I like it, although the intro is pretty long for my taste. That's something that can be shorter maybe?
Great use of the vocals although I don't like the autotune. That could be in the stock vocal, else I would simply remove it?
Finally I didn't know Moses was called Bob, but he seems to have a nice side job besides splitting the red sea. Great danceable track man!
Thanks for the feedback BouBou. Good point on the intro. I've re-worked the intro over and over again. At this point, I actually don't remember if it is longer or shorter than I originally had it. :)
I think your comment on the intro is a good one, though. Not that I ever expect any of my tracks to get played outside of Looperan, but I do know that listeners want to get right into the track quickly, so long-winded intros are not favoured. I guess I forgot that.
You are right about the autotune being in the original vocal loops. Can't do anything to remove that effect, as far as I know. I did spent quite a bit of time searching the web for vocal Loops from R&B singers who had similar voices and styles, but didn't find anything that I could work with. It's interesting that almost all of what's available now is from high-pitched tenors with pretty much no "rasp" in their vocal delivery.
Will do. I've streamed on Twitch, and facebook on occasion. I don't do it often, usually when I'm starting from complete scratch so non musicians can see the process. Or I stream when I'm finalizing everything.
Yeah understand 100%. I always try to focus on getting the music right before focusing on recording; I generally record guitar/bass through DI and piano through midi (I can't fit a proper Steinway in my tiny apt ;) ) and for drums I do have access to an accoustic set, but for practical reasons I start with some basic midi stuff. It's just easier.
Good stuff man, keep creating!
Very nice, love the combination of your voices. In the beginning I needed a bit to get into it, but then it grabbed me and I enjoyed listening to the whole track!
Love what you did around 1:56, also the guitar solo from around 2:26 is great. I love how you took 2 fairly separate genres and combined them.
I didn't fully understand it (I couldn't really tell when you would be going from techno to guitars and back) but I guess that doesn't matter, and I certainly had fun listening. Kudos, more of this!
Very good! Are the drums an electronic set or midi? To me you use the crash a lot and I'd consider to do a bit less of that or possibly use the ride, which gives a bit more pleasant sound.
Good stuff on the guitars. What kind of distortion are you using?
And always good to find someone who also believes in playing live instruments :)
Yeah the drums make this track. Well done.
So is it all live or currently in midi but you might record it live? I agree with the sentiment btw, I try to do everything live, but having midi piano/strings/drums just is a lot more practical at times, and I wouldn't be able to fit an entire orchestra in my living room anyway ;)
Yes. The majority of the drums are programmed and looped. And then every single other part I would record it live (Through midi), then go to the next layer and next layer. So not "live" per se, but you're a musician too, you understand what I mean haha.
Not sure what to do? Publish and move on to the next track :) there's a million more tracks to be written.
But I can give some suggestions:
- less autotune in the sung vocals, I think that would bring it to life more. It's a good track btw, I just don't think you need audible autotune
- One other thing you could consider is to give the chorus a slightly different instrumentation than the verse.
- Finally you could try with dynamics and instruments to create a bit more of an arc, where the listener gets drawn in more towards the end, and where you also make the outro a bit different so we know it's about to end.
In any case, that's all details, and I would say: press publish, now start on the next track and take your lessons with you :)
Good luck!
Hey BB - thanks for listening to this old one (with the bit of a rework on the spoken word) and for the warm comment. Sorry for the slow reply - This Easter was very full!
Love it, but I can also think of a couple improvement points you could consider.
The part from around 1:00 has a great vibe, and I think you can lead into that beat a little earlier. Then when you get there, you can bring a bit more variety. The vocals from 3:49(ish) are amazing and give it an ethereal vibe.
Good stuff, I was never bored!
His vocal is getting a bit better every time, and I really like the song you wrote, it's very compelling, good structure too.
Great stuff man. Are you guys planning any live gigs? Any open mic nights where you live or bars where you could play 20 min?
Thanks dude , Diego has projects for live performance and other but my job is only to make drafts for him, i'm in France for work and i'havent much time to work with him , but i like his voice hispano and i think he has talent !
Thanks my friend for your listening !

Add some vocals :)
If you're similar to me you're probably thinking "I can't sing" but the thing is, you can learn to sing. Just try, practice and get better :)
Good luck!!
Thanks Mr BB. I added the delay to the mix just recently, wasn't sure it was a good move. I wanted it subtle so hopefully it sounds that way. cheers Chris
Very nice! I think you can probably cut off the beeps at the start?
You have some very nice chord progressions; but there's a couple spots where not all the notes work or not all the instruments play the same chord. Still, lovely track!
And... sing yourself :) It's the best way to get a vocalist ;)
To be honest I have to agree with CCC. The vocal is great, and I hear some ideas in the keys/piano, but try to figure out the key and chord progression of the vocals and really accompany that. That way you can make sure they fit each other rather than feeling like 2 separate recordings.
Good luck!

Strong track, good beat. The chord progression could use a little more variety, but all in all I like it!
