on Sweetest Sin by Mosaic
Interesting concept here. I'll be honest, I love the sections from 1:14 thru 2:00 and again at the 3:30 thru the end. Seems like the vocals mesh really well with the instruments on those two sections.

The other parts of the song have a lot of syncopation which adds to the feeling that those sections are just a bit off beat. But it works, and that's the amazing thing about it all. I enjoyed the effort and think you should try another rock tune. You have a feel for the genre. I hope all is well.

Hey Bear

Friend thank you for the review of this one, you should know me by now, I do things a little different lol, especially when doing other genre's then trance lol...Seriously thinking of doing another in the future, want to try some other genre's first, apart from the shite pop track working on at moment, have a cinematic piece coming on weekend...Again thank you friend for your continuing support, means a lot from you...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...

on Hypnotic Larry Wiggles aka Mark Jeffries by larrywiggles1
So, I think you are this incredibly talented mad scientist who is able to assemble these awesome tracks from loops.

Something I cannot do.

Really good work Mark, and I think the mix sounds pretty good. I have nothing constructive to add, just a big congratulations on a job well done. Tell Larry hello, hahahaha.

Hey Steve, I have to agree with FR. Nothing I can say to improve on this one, it is really well done. Really tight mix on it, really tight. Outstanding effort. I hope all is well.

on Lost in Time by benjizo
Nicely done Benjizo. Has a really nicely chilled vibe, but still a bit of an edge because of the drums. I would have to believe that there are a ton of rappers out there who would love to lay down some vocals on this one. Very good effort (really enjoyed the change at the 1:50 through 2:05 mark). I hope all is well.

I loved the first 20 seconds, but when that bass comes in at the 1:20 mark, I start drooling all over, hahaha. There is absolutely nothing to critique here Evan, the mix is solid, transitions are well done, and that bass line is like candy....

Added to favorites my friend. I wouldn't change a thing. I hope all is well.

on Mandela by VicaMOOR
Interesting use of minor chords and dissonance...a little unusual for reggae music, but in this case it really works. Gives the piece a sense of sadness, which I'm sure with the title, perhaps you were mourning the passing of one of the world's greatest people.

Really beautiful track, that would really be enhanced if someone could put some vocals on it. I think with vocals, this one could be something that could be a huge commercial success (I love the addition of Mandela's speech in this).

Anyway, stellar effort here. My hat's off to you on a well done track. I hope all is well.

Sadness? I was hoping for more of a inspirational yet uplifting piece. lol. And I was thinking the same thing about the vocalist.

So, there is not a lot that will get me off my duff and up and moving around, but this track did exactly that. And something else, I felt GOOD listening to this...hard not to smile while moving to the beat.

I never pay much attention to genres, but I do pay attention to great music, and this track fits that category nicely. I loved the break at the 2:55 mark, gave me a few seconds to catch my breath, hahaha. I love this tune!!! Added to favorites and downloaded for those days when I don't get enough coffee (thank you for that). A whole lot of awesomeness right here. I hope all is well.

Really nice work here....I especially liked the way you morphed all of the vocals - nicely done. Great dance vibe on this one, mix sounds spot on. I think I preferred the second half of the song. Much better use of dissonance in the chord progressions. Overall a really well done tune. Congrats.

The genre is very new. It is Ethnic Swedish Power Party House.

Many people think ethnic music is made by people with darker skin playing an obscure instrument out in the jungle somewhere. But this is Swedish ethnic music. haha

Catchy title FR :) You do have this way of weaving seamless transitions throughout your music. Mad skills. Maybe you should look into being a DJ. Hell, Paris Hilton is doing DJ work here in the US, and I know you could do way better than she does, haha. And they say being born into money doesn't have its advantages. Awesome work brother. Hope all is well.

Thanks, yeah this one turned out ok because i've finally resigned myself to the fact that posting tunes mixed on headphones damages your street cred (what there is of it)
I have since returned to using the sound system and the mix quality is just so much better. The trouble is that nobody ever tells you that your mixdown is crap, so you don't know until you listen to it on the sound system.
Anyway, thanks for dropping by and listening to my epic track.

on Schnell by DouglasS
I would have to echo Static's comments. It is obvious that you are an accomplished keyboard player, but also a highly skilled composer and arranger. This one shows a great deal of thought and effort went into the production as well. Like SN said, I love the BALANCE on this one (something many on the Loop struggle to achieve).

I can see this one being a huge success in the many clubs here in Las Vegas. You would have them fully engaged. Hopefully some DJ is listening and will put this one on his track list. Really well done.

Thanks for the kind comments. I struggle with balance quite a bit with most of my tracks, so I am glad that it sounds balanced and well arranged. Thank you again for the high praise.

I know you have put your instruments away and parted company with music, but I am still so happy to find some of your work still posted here for all of us to enjoy. You truly have such marvelous abilities and it is such a shame that your circumstances don't allow for the expression of those talents. I listen with both a mix of sadness and happiness. Sad that you are no longer creating music, but happy that there are still gems like this one out there for us to all enjoy. I hope life is treating you well Behnam. All my best to you.

on Have You Seen My Girl by Mykael
Mykael, outstanding vocal work. I suspect you are trying to mix your vocals into an already mixed track.....if so, it will be virtually impossible to get them to sit in the mix like you want them to.

I'm not criticizing your mixing skills (it sounds pretty good), but I think this has a ton of potential if mixed and mastered properly. That's the nit picking part of the review.

Now for the fun - man you have such great vocal chops. You have the potential to really be a star, you just need the right material and the right studio. You find that and dude, you are going to go places. Just remember I've got a bus and I can play a little guitar and piano as well as haul your equipment, haha.

Very nicely done. I'll keep checking back for edits to this one. I hope all is well.

The reward goes out to you for making me laugh so hard, my dog woke up and took notice! (referencing "haul your equipment").

I am grateful for your comments and encouragement. You are among the best artists on this site(IMHO)whose thoughts matter to me, so trust me when I tell ya if there is ever a time when you do need to be "critical" of something of mine you've listened to, I'm ALL ears. With that said I'm VERY happy you enjoyed what you heard.

Love & Light,

on EXOTIC INSTRUMENTAL by Timmons2
Man Timmons, you are bringing it with this one. As for getting a vocalist for it, I think Carole (if she has the time) would be perfect for this one. Not only does she write great lyrics, she sings like an angel. And she can sing in several languages so she's the perfect candidate for this one. Here's the link to her profile:

https://www.looperman.com/users/profile/855066

This one is a 10 the way it stands, adding vocals will take it up another notch. I'll check back to see what happens. As I always say with your work Timmons - OUTSTANDING!!! I hope all is well.

Thanks again Bear, you always know how to lift spirits. I may look around for some talent for it. I've already sent it out to a broader spectrum to see if I could find someone professionally. But again, thank you for listening. It is always a pleasure to hear from you! I hope you and your family are doing well.

on Evolution - ID - Colab Request by 500000
I'm no expert on house, but I like where you are headed with this one. Great intro, and the song has some really strong elements to it. I have a feeling when you add the vocals, things are going to change quite a bit to accomodate them. It will be interesting to revisit this one and see what happens to it. There are some great female vocalists on this site, so hopefully you can find the right "dance partner" for this one. I hope all is well.

on Might of Titans by SubFreq
Grotesk is one mad talented dude. My only complaint is why only 2 minutes long? I would have loved another verse and chorus. But that's a good thing, always leave them wanting a bit more.

Really well done and you received good advice from radioilluminati. People have volume knobs and they can use them - that's why I can crank all of my equipment to 11 hahaha. Seriously, really good work. I hope all is well.

SubFreq
SubFreq replied 15th Apr 2014 - 11 years ago
Thanks man! After listening to this track hundreds of times I felt that if I made it 2 minutes long it would increase the chance people would re-play it again. Agreed, Grotesk is extremely talented, after hearing the original instrumental I knew SubHuman could bring out it's full potential.

Well, I guess senility has finally set in, not sure how I missed this one but I am glad I discovered it.

This is radio ready Richie, absolutely amazing from start to finish. Sublime piano work, and the guitars, holy cow, a master's class in how to play one.

Mix is perfect as is the whole song. Nothing here but a massive amount of respect for the great musician/producer/arranger that you are. Beautiful work Richie and Steve. I hope all is well.

on Illusions by larrywiggles1
Hey Mark, really well done (except for that bass line, haha). Maybe if you still have all the pieces parts you can eliminate that short section through there until the 2:35 mark, then maybe line up that bass line through 3:02 (maybe chop it up a bit to make it fit the rhythm). Other than that I really enjoyed the effort. Hope the knee is better and all is well.

Great to hear from you, and thanks for your honest comments, glad you liked in essence and spot on with the bass line!! I appreciate your constructive comments and will definitely have a go with what you suggest, a big thanks for that. Knee now full recovered ( unlike me!! ) and things are fine. MisterAllea, this is a great composition, that shows a lot of thought - and talent. Beautiful piano work, I always love a piano in minor keys, but when you add the strings, that's where the true emotion of the piece comes into play. I can definitely see this one working in a film.

Hey Holly, it's Bear here (Barry Morgan). Your voice is better than ever, but you illustrate your mad compositional skills with this one as well.

I figured you would be famous by now (wake up record companies, she's a star waiting to be discovered). Your voice is simply as good as it gets, it really is radio ready.

This song is definitely a "add to favorites" and it really is good to see/hear you again. Beautiful track. I hope all is well. Welcome back.
