Thanks for the listen and for the comment, Dan! I used to be a beat-synth-loud kind of person, but, lately, I've been finding guitar loops to be cooler and cooler haha

it was a nice texture change at 4:12 when the active groove stopped and you brought the track to a close from the there. interesting solos and sax sounds. nice work!

your lyrics are so brilliant brother. "the hurt in my life is like wings that don't fly" I guess I could work on those wings so they could fly! beautiful orchestration of traditional instruments - and I love the samples. usually the orchestral instruments need a bit of tweaking and experience with the real thing to get right. you got it right in this track big time. big FAV!

if we don't open there is no way to exhaust, to breathe, to fill to hope to cope

before I die I would like to know how to get the kick like you do. I usually have to EQ my kick down to nothing to keep it from obliterating the rest of the track. would also like to learn that "wash" at the climax of the build to 1:24. interesting synth sounds all the way around. great energy. I just try not to let the levels get to high and just drop a bit out of the very low end of the spectrum. That wash thing was probably from a loop pack. A lot of my stuff is.

2:21 is a nice change of color in the groove in the percs. you definitely have the chill out feeling going as far as i am concerned. all the parts come through beautifully and the vocal really floats just right over the mix. thoroughly enjoyed. best! Dan

at the dog park yesterday this wolfdog came in and all the dogs freaked out and got all aggressive. lyric could be from the perspective of one of the frightened dogs. don't have anything other than a few word phrase ideas

i like how you faded out the percs around 1:40 - now it is a pure ambience for a few seconds. now reintroduction of melodic bit from beginning. now percs and bass finding their way back in. very nice. I guess at this point, from around 3:00 in or so you might be looking for some new material to add? beautiful work. sounds great. best of luck with it.

thanks for your comment.
In the beginning I wanted to add the melody in the second part, but I refused.
for me it was important to create the atmosphere and mood of around one motive, and I did not wanted other notes.
it was idea...

that sounds a little like the voice of Leonard Nimoy? Is that right? At about 2:40 you break up the beat a little and that is welcome. I suppose part of the concept might be to break things up more - go off on a few tangents to add variety. You could explore a minute or so of pure percs, for example. It is a compelling beat for sure. good luck with development.

I like the crazy sound at 1:06 that announces your upbeat groove. lots of interesting colors and really enjoying the listen. it's great to challenge oneself to achieve a higher level. all the best of luck with developing this one. it is a winner!

Pat - I am inspired by your work. Somebody mentioned "endless space in the sound field" that you are able to achieve. I have noticed this before - especially your control of the bass frequencies. Your comment made me really happy! I have been working really hard lately to deepen my understanding of frequencies and their relation to human hearing, and I think low frequencies are really important in that reaction. You can feel them as well as hear them, even at low volumes. Your words are very complimentary, so I thank you!

ahh - give me that sampled baritone sax! You have a great feel for the woodwinds and brass sounds. They are not always easy to coax into something believable and musical. You seem to get it. You really bring that old school band together beautifully in this one. really enjoyed listening.

I've worked with horns quite a bit in my career, so I have a great fondness for creating music with them.
