I`m good with electro..or whatever else people say...but I will say you seem to have a good way of just disregarding the genre boxes & doing damn good listening music Silverman...Top notch track going on here and I really enjoyed the listen...and ain`t that what counts....Cheers...Ed
I think DesignedImpression has a good idea Cindy...he does some really good string sounds...this is quite different...and thats a good thing...It has quite a bit of tension with appropriate breaks...always good to hear your creativity...keep this one going...Ed
Nice easy listening up my way this evening Ernest...like the piano bit...nice panning & rich sound contrast with the backing...very cool track...I don`t know much about trap...its just good music that leaves the listener feeling good....Ed
It has a really nice flow Joe...perhaps a little dark, but to me its more of a calm mood...I like the minimalist approach, and you have the perfect voice for this...I like the music but I think your voice is the star...really well done...I like it...Ed
That is a really nice comment Ed
Always good to read some positive stuff about my vocal work, cause deep inside i am more a singer than a musician.
Good to hear that you could enjoy the song.
Hey Daniel...this is top notch man...did you do the vocal?...its really well done & mixed...definitely finish it...good laid back R&B just the way it should be....cheers...Ed
You have a good sound going on justlooking75...agree with danke`s comments on repetitiveness...a key change somewhere along the line would kick it up a notch...thanks for finding good use with one of my loops & the good musical company you put me in...the fun of listening is why a lot of us upload.....cheers....Ed
Hi Ed, thanks for your comments. Danke is always good company, agreed. Both of you make some really cool loops. There were 2 off your loops if you listen carefully. keep up your great work. Thanks for taking the time.
nice wide percussion mix..did you use some m-s processing on it?...I`m a bit beat driven myself so I dig the drums (nice snappy snare with just a touch of crunch)..that wind is calm compared to what we have had here on the prairies the last while..haha...I like it...has a cool head-nodding jazz feel...always hear great creativity here at your place....and thats always a very good thing...well done...Ed
I actually blended many percussive 'tracks'. The main loop is http://www.looperman.com/loops/detail/76448/jazz-brushes-drum-loop-120-d-by-saintkuz-free-120bpm-jazz-drum-loop (I pasted wrong link yesterday) and it is a quality one. Everything else is simply myself playing directly on the keyboard (my favorite way of composing:) and this time I used only the Casio keyboard. I was never a huge fan of the sound bank of this particular one as for the main part it is just a digital piano with weighted keys that I am using for practising but now I see it has fine patches as well. So the bass drum and snare drum is just a Casio drumset, many other percussive 'ghosts' drum sounds in the background as well. I used different delays and manipulated the stereo spactrum of the track (all software effects as I do not have any real ones so far). I recorded some parts already wet effects (it is inspiring and positively affecting the character of actual playing sometimes) - some other tracks were moved and manipulated/effected afterwards. It is really hard to explain as I didn't use any strict recipe. As for the mid side processing I think the drum loop and the acapella http://www.looperman.com/acapellas/detail/8431/whisper-3-by-soleilxlune-1bpm-spoken-word-acapella were already somehow processed and very nicely effected: around the middle section of the song I only multitracked the vox and panned one track hard left, the second somewhere to the right side of the stereo 'edge'. Those 2 tracks are placed in different time areas on the composition timeline. That was my way to create even more 'space'. The actual 'wind' quality is only on the acapella but I used also one of the sax sounds of Casio - this one has fine 'breathing' qualities too.
A quickly improvised music this time than a concrete, solid composition. I am glad you liked what I did! Thanks a lot for very nice words and your support! It is much appreciated.
Alex
Has a nice laid back chill feel X...I think the side chaining gives it a kind of rhythmic flow that works well (I don`t use side chaining much myself) Maybe there is a happy medium if were pulled back just a little.... It gives the synth brass in the middle bit a nice kind of pumping brass vibe although I`m not crazy about synth brass myself...like the higher keys...does have a bit of an R&B vibe so strikes some nice ground between chill & R&B....sounds good over my way.....Ed
Hey Ed, yeah thats what i was thinking the sidechain gives some flow, some momentum but its my first time using it in this type of song so ill learn from this and progress in the next :)
"sounds good over my way"
Good, Good!
Thanks for the feedback Ed.
Always Appreciated bud :)
You know I dig this...that always seems to be the case when I listen to music by Orlando...and its always an honour to be in your musical company my friend....bravo.....big fav....Ed
I have well learned that getting a fav from maestro Tumbleweed is not an easy achievement, so I can be sure and calm that I did ok this time ! It's my huge pleasure knowing that I was able to satisfy your high standards. It's very hard to repeat such level again and again, but at least I always try... However I'm sharing this fav with you cause what i did it could not have been done without you and your friendly support....Thank you so much my friend !:)
Hey tblack...maybe its not straight country..maybe country folk rock..but who cares about genres...its qualifies as just good ol straight up honest music and thats always good in my book...you have a unique voice...sounds really good...just the right character for this kind of song...well done man....keep on...Ed
PS: you should mark this one as featured..deserves a lot more listens
hey i really appreciate that !! i actually do have it marked as featured.. not sure how to get more views . where can i send you the vocal for your song wonderland?
Oh yeah...love those big rich pad sounds and the acoustic piano...the bass is top notch too Filaofsoul...its music with soul that smooths the day and leaves you with a smile...if it wasn`t warm here already this would warm up the place (even if they call it Chillout)...way to go...keep on....Ed
Hey man thanks for stopping by and taking a listen. Good to see some of the originals still in the fold. This was a on and off 9 month project go get me back in the groove again. Got a couple more in the can so stay tuned. Again thanks for stopping by. Appreciated. FIlãofsoul
no weird really....and doesn`t sound like prune juice Deathbot....noted you said you were mixing on something other than quality speakers or phones...well, I`ve been mixing since tape days and I don`t think I could do any better with cans...I do think that the low end is missing..a nice fat bass line would bump it up nicely..but must say it sounds pretty good to me....keep on...Ed
I recall the earlier version Brado...man...I think you musit have it about as good as it gets...the vocal is just excellent....the accompaniment is as good as anything my radio plays (I like it better)..and the production work & detail is obvious...I hope you do really well in the contest...is it anywhere we can vote without having to sign up etc?.....all the best...Ed
Ozone is excellent for mastering (and limiting) MG...but too much limiting gives you those flat edges on your mix (wav graphic)..just some compression first...then soft limiting so that the mix has room to breathe and the instruments have all the dynamics...you are close...just less loud/limiting is fine...if you listen to your mix on your MP3 player..and then a commercial/radio mix of a song you like, you will likely find that the radio song is a bit quieter...It also helps to use what is called a soft knee limiter so that the sound is gradually limited....others may not agree with me, but I would rather hear the good quality instead of the loudness...on the quieter spots (drops) just automate your fader/volume to bring it up a bit....keep doing your music...its always fun and don`t worry too much about the technical things...our friends here on LM just try to help when they can offer some input....cheers....Ed
nice upbeat track MG...it is happy listening over here in Western Canada....well done...I see you have some comments on the production...I agree...a little less limiting on the main sections...and a bit more volume on the drops would make it even better...but it is already very good...leaves a smile....Ed
great work on the keys ronabo...smoooooth listening and nice rich sounds going on...other t5han the ending, I don`t think you really need to change anything..and as far as the ending...one chord with a long fade cymbal would do the trick....well done...Ed
Thanks Ed! I will be making changes to the song to try to improve the flow. I might just give your ending chord with long fade cymbal a shot. Again, thanks for listening and commenting.
those compliments I see sure are well deserved Rhodsey...I really appreciate the thoughtful composing & arranging that went into this one...the playing is superb (and I think that is standard fare for you)..nice to hear an instrument played with feeling and the perfect pacing/touch to fly above the usual...and then the mix is presented with quality production....guess that makes the whole thing about as good as it gets...great job...much respect to you....Ed
Great to have comments like those coming from the man with the golden touch!I really dug deep on this one Ed but was not overly confident upon posting it - I am glad i did now as people seem to be enjoying this one. Rhodesy
Really enjoyed this one Cestevens..nice clean wide mix on the acoustic...just right drums..like danke I did miss the bass but its so good otherwise that doesn`t matter...your vocal is the star....great job...Ed
Its obvious a lot of great work has gone into both the performance and the mix/production Brado...I can`t really think of any obvious to suggest (maybe I`m a biased listener as I like this kind of music ) the string part around 2:35 is fab..maybe it deserves a little more prominence. I think the vocals will influence any changes you may want to make but non seem obvious to me as it now stands..I`m guessing that the vocals may fight a little with the dominant high mids in the guitar tracks but you can always tweak them with a bit of eq/volume automation and throw in some mid-side processing if you need to further widen them out of the way...sounds good to me...good luck to you in the contest....Ed
I need to learn how to use M/S processing as I am still very basic in my knowledge of effects and compression. If you know of any particularly good videos that can help me improve in this area, feel free to send me a message!
Its just damn good in any genre TuneDef...great job on the lyrics & delivered with real feeling..the accompaniment is good (supports the vocal well) but your vocal performance is the star here...bravo.....Ed
love that guitar solo T.G...but gotta say I really like the whole mix..there is just something about real instruments that give the track more of a special live/real feel..this whole thing just hangs together perfectly..and every player & vocalist here should take a big bow...cheers from an old player across the water...Ed
Thanks man, appreciate your comments. As you said, there is something about real instruments that I like too. And I am crap at programming synth or drums :D :D :D
That Spanish sun is nice and warm...so is the sound on that guitar...there are getting to be some really nice sounding software guitars & they go great when you use them right like this...Great feel to this one jamid and the minimal mix really lets everything sound nice & clean & uncluttered..good vibes reaching all the way across to my place....great job mate...keep em coming...Ed
My Dear Legend Ed.
Such nice feedback about my guitar sound from a Legend and a master of guitar, it should be cherished ever.
Thanks mate for your kind support.

its got the whole high mountain vibe Orlando...with the sky floating by and the mystics in the valley below beneath the light mist that floats over the valleys...great stuff...much enjoyed though I am very late here this time..this was a fine tonic this evening...Ed
Hey, hey Ed...seems like you've been away for ages...
Welcome back !:) Well yeah, I did some obvious ambient/cinematic stuff again to bore my listeners even more...haha...However, as always my thanks and appreciation for your supportive words, my friend ! I'm a bit on a tight schedules lately so my next projects (including your material) will have to wait a bit. Cya around soon!
Now, that is what I would call well controlled playing...you really nailed it Rhodesy...just the perfect touch to convey great melody...superb job my friend..best acoustic tune I have heard in a very long time.....Ed
Hey oh masterful one..i had a suspicion you would appreciate this little doodling my friend.Amazing generous comments from you.You inspire us all,not just with your playing.:)Take care dude.
