full bodied beat. lots of nice details. You have that ability to keep in the groove and find ways to continuously vary things up to hold interest. really nice work. sounds great.
intense rapping. complex, lots going on. nice minimal choices of a brass sound, some vibes? trap set. held me spellbound. if a gunshot in a track follows naturally from the intensity of emotion, from the true buildup, then a gunshot works. it does here (IMHO). awesome work. - regards - Dan
Brilliant Brado. there is something so ultimately "American" about your cool track. I believe that you really get the message across. It is very thoughtful work. Of course awesome production and sounds great. Congrats!
Well done technically and definitely has the out in space vibe. In case you don't know, my website is all about pairing music and art and I would be honored if you would take on something. Also - if you have a high resolution version of the art you made we can try to sell prints of it through the site. have a look and let me know what you think. Dan https://midisparksartsales.com/art-needs-music/
Haha yeah im on the site remember? XD
and about the art, when i say 'artwork' its not great haha, im somewhat ok in photoshop so i create little scenes and stuff nothing i would feel good about selling.
Thanks for checking out my stuff Dan :)
Nice to hear from you buddy
Very creative take on the original. I begin to recognize your home-made synths! Overall - a darker, more brooding version. As always, sounds are beautifully mixed and thoroughly enjoyed. Regards. Dan
To be honest, I only heard the original once, a couple of weeks before making this. Instead, I took the stems and midi as a constraint, and did what I felt like with them. There are actually no DIY synths present in this composition, but only some tracks recorded from MIDI gear, including Zoom RT-123 and Microkorg. Those are my go to MIDI gear, as I've been using them both for nearly fifteen years straight. I wanted this to be acceptable to all sorts of listeners, so I did not use any noisy modular or circuit bent stuff. On top of that, psychedelics are not something which I'm accustomed to integrating with my DIY gear. "Midnight's Travel" to me in recent weeks has been strictly to visit the crack head next door, in order to ask her to turn off her flood light or to bring her howling dog inside. I'm a day shifter now, so when people keep me awake until 2 AM I get annoyed. I haven't done a remix in a while, but I'm happy that you liked what you heard here! It seemed liked a vacation from the things I normally would do!
"the money and the fame. chicks of many kinds." nice lyric and vocal. also I like the brass sounds and always like the plucked sound. great sounding track.
beautiful sounding guitar. the organ? at 1:40 is unexpected and I liked the dissonance it added. nice the way you build intensity and then take it down again toward the end for one final push. nice job.
A lot of beautiful colors and variety to keep me interested here. Super job with the rap/lyrics and beautiful production overall. I felt the emotion here of the loss, for which i am sorry. Regards - Dan
The flutes are more or less 4 or 5 small samples I downloaded from looperman and then arranged to get that specific melody. But I really didn't even alter them much.
Can't remember the username though.
nice how you vary the instruments, adding and subtracting, offering some new sound for a sec, even as you stick to the basic groove throughout. great work. best of luck on collab. Dan
for me the track has a cinematic quality. there is some action taking place - it could be comedic (hence - "Circus") I agree that track will work well under a rap also. The piano runs against the electronic beat really works. Nice job and best luck with where it goes from here.
there is a lot of power in music both to purge our own frustrations and to effect change in the world. this could very well be an anthem for the true uprising against the waves of violence rocking the world right now. Civilized society understands restraint - but there is power in restraint. I feel restraint as well as power in your driving track. Fav. Dan
Thank you Dan, I couldn't agree more... It probably took you no more than five minutes to listen and comment but what you wrote has given me a perspective that will last a lifetime. This is why I love music (and musicians!). Many thanks :)
nice use of delay on the vocal, and on panning. you have a relaxed, steady delivery in your rapping. as for the lyric - sounds like you are asking for the real collab. am i even close? best regards - Dan
Thanks For The Comment. And Yes I Am Asking For The Real Collaboration, But I've Found Someone To Do It. You'll Be Seeing The Full Song Pretty Soon. Much Love
Well - I suppose if something is awesome might as well blow the horn as you do. And it is awesome. And you are right - you got some pretty impressive Free chops going. I suspect the rapping from 3:44 will benefit from further refinement. The track flows beautifully and lots of interest throughout. Big fav on this. Best of luck with wherever goes from here.
Wow! If you are still looking for mix and master you are a very high level for sure - because it already sounds rich and clean. I love the feeling you have achieved and it is completely ripe for some lyric I think. Best of luck with wherever you go with it from here. Regards - Dan
lol Thanx a milli Dan for the moment taken to listen appreciate and advice.I am still learning in the art of Mixing and Master and having put out that request is solely for the purpose to find guys I can work with on an ongoing basis if you happen to know anyone who would be interested please point me in their direction
Thanx once again
Jeff
Lots of dramatic tension in the beat. Great production. And the words are perfect for it. "I exist to get minds to shift" We are not sure if the mad scientist is for our good or otherwise. There is ambiguity that creates tension also. Great work.
It is a lyric I can relate to as I get older. Am I living my life to the fullest? Can I close my eyes with a smile and peace at the end - knowing I have left some love, something positive behind?
Great foundation for a song. Love the groove. Love how other instruments join the bass as the song goes on. I wish you all the best with a collab on this one. Dan
I understand this is gonna back a rap and I can imagine it being very effective. as a standalone I start to wish for a little change-up. but nice mix for sure. best of luck with more development. Dan
