Privyet Aleksandr, you always manage to educate me. That title is as usual a very interesting reference and a glimps into an unknown world.
And a lovely song. You're getting better and better with every track it seems!
I liked that, but I didn't quite get the first 10 seconds, or the very short break at 2:44.
Not sure if those were intentional but the rest was very enjoyable!
Regarding:
===========
the lyrics felt banal and insincere -- there's nobody in my life like that right now, and usually I only write and sing tracks like that when there is
===========
We are artists. Did Madonna really feel like a virgin? Did Paul Simon really have diamonds on the soles of his feet? Did Freddy Mercury really kill a man?Maybe, maybe not, but they are emotions we recognise. We write and sing stuff others can relate to.
Did I really sing "you give me hope" for someone? Do you care?
I think you don't, as long as you recognise it and it touches you.
All this rant is just to say: don't worry too much about being banal/insincere. It's in our singing that we make it come true for the listener, and that's all that counts :)
Not sure if you are 3 years old or the track ;) ;) but in either case it's a good track!
(But I'd be slightly more impressed if you are 3 years old)
Good work man!
Ooohhh I really like this one. Great piano loop, and the drums are also really good!! Not sure what is sample and what you played yourself but congrats on a great track. Faved!
Ahh, my dear Louis Hello.
HAHA, the cello is from a loop pack but the rest are all VST.
This genre is my passion. many moons ago when I was nine years old I started to make super 8 movies and make wired and wonderful soundtracks for them until life got in the way.
I'm glad you like Lou.
Thanks for the visit and fave Buddy.

It's nice! It's a good basic melody and you introduce some more interesting elements in the middle part to keep the listener hooked. I wouldn't mind some kind of countermelody or chorus or break, but I think you don't need that.
Regarding that and your YouTube vids? I always publish the vid way at the end of the process, after it's been up on looperman for at least a couple weeks, because I learn so much here and it frustrates me that YouTube doesn't allow you to change the audio (or anything, really). You never suffer from that? :)
Hello, Louis Haha.
Thanks for the pointer mate.
I thought that, but it was a little too late.
Mate, after almost nine years on looperman I am getting very disheartened with looperman.
It use to be a very good community like you and me and some other good folks, but it seems too few people uploading and visiting this site nowadays.
it use to be up to seven or more pages of tracks and it had so many viewers before now it's going to the dogs.
Yes, Youtube has its limitations.
There is, however. little adjustment you can do with the audio.
Thank you very much for visiting buddy.
Maj
Thank you! I was surprised it turned out so well because the lyrics felt banal and insincere -- there's nobody in my life like that right now, and usually I only write and sing tracks like that when there is -- but with a Rasputin loop I knew the end result song would be good. For some reason I and he are very compatible as co-producers; his style matches mine and vice versa.
I love the African guitar in the background.
The groove is very tight, but it still allows you your melodic freedom to experiment. Good job! Great guitar tones too!
Hi there, thanks for the constructive criticism, I have to agree, the vocals do not gel with the track as a whole. I listened to your track, a masterpiece!!
In my defense, I am old (53), hahah, and lack any formal / informal musical training. Everything is done by ear.
Love the Holy shit, Thanks for the nice comments I greatly appreciate it. Vox to me sound good ( Upfront ). i will listen to it again as per your comments.
Most of this works pretty well, but the one finger piano melody is way too overpowered to my ears. See if you can consider to lower the volume on that? Good luck buddy!
Oh yeah!! Love the intro riff.
I'm not as critical of the drums of Danke, but he has an actual drummer in the band and I'm just an amateur ;) but yes, in a song like this they could definitely be heavier.
All in all great job, totally enjoyed it!
I try to do as much as I can without plugins (my laptop isn't powerful enough), but:
- izotope for mastering
- sometimes graylon for a spot of autotune
- I recently discovered Spitfire which has fairly convincing strings.
Hope that helps!
The same here, my laptop isn't powerful but what i do it's convert to audio my Midi. And as i use Fl studio there's a way where you can sample some plugins to Direct Wav.
I have the izotope standard edition but i don't use it often.
Spitfire is very good. You should try Decent Sample it's a free plugin there are a lot of good free libraries for it and it's not cpu heavy.
It's definitely fun, and you worked in an interesting way with the 5/4th, in some parts more or less working around it, sometimes high-lighting it. I like the somewhat medieval sound you achieved in parts.
Regarding the one-synth challenge, I'd not heard about that before but I suppose you use only... One... Synth? :D
I think you made full use of it, but if you let go of it, I think you can make it more interesting. I'd definitely welcome a bit of that guitar, either some power chords towards the end or a good solo!
Hi Baobou. Thanks for dropping by with some nice feedback and engaged comment. Yes, one synth, he he. ;-D To be honest, none of the voices but the effects would have survived if it was not for the contest. Though this FM synth has potentials for physical modeling, it is pretty bad compared to the rest of our modeling gear. If you heard the string section, viola and choirs in isolation, you would notice how artifical they sound. A remake would imply replacement of both strings and flutes. The bells wouldn’t be octaved but layered with Peter’s guitar as front instead. Thanks again for the visit, mate.
Well,I always approve guitar solos, so that's great :)
But I'm also a strong believer in finding a balance between having unfinished stuff, and never finishing stuff, if you get what I mean. Better is the enemy of good :)
Jenna has a great voice, I've also used one of her Acapellas in the past and ever since I'm a fan.
I really like what you did here, by slowing it down you really made it fit the tone of your electro tune.
Great retro vibe on it and strong mix where each element has a clear place.
Good stuff!
Thx for your feedback...yes...she is a real talent. Im not happy with the mix. Maybe i'll redo the mix and add space for a guitar solo. The song has real potential...I should put more work into it. Would you agree?

I love Patricia's voice, and I wouldn't have imagined that on a blues scheme, but it definitely works.
I would consider to make her vocal pop a bit more btw, because she's now a bit hidden behind your awesome guitars. Good stuff man!
