Hip Hop needs more female MC's and you miss, have flow. I feel like the vocals could be mixed a little better, I'd really love to hear your lyrics shine through more clearly... But I have no idea how to mix vocals really so I can't offer any specific feedback on it, but I hope you keep writing lyrics and recording! This is really great!

Faving this one. Very fun! I love the drums you use especially, and the melody line is has a bounce to it that I just love. This is some really good DnB. Keep it up!

This is the kind of thing I'd love to do some experimental film with... Some sort of really creepy space themed awesomeness with distorted imagery, planets exploding and aliens feasting on each other. Very cool and very unique piece. Great job

"Deep House" was something I had NEVER listened to before looperman, but I've been growing to like it quite a bit. Great synth work, and love the bassline as well. I'd dance to this for sure.

You really do have a great voice, but I feel the recording makes it sound... hollow? I totally can feel the fullness of it, but your mic however you recorded this does NOT do YOU justice. Great piece, but if you could rerecord the vocals to get a cleaner, crisper sound it would be incredible! Once you do that you could even afford to bump the vocals a little higher. You're voice is really what makes this piece, let it shine through!

Great bit of RnB though.

I saw your profile pic and said HOLY S**T THAT'S ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIES! Seriously, I love 6 string samurai, and the music was great too.

Anyway, really digging the track as well. I love how the strings have such a light touch to them. the beat is really fantastic as well and the whole thing is really upbeat! What software are you using? It reminds me of almost of the score to this quirky game I once played called Katamari Damacy, the premise was strange (but fun) but the soundtrack was so good I had to buy it! Great fusion of electronic and ochestral sounds.

wow! good to know there are other people knowing this weird movie - i like the story of how 6 strings samurai was made almost as much as I like the movie itself. thank you for your review - I've been using the simplest Acid Pro 3.0 for 7 years by now.

on And Now by DJSchmeeJ
Man this has a very Fela Kuti + hip hop vibe to it. I love the horns, love the hand drums... but it does cut out... What gives? I'm faving this one, but in return you best load up a fixed version... My ONLY piece of advice would be the highhats... I think instead of a straight 8th note feel, if you gave it a shuffle feel it would totally open up the groove in totally different ways.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ykpwr8K3M4
Here's some Fela if you're not familiar with him.
Listen to the woodblock/highhat and how it has that really shuffled 8th note pattern... That's what I'm talkin about.

Great track either way!

Dude, how could I not hear that...right? This track was composed as a "throw away" without giving it any thought or merrit. Just a track for a department store sale ad kinda thing because of the upbeat perc.. Guess I was wrong and need to rethink this one. Some guys get offended when you tell them the track should do "this"... But I don't, because you HEAR that in my song and it's not actually there. But it's so obvious that your mind "put" it in there. That's how I compose and that's a real musician's way of thinking! Kudos my friend!

Yo Scythe, Always willing to help spice up your drums if you wanna send me a version without I'd be glad to cook up a few loops for ya. Or if you just want some more specific tips on wha tot add where (or what to take away) drums are about the only think I feel confident giving actual advice on...

Yes a 5th and 7th semitone drop is like a pitch thing. I "semitone" is music talk for essentially one note on the keyboard... including black and white keys. So in other words. If you count back 5 keys on the keyboard (without skipping any!) you'd be going back 5 semitones. I still need to get nanostudio... So I'm not sure how pitch adjustment works on it...

Oh and if you're unfamiliar with sidechaining here's a link:
https://www.looperman.com/forum/thread/110316

btw I got an alternative version with a drum variation and the cello parts for time in reverse on the way...

Ok brother, I'm reppin late, apologies. I kind of went into a rough cut with college.
Right so, percussion wise I feel you, It isnt my strong suit lol. You know if you want me to try and work over a beat Ill handle and you can flip that as youd like. Call it BrokenThanx Tracks lol(bad I know haha)

I think I understand the semitonal thing now, it switches up the melody.

Im actually FINALLY going to take Time In Reverse right and proper with that new drum variation. Ill let you know where I take it.
Ima return feed on ya right now bro, thanks for listening.

Wow great piece, really emotionally charged and intense. I feel like I'd see this in an action scene of a great flick. It's already been said, but superb use of the samples. and the beat pulls it all together!

Man another great track! I think you're not getting the listens and reviews you deserve though because you're listing a lot of them as "chill out"
I had this problem before of listing my tracks as "electronic" when I wasn't sure quite where to stick em, but people will really avoid tracks in genres they don't think they want to listen to. I'd DEFINITELY call this a "hip hop" track. The beat, the way it plays out. Not only that but it's a WAY better hip hop track then a lot of the worn out dirty south style crunk that is boring, boring boring IMO.
Another great track sunny! I'm quickly becoming a fan!

How has this received 100 listens and no reviews? Damn, is this all live instruments? The guitar definitely sounds live. If this is how you vibe I like the way you vibe. I gotta hit up some more of your tracks! It's a great instrumental, but I feel like it could use something. I dunno what yet, but I'm favin' this to give it some more listens down the road.

Oh man, THIS is the original? god that guitar just tears me to pieces it's sooo smooth. This is an absolutely amazing piece of work, and I wish I could say more about it, but wow. Great FX and did I mention how that guitar just melts me from the inside out?

Ok, so I NEVER listen to house really, but I make a point of listening to featured tracks and WOAH this was cool. I'd totally get down in a club to this track. Love the crazy synth work, but my favorite part is the sample work. Crazy fun, First House track I've ever considered relistening to just for fun. Fav'd for sure!

on What I think (Second Version) by StephenPotter
Wow, normally not a trance guy, but I'm always trying new things here on the loop... Love the piano work for sure. hmmm I'm trying to give less "pat on the back" type reviews but I'm at a loss! I know nothing of the genre so it's hard for me to give any specific advice. Uhhhh.... Post some of this as loops? Seriously, if you haven't already some of those elements are superb, and you'd be a saint to share the love. (Also I kinda like the sidechaining)

I'll have to check out more of your stuff in the future!
StephenPotter

I'm not sure about posting this track as loops. I think if I want to upload a loop, it will work best if I intentionally try to make it a loop.

Also, I don't think I could fit 32 bars into a loop without making the quality very very low.

Thanks for the review!

Yea great start! Thanks for using my words. I like where it cuts out for a second. I agree they coould come up in the mix a bit, and I was waiting the beat to really "break" into some serious DnB. I hope there's more in store for this one! Definitely message me if you finish this one.

great beat, and great flow man, but I'd bump the vocals just a tad. The beat's solid, but let your flow take the stage!

Ok, first of all, totally awesome track. You said you questioned the breakdown so here's my advice on that. I love where the kinda spacey flute comes in, I guess since it has an electronic feel to it in my head I kinda heard a low pass filter coming in and muddying everthing up right before it breaks back into the A section... Hope that makes sense. And even if you don't use a low pass filter specifically, I think some kinda effect right before you come back to that main groove would really punctuate it nicely. But then again I don't know sh*t so I'm just talkin out my butt. Great track

on Tribal Warrior by TheDreamMerchant
Checkin out more of your tracks and this one really struck me as interesting. Like the marimbas a lot. and there's a part with the strings where it ends on this slightly off pitch... in a good way. I almost feel like it's some dark eerie carnival ride where the power is getting shot off and everything is slowing to a stop... cool mental imagery for sure.
I agree that the kick could use a little more "oomph" overall the drums sound a little like they're being covered by a pillow or something. Pulling in a little more highs from em, or just a light touch of a snappier snare would do wonders. A fill or two wouldn't hurt either.

Overall great track though, I hope you don't take my criticism as "this sucks" or "you suck" you've got a very good ear and that's clear to see.

on I Miss You by TheDreamMerchant
Yo solid beaet and track, but the vocals need some work... not so much the flow but the mastering. It sounds like it's popping, like he's too close to the mic or something. Honestly, I'm still learning the ropes of mastering myself, so I can't tell you HOW to fix it, I'm pretty sure it can be fixed fairly easily though, and with some searcing I think you'd find some helpful threads here on looperman about mixing vocals. Other than that this is tight as hell. Love the piano work. Keep puttin em out!

DAMN this is sick, I love big band, and this is a tight take on some classic sounds. Maybe it's just cuz I played jazz bass for a couple years, but I was waiting for a sick crazy walking double bass to kick in and start running some scales. I guess as you say it's not done, but if I had one suggestion it would be to add one of those. Then again, my headphones only go down so far so maybe I'm missing it?
