you ever consider going live or getting signed?

good stuff!
(you have 6 decibels of headroom just sitting there)

sorry to hear about the loss... loss sucks :(
i've lost a lot of friends, but never any blood.

i can't really think of anything to say that wouldn't feel stupid
like...
communication does not happen in a vacuum but in context. therefore i shall stay away from examples that could evoke unnecessary debate.

great track.

u know i could ask u the same thing "Did u ever think of getting signed". I'm just a beginer though, i just have skills with a sequencer. U know all the technical stuff. I realy think we could all have a great vactation somewhere and not need a lot of $$$$$. Apparently we're all bums or at least used to b bumms. Lets wake up a little bit of the past and see what happens, im sure Clay doesn't care... as long as we have free beer he's there. lol. Lets party and lay some tracks down..Like I said.."Fantasy Island"

Thanks for your concern and support. Yeah I go off on tangents sometiimes. since we're on fantasy island, lol, If we ever get the chance to drink a few rounds we need to bring JDOT and CHEEVUZ their my only friends on this site they both rock. I think u could use CHEEVUZ for an MC on a couple of your tracks he just out of the blue downloaded one of my songs "LIFE OF A BUNNY" and sent me an amazing rap over it about the life and death of a mislead porno starr. if u want u can send me your email and i'll send it to u. U should check their stuff out.I'm heading over to your profile now. cheers

make sure you upload the track at 128 bits at 44100..

that's why it's all messed up.

gonna download

after downloading and checking properties, i noticed the bit rate was at 16, 44800.. i used to upload a lot of tracks here beyond 128, 192 lol.. 320 and stuff...

really chill!! i am really enjoying the track!!

after you make it, you should upload it into another program, or reason... but i don't know.. but use something to master this, because you have a lotta headroom! like 4 decibels or soo...

good track!! obviously you are learning! keep it up!

Gonna be really hard on you k?

Stop questioning yourself.

this is really good!

i would maybe drop the tempo, slow it down a little? but then again, it adds to the feel being up-tempo.
drums more in the mix , at least the kick for me.. i love HEAVY kicks.
dare i say, add some reverb? on the mastering?
vocals could be pumped up with some production, i googled this very quickly, maybe there is something in there for you.
http://www.harmony-central.com/articles/tips/vocal_processing_tips_2/

simple-pure heartfelt music.
great bass, lyrics, singing, acoustic guitar work!

you could go a lotta ways with this one, but keep it simple.

on God of the Gaps v2-0 by JHolmes
again, i do have to say that your piano needs to be fuller!!!

but goddamn! this is fantastic, love the tension and release!

have you tried recording the sound of your speakers playing the piano part? and then placing that on top of the midi track?
you know what i mean? that might add some more character!

really cool.. damn love the disnonant bridge! gave me chills.

i hate christians and muslims, and everybody for that matter sometimes, but I hate I HATE, how they self-proclaim faith, and they bait the end of the world to prove their religion is true.
Armageddon and whatnot. idiots.
end of days makes about much sense as martyring yourself for a thousands virgins in my opinion.

we are moss covering a big ball of dirt in space and time at best. life will continue.

love the track!
JHolmes
JHolmes replied Unknown
I recorded directly from my Roland keyboard via the headphone jack to the line in on my computer. I think it fattens the piano a bit...

... then I promptly deleted all my working .wav files by accident, so I haven't gotten to play with effects on the piano. But anyway, it might sound a bit better now.

i knew when i saw the title and the genre i would love it.

really great bass!!
high five yourself!

no criticisms except the piano is a little thin for my taste.

i can't get over that bass!! sounds soo good! voyetra?? huh..

wow dude, i really enjoyed this! just needs vocals.. like every track on looperman ;)

i am really impressed actually, you have a wide taste in music, and i like what you have to say man!
i know it is in bad taste to spam tracks, but this made me think about an old track of mine, and it directly relates to yours.

JHolmes replied Unknown
Thanks for the enthusiastic review.

The bass is all synth work (Toxic Biohazard, a vanilla bass from their bass pack with some mild adjustments) and placed by hand in a sequencer. I think I also have a few effects on the channel to boost the sound and clean it up a bit.

The Voyetra USB sound card I used to use broke (picked up my old laptop with it still plugged in and ripped the board in half), so there's no soundcard post processing going on. Sadly, I don't have the setup to try to record instrumentation.

I would try to put vocals on my tracks, my by voice is too low for the sound I really want to hear. Also, lyrically I get stuck in ruts. I tend to write four on the floor tracks with very similar ABAB structured verses. If I could find a singer/lyricist though...

hmmnn.. you should re-upload this at 128, and 44100..

i know that i uploaded some tracks at like 192 and at 44800 or whatever and they came out all glitchy and fucked up, just listen to this track yourself,

so what i did, was download it, and now i will review!

good mastering!!
interresting use of holly's vocs, and trippy rhythm!!

love the ring modulation? it's really cool!

i think you have a lot of headroom... and you should utilize it!
add some pads or something!

lol

i remember that!
anyways, i mentioned you in a game development thread

I use glitch, but when i use it, i use it for each break inbetween/during count/count... the drum stuff is great, but ... i love the song. a great song!
Downloaded, Favorites and recommended!.

Glitch... you can use it off and on too.. sometimes.. i just copy paste. Reverb/Delay, Crossfade to Reverse Reverb Chorus... Or some craZy vst. hehe.. I am ranting.

on Rock of Tallinn by Randall822
ahh

Damn.. You are like a producing machine...
Next song FUNK!!??!?!
lol

ok..

Personally, on the drums, I feel like they should be MORE "AHHHH!!!" volume wise... it is punk anyways???

More CYMBALS! Louder KICK!!!! (by the way, this is just a fan of punk talking...)

Very cool!

Another thing.. and I mean.. I amm SOOOO guilty about this, is that I lay my drums MIDI, and I do all this work on them, BUT, I never Move the Midi marker off the Beat!
Do you know what I mean?... Like.. a real drummer will sometimes be off just that little bit.. And it just fits..
I feel.. just listening, that you could definitely do that with the drums here...
but DAMN! Good job on those rolls!!!!!
sounds great!
Something that i have been practicing.. well.. not necessarily practicing as i haven't written anything in a while with midi, but I will CLOSE my eyes.. and try and match the LOOPED part...
I haven't had a decent song in months tho....

I really dig it, but it's too short, and without vocals... i just feel... like something is missing...
You should just do a 2 minute solo!!!!!!
Randall822
Randall822 replied Unknown
Hello Abe,
Funk....? I could as I do have a number of Funky things on my Korg keyboard unit. Plus guitar stuff too that I could put in.

Louder drums? Could have, but am just trying to balance things out so as to make sure the lead is heard.
The kick comes out nice if your playing it on bigger speakers. If your listening to these songs on 1" computer speakers, you won't hear much bass or drum stuff.
On my system, the kick drum is punchy and tight.
In fact to me, the best sound I have made from a kick as far as 'punch'.

I hardly use MIDI anymore. Too much time messing around with it. I just use real recorded drums from www.betamonkeymusic.com these days.

I do know what you mean about not trying to make every beat perfect as then it sounds mechanical. I do have several rhythm settings that will swing the drums so they are not right on and that will give them a better feel.

Just haven't experimented with that section yet. ;-)

Yes, the song is too short. I started it at a reasonable speed, then when it speeded up, there was no stopping it.. ha ha.

Thanks for you review as always,
Randy

on Van Halen meets Huey Lewis by Randall822
hahah.. not subtle at all when you said Van Halen meets Huey Lewis!

Dare I say more reverb was in my head hearing the synths, plus more tension? The synths sounds like it is just one shot, when you could add a lot of emotion with paced feeling thru striking the keys?...
everything else sounds PERFECT.

I love the subtlety of the guitar work.
wow.

solo just kicked in.

I am going to shut my trap.
and just enjoy what is happening in my ears.

Hello Abe,

Well I wrote you E-mail before this, but I wanted to answer some in here as well. I always appreciate your review as you tell it like it is. Of course, we all have different taste and what we want or wish to hear in others tunes.

The Synth was set down and then looped so I didn't have to keep playing it over and over.

I didn't add a lot as I am trying to play two different songs in one and needed to keep things unclutered is all.

Thanks for your review, I appreciate it.

on Shake N Roll Possibly Last Beat by MosReQuest
i dunno.. on one hand.. it's perfect..

but if you want to get musical.. whenever you change from part to part.. you would mess with the loop/midi, so it changes up from being in it's pure form, to like 3rds/4ths or most definitely a seventh and then into the chorus or whatever...

that is all outsider stuff... just my opinion.

do what you do.

a bridge wouldn't hurt tho.

hahha! i love the beatnuts!

ohh heh.. beanut?.. hmm.. don't have any idea.

club banger.

Jdot! ahh, i have heard about you.. you are a monster!

mixing vocals into this may be a bad idea, i would mix them with the main mix, not from this master... as it is VERY heavy on the treble side.. not in a bad way... jus sayin....

Love the use of effects! too often forgotten by a lot of the aspiring producers and beat makers on this site, and in the world.

Very well produced and implemented.

awesomeness...
just look down at all these reviews, and i would like to take all what was said and add it again!

hmm.. when the vocals kicked it, it opened up, and i really enjoyed that.. i felt that that was missing from the synths, especially the bass.. as i feel they could be as full as that vocal loop...

really fantastic!

on Dark soul by Dj_Lex
I like this.. but i like more rock drums, as i am a metal head at heart..

i did notice this was normalized at -6 dbs.. you have a lot of room for molding this into some sonic space, and mind fuqing bass, with a little effort....

not a big deal..

i was also thinking a slight amount of delay on the changes added just right might accentuate it into a more flowing piece, and also, if you use the tools that you have to make the delay change slightly over time, you might bring out some very cool sub-rhythms..

shrug

i love the title, and the song is good!

ps, your arpegiatted synths were fucking awesome.

great use of vocals and whatnot

you are peaking at -6db's, giving you at least PLUS 12 decibels, WITHIN reason.... i mean, you up bass to much, it will clip, but some stuff could definitely be louder

i can't promise anything, as i am busy, but i would be happy to remaster and show you how

i really like the chill but angry feel, ominous....

on Summer Time by air213
damn!! watch the levels!!

i would at least drop this by -3db's and you are probably cool..
you are definitely clipping, i know that much

i do dig it tho!
really good work on the changes from part to part, accentuating the lines with effects and whatnot...

you were trying to hit that BASS huh??... there are easy ways to hit the bass without clipping the little stuff... and also, there has been a shift in the world-wide view of how LOUD should Loud be. It should be full, feel full to your ears, but not possibly blowing up coils and amps (but i have to agree that would be awesome if this song did)

awesome use of vocals..

is it summer yet??? or is that in june?

anyways, sorry for my fragmented review, i love the bass at about the mid point, and then the esoteric synths were fantastic.

damn you are clipping.

Thanks for lettin me kown about the clippin and thanks for your time c

This track was created by combining a lot of loops and vocals from various music programs. Some of the vocals are by me and some I've snatched from loop packs to create a kinda cross-gender overall vocal effect.I pieced together words from various places to make a lyric that made sense and carried across the emotion I was feeling.

This has great dub, but the vocals did get on my nerves.
I was like .. ok Number One shut up, you are fucking up the break!

lol... this is great, i love how you are playing the delay to your advantage!!! that is adding such intensity...

good sense of space...

ok... so i want to offer you my ideas..

I woulda posted this as jazz lol.. (just to be a dickhead) and then , i would taken the voice, you know at the first part, how he says, number one, number one, but then reversed it into your crash on the down beat?.. you know?? and then , after doing that, his voice could become molded into anything you want..
like reverse textured synthed out voice?.. or like... chopped and screwed.. lol.. that would be epic..

i dunno curtis..

you are .. like.. to me, i think about it, you are already a legend in my mind, just that as the more you grow older, I can only wonder if you will be number one, or stop giving a shit about numbers..? you know??

Ill definitly mess with reversing the vocals. Oh yeah I'm going to have a hardcore release soon, maybe within the week. I have talked to the label owner and he's liking the tune, I'm just waiting on a guy, dj cotts, to give me a vocal saying,"mate, those are awesome pants where did you get them?"
