eh..... did you re-upload recently?????

i am kinda irked..

i just wanted to point on production first... which i don't mean to be a dick.. i went from knowing this stuff, to screwing this stuff up BIG time, and then re-learning it..

production wise.. with your mastering... i understand that it's an acoustic track, and that the peaks and valleys should flow accordingly (as opposed to a hip-hop/rap/rock track)
but you peaked at like... -15.4 dbs... where as... you normalized??? at -16??? ...

I don't mean to be mean.. but .... ok... Louder is better in my opinion... like.. if i clip.. i know how to fix that, but NEVER CLIP.. but.. you should ... honestly.. ALWAYS try and hit that sweet spot between clipping and it being too loud for the listener... (JUST MY OPINION!!! ok!)

NOW!

To the talent, after I boost the track by 16 dbs.

wow.. I really... couldn't tell the difference between Jewel and you?? Nice effects... beautiful work.. but the panning was weird with headphones, but I bet it sounds epic with stereo speakers...
There's a beautiful release and response with your overdubs...

lol.. for some reason when you or some girl sang ladddiddda it gave me chills... (wtf? lol)

SOooo...

I really like it!

just be aware of how your system sounds on your comp, as opposed to like... a car or cd player.... or an ipod/mp3player....

really cool
GREAT cover!

thanks for your review, after this song was recorded it literally took me 10 attempts to upload the song properly. we had clipped all over the place recording the vocals, so at first i figured i should bring the master down a bit to prevent the clipping on the master track.

I had no idea how to record properly until spacestationwagon said i should study up on proper mic and eq usage.....so we did...and now i understand the principles a little better.

i should re-record the song but i think im just gonna boost the master a the 16db since it is a cover.... this was good honest feedback, thanks

on In A New House by Dirtydowntowner
I am gonna be completely honest with you... at first.. i felt kinda disgusted to the feel.. and I felt the melody.

I reallly started to feel the MC drum groove... I have an 808.. i love it to death...

I love the panning and the melodies... the vocal cut is the hook, it made this song perfect to me. I just looooved that part.

When the dance drums kick, they needed to penetrate the bass.. but it didn't.. to my ears...

An odd track.. but this is a reaally unique track and it's really good. One of my favs.

POST EDIT..

soo i look at it like this... typically what i do... and this is totally my PERSONAL way of doing things.. but when i look at a final track... and you load it in Audacity or Soundforge (??what do you use btw??), I look at the archs and the flow of the track..

I take notice of peaks and valleys, in separate tracks, and in the final mix..

I love the way this is mixed.. but I would open it up with some REAL bass in the dance part.... you know... It feels to subdued... ... a bit too much for me..

Ok.. so i don't mean to be an asshole.. just honest criticism... I love the song.

on Fade by DaMann
it's too abrupt..

I love it!!

But you are moving too quickly without letting the listener love your track!!

You have a lot of good stuff happening in this... Just think about song structure.. which i know you know...

It is too regimented. For my taste..

Regardless.. hope all is well Curtis.. miss ya man.. I have been on this insane shit-fest of a life journey.. heh..

DaMann replied Unknown
I was trying to make something crazy. You know if this was on vinyl, you could play it and everyone would think you are a godly DJ, mixing in and out of 10 second segments flawlessly, just play with other records and look like you are doing something while this plays.

good bass!!!

This is stereo bass at it's finest!

I have personally had a lot of issues with bass being stereo panned ruining vocal tracks. and stuf..

great stuff.

I love it.

(the bass at the end stereo bouncing was fucking awesome.)

What you scratching with???
Loops?????

Would you be interested in collaborating on a gangster rap song with me?
36Chambers
36Chambers replied Unknown
Hell yes I'd be down. Its been too long since I have been around. So much to take in. But yes, we need to get that collab on BIG style.

Just let me know what you have in mind.

Sorry for taking so long to reply, I had to go out of town for a spell. But like I said, we need to get DOWN.

Let me know. And thanks for listening.

on this is for ladies only by chrudosh
I dunno where you are at in mixin..

But i really like the track already.

It's got a really cool sidechained compression, and then a nice amount of reverb to make it feel soo full and fuzzy on my headphones (but not too much!, which I really appreciate!)

Fantastic track!

Two things Straight up I noticed, the auto panning filter, when it hits the HIGHS, it's going soo high you are definitely clipping... just watch out, that's how tweaters get blown!
Damn, GREAT PROGRESSION. I am trancing out lol..
I would maybe look at automating the phase of your effect, with a cut in volume as it goes higher and higher on the filter.

Finally, I think you could do some good, slowly mixing some parts thru volume on like... the distorted sounding bass....

Your synth work is AMAZING. I love the tone, and call and response.

You are a monster producer.

FAVED!!!!

DOWNLOADED!!!

I TELL MY FRIENDS!!
hehe

(EDIT)
Ok, so your mastering is very good... still, that auto filter hurts my ears... I am wearing headphones... I think you could still deffinetly take the effect "wet" down a couple DB's and you have a impeccable track.

(post edit 3rd listen)

I really like this... I am a dude.. but it is very cool, soo the title is off lol...
I agree with eshar too... a buildup, and vocals are a bit subdued, louder might add some strange curiosity to your track.
I love it.

I have a pretty good feeling, that i have loved all your work, and I will continue to.

ufff...what can i say..friend, thanks. That was awsome review...

collab?yeah, i think that's superb idea...but now, i don't have a lot of time to produce "music"(i have to do some fuckin' great project to school:-( )

I will be with you in touch and I thinkin' about what(great song) we can do together...

Thx again for da review, brother...

Hey man, been meaning to get back at yah, and a lot of others (busy work, and recording)

I really really like the dissonance. A LOT. I am really big on that.
(so much so.. that this is a favorite)
This is totally personal taste, but instead of the synth, i woulda preferred a Rhodes.... But REGARDLESS.

I feel the transition, and I am all for it.
Great stuff!

Someday in the distant future, we will collaborate hopefully lol.....

Great !! Collab is ON...when time allows...thanks for reviewing and listening. I agree, rhodes would have added a tonal edge...

on guitar only song?..with a bit more by ChrisHall
hey, I am wondering... is it supposed to sound really buzzy??

I mean, From what i can tell, I really dig it. But I have had an issue once or twice on this site, that my tracks end up sounding very frayed and skipped, and ... generally F*cked up.

Regardles..

From what I hear, this is right up my alley. (lol, even if you did add buzzes and phased tuning)

Look forward to hearing more of your tracks.
ChrisHall
ChrisHall replied Unknown
hey man. nah its not suppost to sound buzzy. i didnt unplug my laptop when i was recording so i got the earth loop problem....bad i know. i just need to re record it and then stick it back up.

thanks for the review!

just saying.
Drop this around -1 decibels.. -3 with a good dynamic compressor, focusing on the music. You got a good mix.

you rock socks and non-bad words like pussy and bass.

lol good stuff man... Great stuff..

Just think and pose the question at me, why aren't I making a shit shit shit ton of money with my skills?

"""Well, personally, I don't think I am that good... I really don't feel my songs have a whole lot of depth or sound."""

Don't say anything like that... I was listening to your song, right now, and i felt like saying that about my own music.
You have depth in ideas and changes...

Keep it up, I think the reverb is wayy shitty tho.
DanielGtrman
DanielGtrman replied Unknown
thanks for reviewing. I always appreciate comments here, and reverb is my arch enemy. works on some tracks but not on others, how much to use, leave out. Still learning,. The day we stop learning is the day we stop growing. Thanks again

on No Place Like Home by Dyleon
powerful stuff bro...

one night? nice...

One of the best hiphop songs i have ever heard...

hopefully you can ride that... seems like you can get inspiration and it's just clicking and flowing and then you lose it... and it really takes something to keep that flowing...

I really want to hear more sir.

Lyrically intelligent and tight (Fantastic story or bio?)... Great musical elements, dissonant and syrupy.
maybe a bridge? meh..
to distracting this was a somber ride dude, and I didn't want to get off.
Dyleon
Dyleon replied Unknown
Thanks for the review man. yeah, this song was the byproduct of a new years resolution, so I started it after the ball dropped, and finished it in the early afternoon. It's not a bio in the strictest sense, I did use some aspects of my life, but in general it is a fictional story.
And I will definitely be putting more music up soon.

Happy and creepy aren't two things i see having a nice date, going home, having sex, awkward breakfast, and calling each other ever again... Unless.. Happy got creepy pregnant... then that would just be weird, and is completely absurd and insane...

Tracks pretty good..

wow.. this is like... intense... you are a mean ass bass player sir. That's kinda mind boggling..

Feels like a summer street burning and an acid trip that has gone straight to the way side.

on My Angel by GameboiX
the stereo stuff is really interresting in this track...
that can cause weird saturation... I would maybe watch for that.. it's very miniscule but you are getting some weird saturation in places that phasing is definitly the culprit..

I totally see an angel in my minds eye... kinda there but not...

Great track
Your bass is messing with my brain lol.. It's a great bass, could it move a little more (change key and whatnot??)? it's not a big deal.. a little repetitive... Still awesome as all hell..

Outro was FANTASTIC.

Wow, i love the swanky guitar in the back there... I LOVE YOUR BASS DRUM 'VERB.. wow, that is powerful... I am stealing that.

Also.. I am insanely intrigued with your compression. That is really interesting.. It causes some really cool fullness (as it should, but I just wanted to point that out, for some reason, it just seemed abnormally cool)

I am loving this track! All ableton?

Awesome Riff wink wink...

Really... I was listening to this today at work in between Metallica, the new underoath (meh), and all that remains... and for some reason.. pound for pound, sound for sound.. this had ... something the others didn't. I really really like it.. One of my favs of yours soo far. You have ... a sense of urgency and ... like.. strength to your playing, that I feel is undeniable.
Secondly... I tried your tone, and ... I still didn't sound as awesome as you doo lol...

I remember reading some article about some guy picking up eddie van halen's guitar, thinking that it would sound and play just as great as it sounded, but when he did, he noticed he couldn't get that "Van Halen" sound.. and Eddie replied, "It's all in the fingers"

AND, let me tell you, you have the fingers! And.. something a little more..

I really respect you because you do it all.. bass (hehe kinda) drums and guitar, yet.. you are honestly comparable to a lot of the popular metal today.. in fact, I respect your work more, because you do IT ALL YOURSELF!!!!

I have been working on this a lot, but I have been really really really busy, I hope you understand, AND! I have a surprise for you, ... it involves vocals!

(BTW, I am thiiiirsty lol....)
