Thanks for the feedback midisparks. Yes vocals is awesome to start playing with. Looking at more ways of doing vocal vocoding somehow as well. Need to dig deeper to see what to do. Lots of fun!
it's a very professional, beautiful sounding mix. I really imagine live musicians in a session. sax solo at the end is very convincing. nice work. big inspirations.
i like the vocal sound you achieve. some nice mixing and effects going on. and now the male voice. I like when there several different voices in the track - creates a drama - a dialogue. the sounds are awesome. great job!
this is a rich sound. beautiful harmonies and sets the stage for a vocalist I would say. You could bring it down now, to just bass and very light touch of chords while vocalist lays down a lyric, etc. lots of potential for a great song. hope you find your way further with it. best regards - Dan
thank you very much for your kind comment, I'm looking for a vocalist on this track, someone that can add directions and ideas and collaborate too. ideally this should sound something like the older portished , so i'd be happy to add some electronic beat or sound
thanks again
i love how everything developed at the beginning into the main groove at 1:21. very patient, organic development. the solo works and effects are very cool. sometimes I strive for a bit more transparency. that is vague I know but maybe it gives you a clue for further improvements. nice work! Dan
the singing is very beautiful, very professional level for sure. your setting is sensitive - I am liking the guitar licks and solos very much! perhaps the mix is a bit hot?
so refreshing to hear this feel! never heard that talk-box effect at the beginning. that is a new sound for me. very slick arrangement and mix. neat solos by different instruments and of course the skatting is classic. When the piano takes a turn at 2:08 it is a perfect moment. fun track!
The talk-box has been around awhile. Most people knew of the talk-box from Peter Frampton's album. I don't know if it's used much in today's music, since, other than jazz, I don't listen to too much new stuff.
the vocals are sounding awesome. that burpy thing is a trip! I lovle "I'm different . . . " into instrumental. very neat. you're a trippy composer Spiv! ha ha! it's a killer track man - big congrats! fav!
Hey Dan, great to hear your feedback here and on soundcloud! That burpy thing is my voice through the 100 proof mic I built, then sampled in a simple way. It was from the first test of the mic, when I said "dance." I'm pretty happy with "I'm different" part as well. It took a while to get it right, but work out with a change to a Bb chord structure for the bridge into the outro. It's nice to hear your words. I actually feel like I'm moving on to being a composer as opposed to just a musician. I'm getting a feel for scales and chords now and how they interrelate. Thank you for the listen and fave!
i like that use of white noise (i think) going into 0:40 secs in your build-up. from 1:48 on it is great dub stuff. nice work! I felt from about 0:57 to 1:40 I got a bit tired of the repetition of the one motive. nice work!
Thanks Midi! I agree it does get a bit repetitive. When I'm working on the longer version, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for your thoughts, much appreciated. Take care!
I like all the elements a lot. lots of interest and lots of energy! my sense is that you have sacrificed overall presence in the mix for the sake of a strong bass. if you slim down the bass you should end up with a richer mix. nice work!
Thnx for listening and the feedback. You have a good sense sir. I wanted to speak the bass for itself and it does I think. I'm already planning some extra's to it and will post it when I've finished it. It would be great if you then drop by and let me know what you think of it.
Again, thnx for feedback. I like this because I can learn from it.
Take care

i like how I am hearing the guitar riff mixed between the two speakers. everything is nicely balanced. nice, polished mix. I don't see cannibalism. i do see outdoors, the wild, adventure. beautiful work. cinematic I would say.
like the sound and the sounds. your lows are mixed great. and you know how to let go of it sometimes - like a release of sonic tension. nice work. cheers.
thanks man....honestley i look back at this and wonder sometimes...im still proud...i had exactley six months of Grind under my belt when i put this together....All stemed from some stalker girl on FB hating on my girl so we had to put out something SICK ASAP....glad u dig peace
that is so cool that tweak that lowers the voice. "bass in your face" great new color when you bring in chord hits and lovin the harmonies. smart ending! nice work!
a 1:52 I hear a guitar solo picking up from the violin lick. sometimes it takes a while for these tracks to come to fruition. I hope you find the collabs and loops you need. the string sounds are great and well arranged. best wishes - Dan

I always record everything twice and pan them. Gives a nice modulation without and added FX.
"I don't see cannibalism. i do see outdoors, the wild, adventure."
This is the hunting, not the eating. I may do that next track.
Thanks for the listen and the feedback.
