on 32nadeln Rata-RipperRMX feat. dezentral by JackRipper
i love it!

i think it's brilliant!

it almosts verges on .. .some strange binary dilect? lol
dezentral must be serbian?

it is like a better amon tobin for sure... like.. did you dig that vocal work amon tobin or prefuse 73 used to do (kinda still does???), it is a really.. fantastic piece of art dude
again, i would give you my zippo lighter, a watch, and two packs of gum for a cd
:)

to me, it .. kinda sounds like..
like if your turntable started sleeping with the drum machine, and they catch the beat rewinding and DEZENTRAL caught the action on an audio camera

well done lol!

Great sub-rhythmic all over this...

10 minute songs seem to be some of the best songs huh?
:)

I totally gotta get back to your e-mail, but I love the vibes you give off.
This really lends itself to the senses, and good deep thought.

Altho "Dub" I think I understand the feeling.. I really think it takes an Artist
to make something as intense, and alive like this.

Great track!
:)

lol, and yes, you really got some good loops off this one

on Pathological Science by drinkinstein
Kary Mullis the Nobel Prize winner even stated that the ozone is a natural balance of O2 and carbon.

altho, everything we do to the world... it's natural that if you burn the carbon in a piece of wood, it goes into the environment, and then rain, condensation, it naturalizes itself.

but, when we burn plastics, something synthetic, it's a new compound added to the atmosphere. it's not good or bad. it's just "is" what it "is".

i love this.
fantastic track.

next time turn the "in" track down (err your vox), and use a compressor. (even tho it won't sound ok while recording, after you mix it, it will sound very clean ;)
it keeps the clipping down BEFORE you mix.

awesome track

wow...

that's really tough material...

dope.

powerful. our past is just a reflection we give the world.
and this ...
this is perfect.

i agree with the lyrical content more than the music.

(my favorite part was the slow bass synth, it contrasted the flow of the piano, juxtaposed with the vox's... it was a great track)
nice to meet you :)

hah! right on!

this makes me look at my drum machine and think hellya!

some REVERB would sound awesome on this! did you try a room reverb on the loops? that may sound great!
or
delay the rhodes! you will get a very nice landscape in my opinion! you should try some effects at least.

this is really great!

thanks for listening and the kind words guy, honestly, I've been pondering the use of effects in general quite a bit lately, I tend to go in different directions sometimes, alot of older Afro pop mixes tend to be a little on the dry side sometimes, I've only had the full version of Acid for three months, prior to that, I worked on the very.very first recording programs for PC..in 1982!! and Dr. T's sequencer for Atari circa 1987-1993!!..and mucho years in between!!!thanks again for your feedback!

i love the african feel a lotta your material has

great pulsing subrhythms and fantastic ... polarity mind twisting squeels and shimmers.

man, this feels like i ate a half ounce of magic mushrooms and wore nothing but a hat and a plastic shovel and i am chasing after that willy hyena who stole my banana

lol
love it, keep doing whatever the hell you are doing lol

The Noize. Check out my gallery for some of my favorite instruments - the geng gongs in particular. The bamboo jaw harp's can make sounds that are inherently psychedelic in nature. Since I discovered them in the mid `90's I've played them a lot in conjunction with a Boss DD-2 digital delay pedal. Playing to/with an effect like that is to me the ultimate in Hi/Low Tech and it's not unlike what I'm trying do do with sampling. Maybe my stuff should be labeled "Retro" - like late neolithic. Grabbing whatever works and I can scavenge up!

The African roots...well, no getting away from that one even if I wanted to.

I still haven't taken any of it very seriously yet. Sincerely, sure (music's about that) but since I'm using other people's samples how can I not give it back? Glad you like what I'm trying to do - the software's creating lot's of limitations, but I suppose in a way it's part of the fun (or drama).

hmnnn

it's gonna be quite hard to fix the loop...

what i do recommend, is that you look at the waveform, and then look at your bassline (?) and then your vocals, and try and move it?.. .now.. if that still doesn't work, you could ... i think go to edit->split the wave up. so then you can move the individual pieces here and there...

problem is... it will probably still not fit just how you like...

i do recommend acid or ableton... or fruity, but you want free?
... i don't know .. if there is a free DAW out there that can accomplish the task

but i hope you find what you are looking for!
aDeviantSexualInterest
aDeviantSexualInterest replied Unknown
You have my sincerest thanks for the advice. I've been playing around with the timing, and I believe I've got it done to the best of my abilities[the drums fir perfectly when my singing doesn't fukk it up], so I'm starting to thing the organ wave is the problem. Are you saying I should cut that one up and adjust it as needed? I would hate to, 'cause I love the tune, but if you think it'd work I've definitely give it a go.
And thats for the tip on DAW, I will definitely look into it. And again, this really means a lot to me that you'd take your time to help someone so green>:-D Take care, and the best of luck to you!

agree with BigPete.

at first.. i wasn't feeling it..
(err.. i dunno how much i like the drums.. but they are not bad at all!!! just... to me... heh)
but then something happened... and i couldn't stop getting chills.

i love that guitar groan tail end thing... that is quite a cool ambience.
Great Songwriting.
thank you for doing this. i really enjoyed this.
toddj
toddj replied Unknown
Thanks, I know the drums aren't the best. The were a generically generated loop through Magix. I felt like it worked for what I was trying to do at the time.

I'm glad it effected you in such a manner. Thanks for you kind remarks! Your also very much welcome!

on Bonobo challenges the Electrical Storm by n0mad23
bring it

bring it

bring it

bring it

:)

i love the feeling.. there is a fantastic sense of imminent death... in fact, for some reason it made me think of imminent death...
I am gonna be really completely honest with you n0mad23, as , really all we are, are musicians with avatars, and you remember about a month ago? when all those thunderstorms came out thru washington?... i was in east washington, and thru my depressive and frustrated state, i drove into the storm, and parked in the heart of it, and walked around screaming and cursing at God.

I lived, and that has to mean something...

maybe personal experiences have to do with replays on a track?

gonna download this and listen some more tomorrow.

Faved.

n0mad23 replied Unknown
Wow - this is a very interesting review. It's an "ego" stroke to think the music caused this kind of reaction. I've been wondering lately about sensory priority lately and certainly sound is closer to the real than image. For sure a particular sound can jack you right back into a memory - and there's no better mnemonic device for accessing said memories.

I don't get "imminent" death from it - but I do see the connection. Simian defiance is about standing and facing death, but hopefully staring it down in the process. Like your own experience in the storm?

Credit where it's due: thanks everyone for the fabulous samples used here.

on Destination Space by toddj
heh, recommended by n0mad23,

great sense of space!
lol

damn! that keyboard had some great tones on it?!! did you throw down the guitar tho?

i love the off-beat calypso effect on the drums!
(err? is that ? what the hell? why does that work? lol)

i mean, it has the feeling of one two, one two, straight into the unknown!

great levels too btw!
toddj
toddj replied Unknown
Thanks Alivid for your perspective I guess I never had the feeling for calypso when I came up with this tune. I'm not real familier with that style. As far a the guitar sounding instrument. Every thing was played using that wonderful gem of a keyboard. That wah wah sound comes from the clavi intstrument. Man I do miss that Keyboard. It did have some power for just being a cheaper piece of equipment. I'm glad nOmad23 told you about it. Thanks for the listen and the comments.

reload it at 128 kbs and stuff (you are loading tracks higher than the allocated bandwidth, that's why it sounds crazy glitched and bad)

just re-upload at CD quality 44100 sample rated 16 bit file.
that's all ... it's glitchy because this is at CD Quality 320000 or something or other... looperman is weird like that.

I really fucking hate the genre stuff

I think style .. you are cool!

listening.. i think you have a great.. rhythm ... i really like this!

it's got great elements of percussion softly kissing the underside of harmony!

you do have a lot of headroom, and i think this should be mastered.

fantastic looping! fantastic track! loving the offbeat/on beat control of this... such contrast of ... feelings!

great track!

I'm now wondering just how nice Ableton Live must be. I'm doing this all on freeware so I think it speaks volumes about the fabulous samples that are available on this site. Maybe once I've got past this brutal learning curve and figure out what limitations I won't be able to transcend, I'll really be able to create some excellent dub. I can't believe how much fun this approach really is!!
