Description : I re-uploaded the song after making several changes to the VU levels. OOPS, Like I said my first recording. Also converted the file from MP3Pro to MP3. A big thanks to Barry Morgan for the bass track.
If someone would like to contribute some kind of hook as it was suggested in a review we'd appreciate that also.
If for some reason it doesn't play or you like this cover, then please me know.

i just wanted to point on production first... which i don't mean to be a dick.. i went from knowing this stuff, to screwing this stuff up BIG time, and then re-learning it..
production wise.. with your mastering... i understand that it's an acoustic track, and that the peaks and valleys should flow accordingly (as opposed to a hip-hop/rap/rock track)
but you peaked at like... -15.4 dbs... where as... you normalized??? at -16??? ...
I don't mean to be mean.. but .... ok... Louder is better in my opinion... like.. if i clip.. i know how to fix that, but NEVER CLIP.. but.. you should ... honestly.. ALWAYS try and hit that sweet spot between clipping and it being too loud for the listener... (JUST MY OPINION!!! ok!)
NOW!
To the talent, after I boost the track by 16 dbs.
wow.. I really... couldn't tell the difference between Jewel and you?? Nice effects... beautiful work.. but the panning was weird with headphones, but I bet it sounds epic with stereo speakers...
There's a beautiful release and response with your overdubs...
lol.. for some reason when you or some girl sang ladddiddda it gave me chills... (wtf? lol)
SOooo...
I really like it!
just be aware of how your system sounds on your comp, as opposed to like... a car or cd player.... or an ipod/mp3player....
thanks for your review, after this song was recorded it literally took me 10 attempts to upload the song properly. we had clipped all over the place recording the vocals, so at first i figured i should bring the master down a bit to prevent the clipping on the master track.
I had no idea how to record properly until spacestationwagon said i should study up on proper mic and eq usage.....so we did...and now i understand the principles a little better.
i should re-record the song but i think im just gonna boost the master a the 16db since it is a cover.... this was good honest feedback, thanks
I enjoyed this one!! Nice vocals and clear!! The chord progressions flowed nicely!! Read in one of your replys you were going to give up-- NEVER do that- because that is how we learn! Outstanding Job! and thanks again for reviewing my songs!!
thanks for chequing in... i was just gonna give up on that song cause i couldn't get it to upload properly...but i'll always continue playing music...thanks again
Taking the swing out of it makes it feel like a whole different song. It takes courage to reinterpret a song this way instead of doing a completely straight cover. I was reading about your travails recording this thing. I don't know if anyone mentioned getting a compressor for vocal recording, but it's a good idea. Vocals can be TOO dynamic. They give everyone fits. Anyway, very cool cover.
this was our first cover and when i recorded it - it was clipping all over the map... and i didn't even realize it. I'm just learning who to use software compressors... but it's a learning process.....still loads of fun though....
First, I love this melancholic folk rock song. Then, the instruments really sound great especially the guitar. What did you use to make the vocals sound like this?
Dying to hear a new track
thanks for reviewing...guitar was old 12string mic'd up.. with doubler effect from waves bundle.
The vocals were my girlfriend jen...she had 4 seperate tracks on it. and we screwed around with the levels.. glad you enjoyed it.
Wow.. finally i heard the song....great job...that guitar sounds real nice and youve got nice vocals too..somr hicks like others have mentionned...
overall great song..well put together...
Im a looperman musician ..I just take beat loops and add my instruments and sing my compos...check me out...
welcome to looperman...youll love it...peace Dvibe
Im glad that you finally got a chance to listen to it...im glad that it plays ok now....i was gonna give up on it...pheww!!
Im gonna be listening to more of your stuff.
thanks again
a good chord progression, nice vocals, with good changes! i can see where your coming from with this track. Only 1 problem- the bitrate! It sounds distorted beacuse you need to change the bitrate to over 160 kb! so just convert it to a higher bitrate and you should be fine!
thanks for stoppin in. i had already increased the bitrate over 160. and changed it to best quality vbr. and it was still causing me problems. This latest upload i converted to mp3 from cd format. so i hope it works. cause if it doesn't im gonna have to leave this one alone for a while.
thanks again
...BRILLIANT!...AND THE SONG ,I'VE ALWAYS LOVED.THE COMBINATION IS WORTHY OF AN AWARD.STEP ASIDE COLDPLAY,HERE COMES JENSTONIC...WOW!THIS IS ONE BAND I'LL BE WATCHING..CLOSELY..
thanks for the review, were glad you enjoyed it. Actually were surprised it was audible, since weve been having reports of it not playing properly on looperman. thanks again, work in progress.
Dont know if othors were able to hear your song...it skips alot...you just commented on one of my songs...wanted to hear yours...get back to me..peace Dvibe
thanks for listening. were gonna get around to doing a little more with it and im not sure why it doesn't play that well off the site. maybe i should download it under a different format.
but thanks again. i wish i had even half of your talent with the guitar. :)

For some reason your track didn't play 100 % right. (a bit like when the old casette used to slip) and I got a slight tremolo effect. I did mange to hear what you have put together and I think this is a big step in the right direction. For me, the song has to grab you and thats what your song does. Catchy addictive lyrics and tune. more !!!
i agree with neil.good job, judt an idea, maybe use reverb on your vocals, and may be verse and chorus the songs ,on the instruments,.However saying that,i loved it.as a first recording its fantastic.Keep going, and a a big WELL DONE,good work, peace and much respect,kj,tribal crew...
you asked for it so here it is. first recording nice job. your singing, lyrical content, playing and compsition are great.
you have a few technical hickups but who doesn't for your first recording this is great!
you should do some reading on vocal recording. how to use the mic properly for solid levels. also read up on mixing and eq this song doesn't need any bass that could be taken care of with some eq on the guitar and your final mix. if i were to do anything different would be a hook or solo with that 6 string guitar of yours. nice work and welcome to looperville!
neil
Thanks for the review, Im gonna look on line for some more advice on vocal recording and eq'ing. Too far seems too distant and too close it clips.
Thanks i will check things out.

Description : Remastered March 2023. Recorded live on two mics. For my wee daughter Tui; I wrote it sitting on the bathroom floor, keeping her company while she was in the bath....
Description : Again, another early production from like two years ago. I had a cheap little Yamaha acoustic guitar that I borrowed and mic'd and some congas that were given to me as a birthday present. I used my iPad GarageBand app to record the strings and the big bass drum thingy at the interlude and little electric guitar parts in there too haha. All the vocals were done by myself and my brother throws in some little things here and there with his voice :P Enjoy!
Description : A rhythm guitar track I made and sent to my cousin on the East Coast. Made with Tape-A-Talk app. from the Google Play Store. Download and collaborate with it.
Description : My very first acoustic piece in quite a while..
I hope someone grabs this and puts some vocals to it.
The software I used is Reaper, Addictive Drums and Gearbox.
Hardware is a Jackson RR3 plugged into a Line 6 Pod X3..
Description : Thats my newest Track all made out of free vst of the dsk series. Its a kind of chill out acoustic string thing that makes me thinking. Its very calm, inspirational and gives me power...
