Definitely a cool groove in this track, and that's always a good thing! Definitely sounds sort of authentic, if that makes sense. I wasn't expecting much because the waveform is so quiet, but when turned up (like my speakers already were) it sounds very cool. Trippy sounds! Fun to hear! Fave!

on Caught On Camera - Ft Mrshammi - Remix by boycottProductions
Ah yes, Shammi rules! Haven't heard anything of his in a bit, so this is refreshing! Since you're trying out mastering FX, I'll say that I like the mastered sound very much on this. It sounds smooth, and dynamic enough... I like it when I can choose the volume with my setup, and that's true of this song. Definitely has a nice bass line and feel! Good dancehall is the shiz, and this qualifies! Fave!

Hey I dig it! I don't know if it's just me, or if the bass is moving the floor! It's a bit hard for me to follow the depth of the lecture at this moment for the obvious reasons, but I can definitely groove with it! Seems like acid jazz in a way to me, which is cool when it's done well, as heard here. Deeply cool mix, with a fairly powerful mastered sound. ooo everything's changed... love it. Great jam at the end! The musical part gives me flashbacks to The The a little, or Matt Johnson, which can't be bad. Quality tune! Fave!

Wow
All very positive stuff!
Thanks. ..you're very kind
Definitely one of my busier mixes...the hope was the listener could discover new elements even after 3 and 4 listens.
It's not everyone's cup of tea but I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks for the listen and the fav

on Temptation featuring Minette by FreeRadical
Yes, dark and a little gothic! I'm glad I listened, as I don't always jump for cinematic tracks. But this is potent! Gives me memories of Kate Bush when she was courting electronic and industrial styles, and that can't be bad. Okay I'm feeling it now... Think I'll fave this one. Thanks for the cool listen!

on Lost-by sHai Dawn - Cognac Remix by CognacXE
This is some quality stuff right here! I really like these melodic creative vocals! The guitar parts are played well and processed with style. Can't say I've heard many songs with this kind of style, and I hope to hear more! I'm not one to go out of my way to listen to pop music, but I'm glad I did this time! (Your mention of indie and trip hop convinced me) Mixing is spot on, and the master is mild like a pop song should be. Well done!

CognacXE replied 21st Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
Thank you my friend. I really can appreciate you paying close attention to the processing that I put into the vocals & guitars. I also agree that when I put everything together there was a certain chemistry between the track & her voice. I generally let folks decide what genre it is. I'm also generally weary of the "Pop" label as well but it fits in somewhat. Thanks for the complements on my mixing as well. It's communities like this that actually help me grow my craft. Thanks again Spivkurl!!

This is quite cool! I like the straightforward nature of the sounds you used, I'm not 100% sure I know what I mean by that, but it's what came to mind. I love that melody sort of thing that sound like a guitar or something! Nice lo fi percussion, it's good to hear sounds like that still used. Seems like a good intermission to take things down a notch in an album setting or something. Anyway, really good work!

You were right on the money with your evaluation... This is gonna be the second song on my upcoming release and it is just that...a transitional piece but the more i listen to it the more i realize it can stand well on its own merits outside the context of the album. The melody this is a funky acoustic guitar loop by Mooz...Kudos to him.
Thank you for you kind words

Fine start to a song here. Sounds pretty professional so far! Could easily hear a drop into a pretty heavy main track after this introduction. I will watch out for it!

Very cool rhythmic structure you've built here, Sounds a bit tribal to me. I dig the vocal part, it's very mysterious. It would really take some creative EQ'ing or something to wedge in a bass line here, but could be really cool. Anyway, I enjoyed listening very much! Fave!

on Storm Trooper by Diskonnect
Oh yes! This is my favorite kind of beat! Dynamic and groovy! It's not often that one hears techno with this much melodic value, so way to go! The mildly dubstep sounding bass is a nice touch too, I like to hear people taking inspiration from lots of directions. I respect when someone can make entertaining songs with Live, as the songs I've made with it were pretty much my weakest ever. Great sounding use of reverb, and I know that's not always easy to tune. Good first song of the morning! Fave!

on Run to You -Piano Ver- by GoldenOokami
Nicely played my friend! I'm enjoying listening very much! Having just recently gotten a piano, it's been interesting to hear inspiring pieces with piano in them. Nice calming song for this dark rainy morning. Chill out is the perfect genre for this, and it's exactly what I need today. Keep doing what you're doing, because you've got much talent at your disposal! Fave!

GoldenOokami replied 20th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
I really enjoyed this track I made. If I could make a genre for it, it'd be called "Piano-pella." Acapella for piano only. It's just so soothing. I am glad you enjoyed this! I will keep pushing myself for better, man!

Ah yes, classic techno! I'm really impressed with what you do, especially considering it doesn't sound like you have a lot to work with. I've been there, and you should treasure this time. The things you learn now will be with you forever. This is super catchy and fun to listen to! I'm very fond of the ending with the sort of chiptune sounding lead, sounds great! Hardcore and friendly all at the same time! Fave!

This is cool! I like the arrangement very much. The part around 1:45 is quite nice, you thinned it out, but it's still potent. Personally I would like to hear a little stronger bass part, that's just my preference though, so ignore me! Would be sweet with some good vocals! Anyway, I really enjoyed listening! Keep at it!

on what Are you doing by M8TN
Holy hell this is cool! The vocal samples are just sweet! I love the swirling vibe of the mix, just twists my mind in a good way. Ambient has seemed so far removed from this sort of thing for so long, and I grew to really dislike it. You keep renewing the genre, and I'll keep listening! I find myself curious which loop you used of mine. Thanks for the credit! Fave!

Its Vocal Synthesis_Electro Melodic Pattern_130 BPM_F# minor, but 2 octaves down and cut. Its the 'quack' in reply to 'Hi' and also the long oooo in the background around 0:55.
I really appreciate your comment, thank you

on Have You Seen My Girl by Mykael
I was looking through your track, and definitely gravitated toward the jazz style. This is a really pleasing tune to hear, and you really do have so much vocal potential! Jazz is really a big part of my roots, though it takes a lot for me to listen to vocal jazz. I enjoyed this thoroughly though! I guess my only recommendation is to center the vocal recording. I understand if that's not what you were going for as well. I was trained to make mixes that translate to mono equipment, and panned vocals are often a culprit in this not working out. Anyway, it sounds excellent! Keep it up! Fave!

Thanks so much for your comments and direction! I am very grateful you took the time to leave your thoughts with me. I was actually just beginning to explore DAWs when I uploaded the track. I wouldn't call myself a seasoned pro just yet, but I have learned a lot since. At some point, I will revisit this track and make the necessary adjustments to my vocal. I might even badger my collaborators to turn this into a proper tune!

Had to take a listen, especially after your last minute sweep in the "best unique song" thingy. Some really creative intervals used between the instruments here, and I respect that. Not easy to achieve. This one also has a nice open feel to the rhythms, seems just right. Great ending too, you brought us down smooth. Nice one! Fave!

on Juancho Libre - M RT N remix by M8TN
On second listen now, and I must say that this is pretty unique! I think StaticNomad said it right when he referred to this as "party music." I could imagine listening to like a 15 minute mix of this track when I'm quite drunk, or back when I was E-zilly amused, if you know what I mean. Has a technological edge that I really dig! Seems like you changed the genre from dirty to electro, and I guess that seems like a good place for this to land. Was fun to hear, you should totally make an extended mix!

M8TN replied 17th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
thanks for taking time and feedback. Restitution did amazing job arranging and combining the sounds. On this one, I did not do much myself. I mainly slowed it down and added some cuts, breaks and waves.
I've extended it before, but then I still prefered listening to this short one 3 times in a row :) so I didnt post it.
Anyone who wants to extend or do anything with it is always welcome to here: http://www.audiotool.com/app/juancho_libre_m_rt_n_remix

on Through 303 by M8TN
I think I finally made the synapse connection as to who I've been communicating with by email! (I obviously need to cut down on shibby and wake up a bit) I've been a fan of your stuff since you joined, and I really like the concept of this track! Is there something wrong with me, or were you a member here in the past? Anyway, really creative use of 303 sounds in here! Probably once a month or so, I find myself really missing rebirth (not that that's what you're using here), but at the same time, I think it held me back as a synthesist. I love it when I can coax an impressive and powerful acid line from a regular synth. I really think it's all in the sequencing. It was a pleasure to listen to this! Fave!
M8TN
M8TN replied 17th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
very kind comment wow, thank you!
I had to google rebirth.. looks cool, audiotool is like that, but online and with more machines and equipment.
I don't know about making regular synths sound like a 303. For me - provided the right amount of shibby (I learn a new word) - something like new order confusion is still what is all about.

on when U laugh by deciBel
Thank you for your response, and please don't be offended by my review. As usual, I read through all the reviews before I write mine, and I got the impression from your responses that this was still the "prototype version." The only thing about the recording that led me to believe this was the final moment, it is very sudden and abrupt. I am getting the feeling that this was completely intentional, and so I apologize for making an assumption. It's an absolutely beautiful piece, and I'm glad that I came back to listen again this morning. Getting concerned about you my friend within all the turmoil in the world, and I'm happy that we are still connected in some way.

well according to knowing U , I'm sure U're not someone who cenosors his idea to make the others glad and I'm sure U're such a good friend of mine who'll help me learn more by sharing his positive or negative idea with me ..
...U can underestand me to say , knowing any type of feedback from such a virtuoso musician like U will be so great & absolutely respected worth of considering & appreciated by me..
anyway if U really think this is good enough , I should be glad and I'm seriously gratefull of your attention and shared idea & also especially your time for listening this trial of mine for 2 times & writing 2 times about it.

This is pretty sweet, and sounds pretty true to the "genre." Has a pretty dark vibe to my ears, and there's nothing wrong with that! Nice use of the guitar loop, it has a great groove when coupled with the drum parts. Very well mixed to my ears too! Groovy track! Fave!

Definitely a very cool and interesting song! I dig it! Another song that makes me wonder about the guidelines for this Looptrack Challenge thing, because it's obviously not all loops. Not a big deal, I just remember the previous challenges being all loop tracks. Anyway, I really enjoyed listening! You are definitely improving! Fave!

Pretty cool song! Don't hear this style nearly enough! I heard something around the 1 minute mark that I've heard before, and I think I've used it in one of my songs as well... I just can't for the life of me figure out where... You used the guitar parts in a very pleading manner! The electronic glitchy sounding high hat parts are a nice touch, they have good momentum. Pleasing to the ears, and what more can one ask for? Fave!

traz75 replied 15th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
Thank you!
I know what you think for. Around 1:03, there is a loop what is very-very similar to the main theme of an old song, "Needles and pins" from "Smokie" - maybe you heard that and finds familiar because that.

Just a few days ago told this a guy to me too, and i think he has right.

on So many hurts by traz75
This is a nice one to listen to! I like the rhythm and momentum of it very much! I noticed in the intro there were some pretty loud clicks between one of the loops playing, but after that didn't notice any problems. Seems more upbeat and pleasurable than I expected from the title. Any way, I liked this track!
traz75
traz75 replied 15th Jun 2014 - 11 years ago
Hell, you are right, again. :)
Weird (and a shame too :S) thing i really did not heard that before. Maybe because i worked so many times on the other little problems of the mixes and heard the song again and again, i used to it and don't hear the obvious already.

Try to check it now - i made another final edit on the track - actually it was a pain in ass, because those clicks are originally in the loop and i find impossible to filter them, so had to make some tricky cheats there and there (again... this track is made from forced tricks :D). The result is not perfect, but less disturbing i think.
Btw, there are quite a few dissonant, sometimes incongruous things in the track to mask the problems like clicks etc. But still one of my personal favs. :D

Big thanx for the tip, regards, traz
