Man what's not to like? Your voice is great, cool composition and I was digging your guitar work. Used to listen to a lot of cap beef heart and I reckon I do see where you're coming from there thinking about his kind of jerky compositions, not sure if jerky is the right word but maybe u get what I mean. Like skipping from one part to another.

Love the sound of gamelan. Played in a group once years ago when I was at university. This sounds really sweet.

Very nice work mate, I'd say your music is a perfect complement to the vocal track.

Awesome work indeed, man u never fail to surprise and delight. This almost sounds a bit like HDU in one of their rare quieter moments like on lull. Love the textures, would never have thought of a sax in something like this but it fits. Will be downloading when my computer is next on!

i'd say all of the above and then some in terms of genres, but I reckon that's par for the course where you're concerned. this is a real fun track mate and funky to boot. loved the vocal samples coming in and out.

Hello zootman2u,

You're the second person to mention the sample singers that I use on most of my tracks. I feel like they give a kinda accent to the rhythm. I'm glad you liked them. Thank you for your listen and comments.

PEACE...

Tried to reply to your comment on my bell jar blues track but LM threw some sort of fit. Thanks mate, I'm just glad you got it! But actually the short (less than 1min) track pseudoble gave me already had a cool mix of blues and country/blue grass (?), I just gave it a twist. And to be honest, to me it's a pale imitation, and clearly derivative, of stuff Beck was doing back in the day. Try his Mellow Gold album for some true genre bending sounds. That's a true classic album for me. Anyway, i'm looking forward to hearing more tunes from you mate!

Lol oh well comment still stands it's a great track. Curious now what the bass vst is? I just use ample sound I think it's called cause it's free and sounds ok I think.

haha nice, love the lyric - six points of view pointed at you, can't argue with that. cracker of a song, yay another humps fix!
theHumps
theHumps replied 5th Aug 2021 - 4 years ago
I watched D Boon from the Minutemen in a live clip say the line "6 points of view" describing a gun and suddenly a light bulb went off over my head. Figured I could run with that as a premise to a song.

Thanks, glad you liked it, fun one!

This is class, you got me from the get go with those congas, man I love those things and you actually play them! The treatment on the vox was cool, great bass Great energy. What a boogie down track!
Micky
Micky replied 4th Aug 2021 - 4 years ago
Hey zootman,

honesty demands to say that those congas are actually loops and that bass is played by me, but it's a midi instrument, not a real bass.

Thank you so much for listening – glad you enjoyed it!

on Cavern by the sea by Burtsbluesboxes
loving these mate, they're like some soundtrack to a delta murder mystery or something. i'm sure i can hear the great greasy Mississippi flowing on by like some great artery, even though i've never been to the states!
Burtsbluesboxes
Burtsbluesboxes replied 2nd Aug 2021 - 4 years ago
OOhh perfect finding dark themes even the happier stuff I do on occasion ;) I love how music can transport you anywhere and put you in a whole new state of mind. I've spent my whole life in the northeasten part of the states, never been to the Mississippi delta but these guitars sure have a way of transporting us there. I'll try and get more up to date stuff put up. I've been away from here for a while and not nearly as active as I was in the past. I do a ton on facebook groups related to the worldwide homemade instrument movement. I love how it's like the home recording revolution. Tonight I've been sitting here playing on a guitar made from a license plate a friend made me in a guitar swap.
Where I'm not a singer I got into using soundscapes created from sounds found around the web along with my own recordings to add that extra dimension, and do something a bit different than the usual.

on Sorrow and Chorum Corvas Corax by Burtsbluesboxes
i need those frets i think!! hdu are frequently quite loud and full on but they do some good atmostpheric stuff. a song called 'lull' off their higher album is a good example of their more ambient stuff. all the best to you
Burtsbluesboxes
Burtsbluesboxes replied 1st Aug 2021 - 4 years ago
LOL!! Fretless slide is definitely a different style. I like 3 string tuned open g GDG. I have a 4 string fretted tuned EADG like a regular guitar. There's one stringers, 2 stringers, 3, 4 5, and your traditional 6. Lap steels are pretty big thing too. People will make them out of a 2x4 or old violin case. If you get a chance look up Fat Knuckle Freddy. He's like the Jimi Hendrix of the primitive fretless guitars. He calls his style Graveyard Blues. Very Punk like, loud and full of energy. Very cool guy if you get to ever meet him too. I was set up selling guitars at a show he played 2 weeks ago, his dinner set was quite mellow, laid back playing, sitting in a chair. When he took the stage for the night set it was wild. Shocked some of the people :D

Love the intro, guitars sounds awesome. Homemade far out, you're obviously a craftsman and we need more of those! I'll tell u this reminds me a little of a nz band called hdu who use similar layered guitar textures. But this is unique and I really enjoyed it.
Burtsbluesboxes
Burtsbluesboxes replied 1st Aug 2021 - 4 years ago
We sure do!! I'll look up hdu, I love dark atmosheric music. We need more fretless music, who needs those stinking frets any way LOL!

on The Revenant Song by xstokes
damn i really dig where you're coming from with your music, seems to be from outer space cos there's not much I can think of as a reference point. love the random, freeform and experimental nature of this. also good to see i'm not the only one who's like a kid in a candy shop with mucking around with reversed guitars. keep going my friend, only explorers really get lost.
xstokes
xstokes replied 2nd Aug 2021 - 4 years ago
ha, there’s somethin about reverses, it’s like breathing. outer space certainly factors in, too. and the flouride in the water [cue General Ripper]. cheers, Chris!
