As a tip, you can probably increase the master level on your track quite a bit, and then possibly gain some loudness with a bit of compression. Not so important musically, but it may help you to get it across.

- I write the track in a couple days and make a draft which I post on Looperman
- I spend a couple more days fixed stuff
- then after max 1 week (usually as soon as I have a new idea) I desert the track.
Or actually I don't desert it, I make a video and schedule it to go live a couple weeks/months later on YouTube.
- now a couple days before it goes live on YouTube, I take a fresh look at it and fix stuff I hadn't heard before
- then last November I took some recent tracks, again did some fixes and published them as an EP; I plan to do something similar this summer but with an album of say 10-12 tracks.
So there's several cycles of "ok I'm done" and "let's have another look" keeping it fresh. See if that's something that might work for you (some similar cycle adjusted to your way of working)?

The rest of the track is really smooth and lovely, and I could imagine youight want a bit more edge to it, but it's not really working for me - without being able to tell you what I'd expect. Maybe something a bit slower and melodic?

Second, and I hope you don't mind me saying this, I think you have 2 lovely tracks here.
That drum rhythm is amazing, and that music is amazing, but I think the music would feel stronger with a rhythm in half time, and similarly, I think that rhythm can lead to a different track.
You may not agree - and I have to say I also enjoyed it as is, but it was my feeling from the moment the beat came in. The intro was so amazing it could easily stand on its own.
Think about it!

Really good instrumentation! If you want anything to work on, I think it would be the ending, which now leaves her hanging a bit. See if you agree, I think this would be stronger if you end on a chord on the root note, so it feels like closure.

Your funk is appreciated, but not all parts seem to cooperate. The guitar and the drums are great (there could be a bit more variation in the guitar), but the bass (I think) is creating confusion.
This is something I do myself quite often; I love playing bass and when I do I often go on a rampage and do way too much, which distracts from the overall vibe. The bass, unfortunately, needs to serve the band, just like politicians should serve the people ;)
I think the same with the bass and as an actual bass player playing all parts LOL. I think I've become the guitar player who never plays in time who tells me he can't hear me (his 4000w cab on max).
Do you mean the bass with the legato slide, or the clav (stevie wonder one - mid-bass which provides the off-beat bass pass ). I think the latter.
