I can always expect to find something amazing when I visit your page, and I must say you've done it again! The percussion is sweet, especially those toms (or tuned kicks maybe?), and that metallic sounding sample. Very focused sound to the mix! Cool old school sounding bass/drum combination. Groovy man groovy! Faved!

Stopping by to say high. This mix has definitely taken me places, and been the great soundtrack to regret. This is techno how I remember it from youth. Honestly can't say I remember 3 tracks, just two, but either way they flowed like mad! Love the acid style, and I totally agree with that 3xOsc is an amazing tool! Love the sampled waveform option. Uplifting and interesting, just as tech should be. Love it! Fave. BTW if you ever need some analog waveforms to feed 3xOsc, get in touch.

FreeRadical replied 3rd Aug 2014 - 11 years ago
Analouge wave forms for the 3OSC? Now that sounds like an offer i can't turn down. I'll certainly be in touch about that, I love the 3OSC and it never ceases to amaze me just how many different vibes you can create with it.
Glad you enjoyed the track, I used quite a few loops in it including one from tidy tracks and zenhizer trance hooks to name a couple. I just can't ever seem to get the beats kicking like the pro's do so i have to resort to loops.
Cheers for stopping by as always, your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hello there! A very enjoyable track to my ears! Definitely reminiscent of some vintage stuff. Not my usual listening preference any more, but it hasn't been that long so I remember. Really dig the sound around 2:55! Gets pretty groovy after that too, sweet percussion! You were asking about the mix/master, and I don't hear anything glaringly obvious that is wrong with it. Definitely not hearing clipping, and by the look of the waveform, you might even have a touch of headroom in there. Yes, very cool track! Thank you for telling me about it! Fave!

Thx Spiv. Always appreciate your input, even when requested, LOL

The waveform seemed to sort itself out after awhile. This looks more like my usual lo-fi production :)

Thought I'd take a listen after your forum post. I am enjoying the song for sure. Can honestly say that my vocals probably wouldn't hit the spot on this song though. Not my usual listening preference lately, but I can totally hear the talent that went into it. I get the feeling that it's a little lacking in low frequencies, at least to my preferences. Funky stuff though, I'm glad that I listened!

This is pretty hyperactive man! Loving the stereo field very much, has kind of a early 90s mostly analog vibe to it. Jammin guitar stuff too! Cool sub sort of bass, especially in the break in the middle. Love when techno and metal get fused usually, and this is a good one! Nicely done!

I'm glad you homed in on this one for two reasons. Firstly, because this is one of my favourite tracks that i've written (even though the quality of the mix isn't the best)
Secondly it highlighted the fact that i had two outstanding reviews from a year ago. I hate not replying to people and i can't understand how i miss so many but there you go, lifes a bitch.
Cheers for reminding me that this track exists because i'm now going to play it and bang my head.

Pretty cool take on the dubstep thing! The vocals give a nice mellow vibe which contrasts well with the heavier elements,. Sound quality and mix is very good as well! I like how the synth sort of answers the bass, that's always fun to hear! Definitely an enjoyable song to listen to! Thanks for sharing!

Man this is deep and harcor! I love the depth of it! Reminds me of one of my earlier songs "fuck you". I am in love with offensive music, so I dig it. You've got a great delivery, and the recording is well done, so I can't complain. Made me groove, do you've done the deed. Potent track! Fav'd!

Man i tried to found that track. It definitely has the same emotion. Thanks for your input. I feel like the vocals need more work though. I want to re record the vocals though but thanks. Sorry I got back to your so late.

Hey, this is pretty cool! Can't say this is how I remember the 90s, but by the end of those I was a bit out of touch. Do remember hearing a song like this before though... don't know when or where. This was a fun listen! People were mentioning melodies and stuff, I can see where they are coming from. What came to mind for me was a simple sort of slow synth string bed which sort of evolves. Thank you for the credit! Hope you are well!

Looking at the waveform of this track, I'm thoroughly surprised at how punchy and powerful this mix/master is! Definitely a combination of styles, which is something I always appreciate! I hear a hint of Vinter In Hollywood/Savant, but there's some older influences in there that I hear. Very cool sound design! I guess the chord progression is a bit common, but you've done it in a creative fashion, so who am I to judge? Dig the groove and the sound quality! Thanks for sharing! Fave!

That was a very pleasant listen! The composition is beautifully done, and the guitar and bass parts are very enjoyable to hear! Very dynamic and expressive mix and master! I think most people are used to very loud mastering, but I don't know if it would suit a song like this. You've achieved a good balance. Very chill for sure! Nice work!

Man, first I have to say, it feels like way too long since I've heard one of your tracks! In the mood for earlier music, so I looked for something not new that I hadn't commented yet. Glad I did, because this is just amazing! Jammin, and full bodied like a stout. It's like it's telling me to be a better person, which is one of the best things music can do. You've got the bouncy vibe totally down, and this sounds great in headphones! Nice to see you around! Hope you are well!

Man i miss my music too.!

Not in a big headed way,but i dont really know how i make music.!

If i get time i just sort of pull up my magix program and just start to lay down stuff depending on mood.!

So most people can tell if im happy as i do uplifting music like this.!

The last track i did tells a whole different story.!

I can only do what i do when my body wants to,and when im on my pc,but of late both have not been too good.!

Thank you for keeping my music in the radar even if for the bst part it's just a form of therapy,I dont take it serious as it's just a hobbie i can do every now n then.!

thanks for your kind comments.!

Sweet jammin tune! Definitely a cool style. The guitar sampling is well done for sure! I liked how ALXSIX said it "all FLAWS so well," sounds like a slip to me...heh. The vocals are cool, and keep the tune moving! Fun to hear some older stuff for a change. There's nothing wrong with changing how you do things. Totally a fave!

You'd think that I'd instantly get into this, but the combination of elements is hard for me to enjoy. I think you've done well on the mix, that's for sure. The guitar parts are very nice too. I would like to hear more variation in the drums especially. The vocals starting around 4 mins sound pretty good, and they seem to fit the rest of the song better than the opera/choir type stuff early on. Definitely a little bit depeche mode there. So, yeah, I guess the main thing is that it seems like the same drum beat throughout, after the snare roll anyway. I like the idea very much, but it could be taken deeper with good results. Thanks for sharing!

Thought I'd visit some of your older work, and I'm glad that I did! This has some really cool stuff going on! I love the atmosphere part around 1:50 or so. Could definitely see some high as hell dancing to this beat! Very nice sampling work! I'm listening on headphones at the moment, but yes I can hear that this could use a touch more low end power. Sounds good as is though too. Not the usual house that's for sure. Dig it! Fav'd!

Yeah, i swear i was making better tunes back around the time i made this. I stopped smoking green because i flipped out and it seems to have stunted my creativity a bit (hence why i'm using so many loops at the moment) I keep telling myself i'm going to ditch the loops and try and get back to composing from scratch but alas, it aint happening.
Anyway, i'm glad you felt obliged to come and check out one of these old tracks that have been sitting around gathering dust.

I don't know if it's just my mind set when I pressed play, but this first track in the set made me think of the lyrics "A-Buzz A-Buzz A-Buzzing like them killer bees" --- bonus fave if you know what song that's from... heh... Fck pop music when you're making stuff like this! I think I'm on the second track now, but don't take my word for it. I like this one too, it has kind of a minimal vibe, but is a little deeper than that. Sweet drop around 5:45 or so! This sounds really good for a long mp3 so way to go! Ooo another track, are these all at the same tempo/key or did you just do really well combining them? Great bouncy feel to this section! You're getting better at these mini-mixes for sure! I like the sampled voices you used. Okay I'm feeling good now, going to go break some toys. Thanks for the cool listen!
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 13th Jul 2014 - 11 years ago
The only thing i can think of with reference to killer bee's is Anthrax's album "attack of the killer bees" but i doubt you're going on about that?
Yeah, i'm going to "try" and just go back to writing single tracks again as these minimixes seem to cause confusion (f*** knows why. I would have thought it was fairly obvious it's not supposed to be one track but there you go)
I don't think they're all in the same key but the tempo remains constant throughout. I didn't actually write a lot of it, it's just a mash up of various loops really with a few synths.
Anyway, cheers for dropping in and leaving your thoughts as always.

Holly crap, it's cool to have you back around! This song is killer! One for the cyborg dance clubs, time to plug in! You always were fantastic at sound design, and it shows in this track! Sweet vocoder stylings on this, they have a good tone. Quite a modern style it seems, but you can still hear some vintage influences, which is good. Jammin tune! Fav'd!

It's cool to hear you breaking into some different genres lately! I dig this one, it's nice and bouncy with some quality sounds used. The vocals work really well with the beat. Definitely a sweet bass line! All the designers listed in the lyrics remind me of working at Lenscrafters. We sold most of those names there, and I even ended up with some free designer sunglasses out of the deal. Very cool track! Faved!

Cool stuff you've got here! The first thing I noticed was the potent mastering, the sound is really pouring out of my speakers! It takes some effort to create a track like this, fine work! Reminds me a bit of Aphex Twin, but this is a little more filled out than his stuff. This flows really well! Did you play the guitar, just curious? Great track! Faved!

Oh yeah, majorly groovy jam you did here! Love the tone and vibes throughout! You've really shown how versatile you are. The only late night bar scenes I've been a part of were rock and stuff like that, so I can't really judge the atmosphere, but it sounds pretty live to me. Reading about breaking your picking nail was entertaining, I too am not a fan of picks, especially on acoustic guitar and bass. Read something way back giving advice to cut your left hand nails short and leave your right hand nails a little longer... obviously for a right handed person... heh... I've been doing that pretty much constantly since then even when I let my guitars collect dust for years at a time. Any way, jammin tune, Love it! Fave!

Thnx for listening and the feedback. I'm glad you mentioned the plucky bass because it was the purpose to let it drive the groove in a very simple way. Simple can be very effected at times. This is a groove that can continue for awhile without getting bored because of that bass...well...in my humble opinion that is...

Oh yeah, I love the electronic percussion in this! Drum machines are so fun, especially since they all pretty much have their own sound. I'm curious, which machine did you use for this? I can hear what crucethus was speaking of regarding the undefined bass line, but at the same time this isn't the heavy bass sort of track I suppose. Could try cutting the inaudible sub frequencies from the bass, and maybe boosting a frequency centered around the fundamental or something. I like to do a cut around the mids (like 600 Hz or so) even if I'm not boosting the lower stuff. Seems to allow a volume boost on the bass while leaving room for other parts of the mix. Just trying to help, so don't worry. I do love the song! It's pleasant and makes me happy! Fine work! Fav'd!

Nice groovy track you've done here! Great bass and rhythm! Those vocals are something special and they fit right in on a beat like this. It's a little bit jazzy too, not just strictly reggae, which I like. I would love to hear this mastered just a bit louder and maybe with a little more high end presence. I was starting to think that I was hearing high frequencies to strongly today, so taking that into account I'm thinking this could use some sparkle. Not meant to criticize, just putting it out there. I love the song though! Definitely chilled me out! Fav'd!

Hey this sounds pretty sweet! I agree with StaticNomad that that pitch bendy sound is very cello like, and having grown up playing cello, that is nice thing to hear!
