ian man thanks for giving a listen to these tracks. it’s been a difficult year and i entered some pretty altered states. i think something approaching half of any free time i had i spent mining freesound and just free-associating w them. the teetering was actual, so don’t try that at home!
fun fact: the little uh-uh-uh voice in part 2 and that’s heard at the end is an emperor penguin.
hope your holidays have been peaceful and sustaining for the year to come.
i’d been playing around w the intro sounds for a while before the vox magically fell into place and steered things in a hiphop direction. i heightened the already somewhat occluded vox, i like having to guess at lots of the words
great - love the she wants revenge track too - bit of post punk indie : ) yours is much more dreamy initially and then as wayne said theres something of a little homage or perhaps its just a signpost to mid 90's (in the final beats).
well i just went with what sounded yacht-worthy to me and added a bit of hangover spin on that. but the 90s sound speaks to my predilections, obviously! cheers, ian!
Enchanting intro with nice space and stereo spread with no hint of the wormhole that is about to open and take us to another dimension - once there it was calm for a moment and then the rhythm came and I wanted to hear where we were going to go next - it sounded like something I wanted to have more of. Always a wonderful journey for the ears mate - Im looking forward to hearing the other ones Ive missed. OH OH OH
Hi, thanks for the comments. The cheesiness is deliberate. At the end, I spent a bit of time coming up with a catchy melody. The synth I used (Serum) sounds great for this type of genre.
This is very classy - classic soulful blues with your own twist- the lyric is great, the vocal performance is spot on and the production sound is excellent.
Ha - rock on with Christmas - this is great - so much more engaging than jingle bells - love the attitude as much as the fast repetitive guitar riff too
Is that Santa or Beelzebub with the deep backing vox - he's welcome at my place either way : )
Fun and joy are always good things.
Celebrating a proper party because “the LORD” was born is probably the least you have to do. .....And happy people who sing to wild music and have fun can also be punks :)
And as for the guy who sang so darkly - I think it was "the thinking zombie". I don't know if you've gotten to know the forum yet. But there was a time when we really had a lot of fun with it and there was still something of a community here. Back then there was a Halloween challenge and in it (for me) “the thinking zombie” appeared for the first time. Just as smart as a human, just a zombie. There he played a live concert in a radio play with a protest song against stupid barbaric people...... And the guy in this song here just sounds exactly like "the thinking zombie"
All the best and a great x-mas to you and yours
stay tuned

Hi Ian, I'm very happy that you liked my track. When someone thanks you for a track and also gives it a fav, that must be the height of recognition. My dear friend, the dog loves you :o) woof woof
One hell of a vocal performance and great lyric - of course cant really go wrong with Danke (always brilliant) backing you
Doesnt look like anyone else thinks so but I think you are pushing the levels to the edge of clipping (you get away with it obviously) but that is the only thing Id tweak and that'd be hard if you didnt get the stems to mix that vox in. Nonetheless you did f...ing amazing
thanks for checking it mate i was super pleased with it, i didnt have all the stems just a single mp3, i listened to it 5 times btb and the song was wrote 1/2 hr later it was laid out and i was singing it off by heart asked for the music 1 take, no more than 2 hrs work max. and its possibly my most successful, well analytics wise anyway,
Hey - you know already I like this one - came up nicely and you stayed in gentle lofi ambience despite the drums - Id have probably fucked this up adding more!
Hey Ian, thanks mate. Doubt you'd have fucked it up, probably made it actually interesting! Have a good Christmas, I always like to hear from you. Cheers Chris
Hey mate - great lyric and another earworm I reckon - love the bass especially. Really well crafted too (some of the mix sounds just a little thin at times but that might be the different headphones I have on this morning - Ill listen again in a bit with others - or put it through the monitors and let you know)
thanks for stopping off mate, this was just a quickie really, bit of fun, ive had a few bangers and a few controversial ones since you been away but i was most impressed with this collab if you get a chance, hope you and your family are all good. https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/243878
gorgeous chill jazz - wonderful sax, deep soulful bass, chill beats and warm percs, nice keys or is it vibraphone and classy change ups - really enjoyed my listen - thanks
Yes, but quite questionable whether it will stay that way, because unfortunately a new user interface will be introduced there, with which the previous absolutely clear structure and clarity will then be a thing of the past.
Really really nice work - dreamy lost in the mist feel, great choice in terms of instrumentation, cool drums and percs and the vox sounds great in the mix - very well done.
This is fucking great - draws on so much and goes so many places but with such class and precision and sounding amazing and totally fresh- gave it a fav on first listen but didn't get to comment - love it. Congrats
Really Nice work - seems to me though that there is just a little clipping in the louder more full parts (hearing it now at the 2min mark) - as if speakers are overdriven. Manuela knows a lot more than me about structure and arrangement but I expect her advice will be golden as you continue to tweak this one and you most definitely should.
Hey Mike - just back from travels ... this one has some pointers to the animal collective to these old ears but lots of gorgeous jazz square wheel ambiance - a beautiful sonic trip.
Free sound sure is an endless draw of interesting things but I havent mastered how to craft with it yet - spent ages listening the sounds made on the Prague metro (I lived there once). Hope you are doing well
Ian
cheers Ian! i am mainly plundering freesound from the o-2 second range, but yeah i dig the long environment recordings too. on relisten i found this too torturous to bear. it’s been a bete noir but i have kinda sorted it out in the current version.
thanks for the words and ears, mate. i’m off to find what you’ve been up to!
Another really poignant track (im trying to catch up on what Ive missed). You done a lovely job with the backing track and have a powerful lyric and tenderly powerful vocal delivery mate - big congrats
thanks for the compliment Ian, i really felt this one, Matthias' music was great. its nice to see you around, hope all's well and we get something fresh from yourself soon, although time seems to be a factor for lots of us of late, me included, haven't done anything for a month
Hey Wayne - love it as usual - different guitar sound (I think) bit more old school telecaster like sound or is it a different amp (or simulation) anyway I like it
A few weeks back I bought a new "inspired by Gibson" 60's Epiphone Les Paul Smokehouse Burst and a newly re-released "The Guv'nor" Marshall amp emulator pedal, the JCM 800 is the amp it is based on. Totally new sound and gives me a new approach to making music, harder edge. It's pretty awesome!
Get down - there is some powerful surging and pulsing carrying us incessantly along here, love those swirling 808's and the dark atmosphere and driving beat.
Very cool - 90's dance wouldn't be my fav generally but this is so very well done - Donna Summer meets New Order meets Kraftwerk - Great sound production too with perfect space and balance in the mix to these old ears : )
Nice work - this slow beat and the vox manipulation has me thinking of Mitski (I could imagine her covering this see

Im encouraged to be a little more ambitiously crazy when I listen to what you do and how it comes together teetering on the edge of the abyss
