on THC - SAVE U by TrippyHippyCrew
This is a very cool composition and vocal performance! I'm enjoying it! Sounds like maybe it was done with a USB mic or something, so the recording could be better, but it does not take away from the power of the work. Very trippy and fun! THC is a good monicker choice! It will work I bet. Fancy sheeit! Fave!

on November Snowstorm by PortraitOfABlackHole
This is an interesting style, in the combination of low tempo and modern "EDM" style sounds. It's not my "go to" sort of song, but I can hear the time and effort that you put into the composition. I like the "froggy" sounding instrument in the second half... pretty cool! If you don't mind me asking, is that a sample or synthetic or possibly a field recording? Either way it's cool. I do like the overall dynamics of the mix, yet I'm getting the feeling of some reverb which is far too wet. I do like a very dry reverb, though, so don't take my word for it. I enjoyed listening!

Thanks spiv! The 'froggy' sound your hearing in the right channel is 100% synthetic, one of those accidental button-mash-patches that I thought was pretty neat, so I just went with it - i'm glad you like it! However a lot of the panned-out hats and such are indeed field recordings. Cheers!

on VOLKANO DANCE MIX by Timmons2
I actually really like what you've done here, despite this not being my favorite style of music. I find it very dancable... don't know if you changed this since crucethus left his comment or not. It doesn't seem to connect to his words for me. I am not a dance club dude either though, I'm more apt to get high in from of the hi fi and braindance... and this song would be good for that! Exciting and positive! Very good stuff! Fave!
Spivkurl
Oh yeah man! You are still the hardcore king around Looperman! Always great to hear your slammin tunes. Seems like an undeserved "ft" for me, but I won't turn down something as cool as that! I have a feeling you will get into the sound of a new instrument that I built recently... kind of a route to tape based turntablism, yet will a record function (unlike vinyl). Maybe I'll upload some loops made with it soon. Ha ha, I seriously can't remember making the loop in this song, but then I can't remember a lot of what I make! Either way, it's a super cool killer track! Love it! Fave!
Spivkurl
Okay, for some reason you contacted me asking for tips on improvement. As this is pretty much my least favorite kind of music, I can only think of one piece of advice... DO NOT refer to a remix of someone else's work as an "original song," as it is not. I knew by the title, of course. I did not know of the group you have remixed, but it took me about 15 seconds to find the original. This is just wrong and possibly illegal.

Spivkurl, I made this with Auxy Music Studio. You can't import loops because its an app from the app store! This is made fully be me and there is no illegal content. I am sorry you feel that way about EDM. I would think you would comment like that since i used to use loops. I dont use loops much anymore. Look at my recent remakes "not remixes since i made them fully myself".

on Brave New World by Nodog
Your song hits the spot man! I'm loving it! Taking me back to the really early trance days, when technology was not so advanced, and when musicians worked hard for their craft. Has a touch of fusion or progressive with that lead synth, which sounds very 60-70s to me. Since I've been working with tape a lot, this makes me wonder how it would sound at "high speed dubbing" speed... could be a hardcore dance classic that way. ha ha. All in all, I dig this one! Fave!

on Dantro versus the Interloper by djpapico
Very wicked! I like this one! Definitely not the sort of thing I hear every day on Looperman. Digging the vocal sampling and rhythmic structures. I can hear why you listed this as techno and not trance. I like this very much! Fave!

on Grind - Multiply by BentonMcKenzie
The vocals are definitely well performed, and that is oh so important. Enjoying this overall. I'm getting the distinct impression that the instrumental was mp3, and then the vocals were mixed over it. If I am wrong, I apologize for that. It just seems like there is some shine missing when the vocals are compared with music. It could simply be how the mix was intended though, so don't pay too much attention to the crazy dude. I like the songwriting, and that makes all of the difference! Good one!

Thanks for listening. The beat was not .mp3 but the low end is a bit dark I must say. No apologies needed, thank you for the feedback, its what I need to hear!

on Help Halloween 2016 by Mosaic
This is a very fun piece, and a bit different from your usual! The vocal clips are funny, but it works. It's sad to me what horror films have been reduced to in recent years, especially with all the remakes being done. I'm sure you've watched your share of originals though! Halloween just doesn't have the impact that it used to for me... in fact with each year, calendar holidays become less and less important to me. Unless something is celestial and aside from human tradition, it is hard for me to appreciate. I do love costumes, gore, and horror though. With the police militarization here in the US, Halloween has lost something as well. It is against the law to hide your identity with masks and the like... so, you know... I found the rash of clown sightings around schools in recent months far more entertaining. They were all over the country, and they were trying to lure people into secluded areas. Funny, but true. I enjoyed your song throughly! Have a great day!

on Sunny Official - Sp00k by sunnydas01
I have to ask... Does this have some sort of racial connotation? I only ask because of the old white boy use of the title, and since their is so much polarization on racial issues lately (with good reason). If it is, then I urge you to add some lyrical flair which reflects this. If not, then I urge you to research what is going on in society right not. I'm sure you're not blue, so dig in and see what color you represent. No it's not political, it is real. Keep making music!!

on Edwardian Haunted by DanGoldstein
I seem to remember hearing this before, possibly it is one which you sent me in an earlier incarnation? Either way it sounds very nice this morning! My head is all on magnetic tape recently, and I can imagine something like this being painstakingly constructed by splicing tape fragments. I know that's not how it was done, but it suggests that style to me. I think that Mosaic is possibly not used to hearing chromatic work like this, leading to his comment about the tuning... though I could be wrong. Very fun to hear!

DanGoldstein replied 5th Nov 2016 - 9 years ago
Hey Pat

this version was developed further in a track called Whole Tone Haunt. There may be some issues with this one that Mosaic was picking up on or it may be as you say about the ear not being fully used to the dissonance created with the whole tone scale. thanks man.

With how Looperman has changed, after receiving a comment from you, I expected to see a new and featured track on your profile. It helped me realize how far back our interaction goes! Basically no one here comments on a song unless they are out promoting something new, including myself in general. Either way, I am loving hearing this track, from what seems like so long ago. It feels like 2011 was some imaginary thing which was invented by insane people such as myself, and that year is not even the worst of it. Since then things have become so strange and virtual. I hate it really, but hearing a song such as this gives me good feelings, in that the time was not simply "in my head." I thank you for visiting the site, and my track, so that I could remember things. I hope that you are well, and that you will keep coming back. Looperman is still an amazing place to interact, it has simply changed with the time. Amazing piece, and so calming! Thank you! Fave!

on Billion - One And Only by BillionaireExclusive
This sounds decent as it stands, and you should be proud of your advances in vocals. I guess one thing I'm noticing here is that the music sounds very muffled... is it possible that it was an mp3, and the vocals got mixed on top of it? I ask, because there is a major difference in fidelity and high frequency presence between the vocals and the music. Judging by the genre, I am guessing that this is the case. It is far better to work with the musician to have them mix the vocals in with the original quality project, or to ask for wav stems and do it yourself. If I am wrong in my assumption, then please correct me. I think the song could sound so much better! Your vocals are good for sure!

BillionaireExclusive replied 28th Oct 2016 - 9 years ago
Thanks for the feedback. The vocals actually were mixed on top of the mp3. I'll see if I can get the wav stems & do it myself to purify the sound of the song. Thanks for letting me know that.

Yeah buddy, this is cool and hardcore! Maybe not my usual industrial listening, but not far off either. Does have a bit of old skinny puppy vibe maybe. Very cool percussion and synthesis! The vocals are pretty wicked too! I've been getting back into distorted vocal parts as well... it's just fun. Thanks for sharing this! Fave!

Thanks man! Vocal effects are my life! It's so fun to hear what you can create using different effect combinations. This was the last song I wrote before calling it quits with my old singer. I had 4 or 5 songs ready to be worked on but things fell apart. I wish this one had been a little better mixed but I've since lost the files. Thanks again for the fav and comment!

on When You Are Here Music by Rakia by FullCapicityMuzic
Very pleasing stuff you two have achieved here! You know how much I respect your vocal and songwriting talents, and they just seem to be getting better all of the time! I too am hearing this early in the morning, and it is perfect for that. It does have some vintage feel about it, aside from the sounds in the music which are more modern. If this were to be performed by a live band, it would push it over the top! Great work! Fave!

on Frying Pan Man by MWRatridge
I like your songs since I could hear them anywhere, and know that it is yours... possibly it is that I don't listen to much of the music which you are influenced by, but I still like that aspect of your music. As a fellow head injury victim, I can hear the serious note below the comedy here, at least I think I hear it. This also reminds me of the show "Roseanne," since she hits Dan with a frying pan pretty often throughout the series. It's funny, but also sad. Very cool and fun song though, and your performances are great! Thanks for sharing!

Reminds me of some of the things I did in my brief stint in college while learning digital recording and synthesis. It has a good sound, and a cool mental effect to it. Not bad at all for the age of fifteen. Looking forward to hearing some of your other work! Cool!

on The Way Side FT katrinabarr04 by surya94
Hey, this is very killer stuff! If it were slightly less dubsteppish in it's sound design, I would be thinking "Bool," which I did anyway. Bool is definitely one of my faves in the modern electronic stuff. I would say that robotizing would ruin where this song has it's strengths. Possibly vocal wise, a more centered vocal would be the key. I have personally been breaking this rule as well though, so don't listen too deeply, just follow your heart. I love the rhythms and the arrangement. Big, quality sound you have achieved! Very cool stuff! Fave!

hey spiv
i was really looking forward to your feedback. and i am glad you have really enjoyed the track.
What i feel is to go with whatever you feel as a producer is good according to you. People may have different opinions as far as one's music is concerned but yeah at the end of the day, just do wht you feel is right according to you.
Thanx for stopping by.

on Reuse Refix by Tinka0
Very intersting style of DnB here, with a lot of industrial vibe contained within. I would agree with Tumbleweed about the low end presence, but it is not a big deal at all... since what is represented is very cool! His EQ recommendations would probably help on their own, since less mid-high area will push the limiter and the balance of lows will be better. Either way, it's a cool beginning, and it would be nice to hear this one "fleshed out." Fun to hear!

This is pretty sonically engaging! I like it! When you ask about it being "gig ready," I assume this is some sort of live in studio performance. Is that the case? If so, I am impressed! It was fun hearing the fairly raw synth sounds and stuff. Definitely feels industrial to me! Great work!

Very interesting style on this track! Fun use of distortion in areas of the sound design! I'm getting flashback of Cevin Key albums when hearing this, which is cool! Were using some sort of loop pedal in this? It reminds me of some of the rhythms I've been achieving while experimenting with mine. Minimal but deep. Great to hear!

This is wicked! I really dig Industrial from Eastern and Central Europe... it seems like that is essential industrial vibe. Deep and dark, with very cool and interesting percussion style. I like the clarity and dryness of this, it gives a very vintage feel. Quite enjoyable!

on KSHMR ID Contest - My Version by juniq
It's alright for EDM, although I generally dislike the whole idea of EDM. I would not call it house in any way though. The arrangement seems okay. The whole thing has very little dynamics though, as if it is over compressed, over limited, or both. You have plenty of headroom, so ease off on the thresholds! Every instrument seems like it's at the same volume with this much "smashing." It could be better, but of course it could be far worse!
juniq
juniq replied 30th Oct 2016 - 9 years ago
well EDM is not a genre more a description for some genres and styles of big party music. like "bigroom" i hate the idea of inventing new words makin it a "genre". but anyways I've spent 2 hours on that only more like a boredom project and mind the bad apple standard headphones i used to master it cz my speakers were in repair i know it's very bad mastered and u can't call it compression ^^ but i think it's quite good for the equipment circumstances I had at this time. you seem to have a lot of experience so I'm glad you took a listen on my track tho :) stay tuned man

Hey, this is very killer stuff! Believably eighties influenced to my ears! I hear a bit of Jan Hammer, and a bit of Depeche Mode going on, but with your own flair. Definitely not what I expected to hear when I visited your page, but it is a pleasant surprise. Noticed your recent hardware acquisitions on your profile... are they featured here at all? I like the volume on this, as it seems read for a vocalist to do their thing before a final mix. I have another collab that I've been putting off, otherwise I would try my hand at vocals... though if you're willing to be patient, maybe it will happen. Thanks for sharing this cool song with us! Fave!

Thanks man! And that would be cool. I'm in no hurry. :) As for my new hardware. This song is all Fl Studio. To make a long story short, I had an band that was active from 2012-2015. Things fell apart between us and due to the fact that I'm not a social person we parted ways. We played a few shows and had some fans but in the end I felt misunderstood by the local scene so I decided to sell all of my gear. At the time I had an Alesis Micron, Novation Ultranova, and an Alesis Multimix 8 mixer. Only recently have I started to rebuild. I don't have a mixer at the moment so I can't record my new gear but that will change soon. But yes I have another...(my third one) Alesis Micron, an Alesis Dm-Lite electronic kit and I just got my Blofeld (Keyboard Version) this week! Next on the list is a mixer so you will hear all of my new gear in the near future. :)If you want to hear my Dm-Lite kit in action check out the song "Lust For Blood" on my page. Thanks again for stopping by!
