you had all of the individual instrument tracks and could load them in your DAW, then add your vocals, you would hear a whole different song. Perhaps the original artist still has the original files and could share them with you. If not, it is still a good effort considering what you had to work with. If you have mixing questions, I would be happy to try and help. I'm no expert but I would be happy to help where ever I can. Well done.

on Intro-Get High With Me Rough Draft for Feedback by lrini
First let me say welcome to Looperman. We can always use another great vocalist and I think you fit in that category nicely. You have nice control, great use of dynamics, and pretty spot on pitch. Probably the most impressive thing is you recorded this with a laptop mic.

One thing to remember when you buy a mic, most condensor mics require phantom power. Instead of buying a power source as well as a mic, you may want to research USB mics. Something like the MXL 990 USB Powered Condenser Microphone - $135 should work with your laptop just fine.

If you have access to a Guitar Center, Sweetwater, or other big store, go in and try out the different models and make sure the salesman knows what your setup is like....computer, software, etc. so you get the right mic for the job.

I think you have a bright future in singing. Do it yourself recording does require a bit of an investment as well as a learning curve, but there is an abundance of knowledge on this site that people are happy to share with you. Good luck.

on while not asleep increment sheep by doudei
Hey Savino, this is really nice work. Great jazz/fusion piece that took a lot of thought to put together. Like Steve suggested, I think mastering this will take care of a few of the issues some people have raised. I think the beautiful thing about jazz/fusion is the way people all interpret it differently. Personally, I was extremely impressed with what you have done here and I would not change a thing. I can tell you that this piece held my attention from start to finish. And I definitely added it to my favorites.

Really well done in all aspects. You have my admiration and respect. Thanks for sharing this. I hope all is well.

on Jason Only Gets Two Hits by Evisma
Hey Evan, this is quality work man. I know it isn't finished yet, but it is one hell of a good start. Nice job at the 40 second mark with the addition of the synth, very cool. I also like the transition between 1:00 and 1:35. One thing you might consider is adding some strings in that 35 second span to give you a nice build to the change at 1:35. You might also consider adding strings all the way from 1:00 through the end (can you tell I love string sections, haha). Anyway, quality work and I really look forward to the finished product. I hope all is well.

on Man Of Action by TinyFinger
Hey TinyFinger, this song has a lot of potential and really would be great if you could find a vocalist to sing on it. Love your guitar work on this one, nice rich rock tone on all of it. I'm not sure I'm in love with the drums in the first section, but I do think the addition of vocals might help them not stand out so much (I think the tom that is panned to the right is the one that I would consider changing). But that is just nitpicking on my part. It really is a good start to what could be a great track. Hopefully one of the great vocalists on this site will hear it and decide to add their magic. I hope all is well.

You are a man of many talents, including the ability to sing. I enjoyed this. As both Wayne and Doudei said, you can always go back and redo the vox, but I have to say I thought it sounded pretty good.

I really liked your instrumental work as well. You always have great compositions. Very nicely done.

Kudos for a great song. I hope all is well.

Well Jerry, I heard you sing country, now I thought I would see how you did on the blues...

FANTASTIC!!!!

Great backing track, and such a marvelous delivery on the vocals. Wow, takes me back to some great times in clubs in Austin listening to some really great blues work.

You have mad chops. I'm definitely a fan. I hope all is well.

Jerry, I had a moment to stop by and give a listen to one of your tracks. I am impressed. Randy is one of the best musicians I know, and pairing his work with your terrific vocals....well, it's a match made in country heaven :)

Beautiful work sir. Great lyrics, and a super rich tone to your voice. Outstanding effort by both of you. I'm not sure how I missed this, but I'm glad I found it. Thanks for sharing. I hope all is well.

on Move Your Body Ft ThaSuspect1 by SeriouslyJoking
I think Steve is dead on - you really have grown at an exponential rate and rapidly put yourself at the top of the list of great composers on this site. If that is you on the piano throughout this one, then you have skills on that as well.

All I can say is I have a massive amount of respect for what you have accomplished here. I know nothing about the genre, but I do know a little something about the level of difficulty in creating something this good. You should be proud of this one, because it really is stellar work.

Well done. I hope all is well.

Hi Bear!
So nice of you to write this - your amazing piano loops were the first ones I ever used in a song from this site a little over a year ago and I remember you not being overly impressed by the result and rightly so, it was horrendous!! =D
So I guess you really can tell the differences between now and then.

This was a fun song to make and I think a lot of the reason why it worked out was because of the pella, it's an interesting pella and gives a lot of ideas to build the instrumental up on.

About the piano, some of it is mine, but there is also a pianoloop underneath. I'm only placing out notes on the pianoroll in FL at the moment and don't have a midi or a real piano but I hope that will change in the future.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving these engouraging words! And all the best to you and your loved ones.
/ SJ =)

Patricia, I've heard your pellas hundreds of times in songs written by hundreds of different producers, but I have to say when Patricia Edwards and Richie Winn team up it is absolute solid gold. I just wish some record company would come along and recognize the true greatness of you (and Richie). Until they do, all of us here at Looperman will continue to marvel at your talents.

You guys rock, but I think you already knew that :) This song is one of my all time favorites. Again, really really really well done. I hope all is well.

No critique here, just a massive amount of respect for a job well done. The fact you were able to use a vocal track in a different tempo makes this one all the more impressive.

I wouldn't change a thing. I think indie/trip hop works just fine for the genre and I would love to hear more like this one.

Really well done Cognac, really, really great effort. Props to you and the great vocalist. I hope all is well.

Thanks Bear! Later last night I realized when mixing my guitar tracks, my aux. track was not muted, and while holding my guitar, a couple sounds from that were in the mix. SO I remixed it, added a few goodies out of pro tools and sounds better!

Wow, wow and wow....you keep improving with every song, and have now placed yourself at the top of the list when it comes to comsposition, arranging, and production. This is nothing short of brilliant.

I always forget you can only play the toilet paper roll kazzoo....so the fact that this was done using loops is even more impressive.

Beautiful job Charlene, really, really beautiful work. Thanks for making my morning a little more special with this one.

This comment made my day, so thank you! It was all about timing with this track, I mean the timing of when I worked on it. Yesterday was the perfect moment to get the lead vocals right, and I feel like I got a decent take. Hard to accept so many compliments at once, especially from a musician I respect deeply. I appreciate the fave, and the listen! Hope you are well!

Steve, what a great way to start out my day!! First, thanks for the shoutout in the title, haha. For someone who has only been at this a few years, you have mad skills my friend. An absolutely beautiful track. I'm happy you were able to find a use for some of my loops, and that you put me in the same song with Magix loops (they are some of the best out there). Beautifully chilled, masterfully executed, and marvelously produced. I hope all is well.

It was a very hard thing to do Bear lol you had such a selection of loops and it took a while to get a collection of loops that blended well. There are a few different bpm's mixing in well from your collection and a few of Magix so it was logical to give it the name :)

Thanks for the use of your loops and hope that I can use some more in the future :)

Glad you liked it too mate.

on Keeping the faith - Verse 1 by Killumineye
I think Steve gives some really good advice here.

First, the instrumental is really good, great chord progressions, really nice flow.

The vox are simply a matter of confidence. I usually tell people that when they record vocals, they need to sing them like they would if they were all alone in their car. If you approach your vocal work like that, I think you will find your voice is actually really good. I too would love to hear this one with you doing another recording of the vox, and cutting out a few of the effects. Again, the instrument beds on this one are outstanding and I think you can match that level with your vocals with a bit of confidence. I look forward to hearing this one when you get it finished. I hope all is well.

Not my normal genre to listen to, but I have to say this really was an enjoyable listen. Thoughtful melody line, great chord progression and a sterling mix. I can't offer any kind of suggestions for improvement, but a "Warning, this track is on 11" would have helped me keep the paintings on the wall, hahaha. Outstanding Scott. I played trombone in a jazz group for a while a long time ago, and I have to say this brought back great memories for me. Extremely well done, with some really nice guitar work.

If anyone believes playing fusion is easy, all they need to do is give it a go and they will find out it takes a huge amount of talent, and you and Franco are gifted with immense amounts of talent.

Definitely one of the best jazz/fusion tracks I've heard in a long, long time. Well done gents. I hope all is well.

Wow, Bear...Your high praise really humbles me, especially coming from you and knowing of YOUR talent!

As stated in the comments, I almost gave up on this one, but it was too good to just let die unfinished. I do love fusion mainly for the challenge. I'm glad I brought it back for another go.

Thanks much for your listen and comment. Franco and I really appreciate it.
