Actually a very good work for one VST. It feels like the beginning of a scifi movie or a thriller. Good stuff. Keep it up, make another one with one VST! :P

on Unseen ft Janis71 by mrwolf14
I feel like the mix is a little over-compressed for the feel I think you're trying to achieve. Maybe pulling it down a bit will help a bit.

mrwolf14 replied 7th Mar 2015 - 11 years ago
Good point…. I have reduced the compression.
I have also changed the drum kit to use one which is not so "over compressed".
Thanks for the input!

on this is from a long time ago dont judge me by TasteTetraMusic
The song is good, but I feel it could've varied up a little more in terms of the drum beat. Good stuff regardless.

on Mini Mix for the Funkiest Remix Competition by SHWAK
Good work with this one. Maybe trying to make your high hat a little more stereo instead of directly in the middle of the mix might help add a little more depth to the mix.

When converting to a 192kbps file, the size is usually between 3.5-6MB depending on the length of song. The file size limit for this site is 10MB :P I think it's worth the slight increase in quality :)

Modnex replied 1st Mar 2015 - 11 years ago
I agree completely. I'm going to export a 192 version right now and see if that makes any difference. The monitors I use for my productions, aren't the best for quality differentiation. So I may need some extra ears to give it a listen.

It's now updated.
Thanks for all of this :)

on Robotic Chaos by KingVortex
I love the way that intro vocal "vortex" sounds. So huge. Personally, I feel that there should have been like a splash or something to fill that little empty space at the very beginning in the big build. As the song goes on, it falls out of time. I think fixing this issue will really tighten it up. Good sounds, what kind of synth/keyboard/VST are you using? Definitely a unique song haha. Cheers!

on GoldenOokami - Satisfy - Modnex Dubstep Remix by Modnex
By the way, if you have the WAV file, maybe taking it to a conversion website (I recommend "audio.online-convert.com"), try reconverting it to a higher bitrate (I find that 192kbps works great) will improve the overall quality of this song. I can hear some of the lossiness of your current MP3 file, particularly when the high-hat is hit towards the 20 second mark.
Modnex
Modnex replied 1st Mar 2015 - 11 years ago
I tend to export my mp3 files at a 160 bit rate. I do this so I can upload the track on sites like this without the worry of going over the upload limit. If I ever need a higher bit rate for whatever reason, I make sure I have an exported version with a bit rate of 320kbps.

Do you ever have a problem with the limited space on here, when you export in 192kbps? If not, I think I will upload in that format for now on. Thanks for the help.

on while not asleep increment sheep by doudei
This is LOVELY. I find it is a very good background song for studying (which I am doing now :P) as it does not draw too much attention to itself - yet it has so much going on, when you stop to listen. Great work on this.

on Radio Illuminati Feat Oceanically Roses by radioilluminati
That voice is very captivating and intimate. Beautiful stuff. The guitar that comes in towards the middle is a little too synthesized for me; I think a real acoustic guitar would have greatly added some beauty to it but regardless. Beautiful stuff. And the piano is very warm and big. Good work on this.

radioilluminati replied 28th Feb 2015 - 11 years ago
Thanks, sure a real instrument would have been better. But I don't know how to play the guitar. It is a harp VST

Good stuff, LSD. I feel like the mix overall could use some more reverb at the start. A little too mono for my tastes, but then again this is not a final mix :P So far, so good! Keep it up!

on Sensuality by crucethus
I absolutely LOVE that juicy bass drum at the beginning. Slightly too juicy at certain spots, but does the job well. Beautiful synth work (it's so silky smooth to my ears!) and I enjoy the bassline, even if it "breaks" the rules. Truly, it sounds really pleasing to the ear. Good stuff cru. Sounds nice and airy, just like I like my music to sound :) Good stuff. Seriously.
crucethus
crucethus replied 2nd Mar 2015 - 11 years ago
juicy ehh? I'm glad u liked it. Originally the opening drums were very low in the mixbut I found that when I stabilized it to the rest of the song it worked better.

on Midnight Blue by AneemA
From what I can hear, the problem seems to be your harp and drums clashing. The drums are what sound to be MIDI loops, while your harp was tracked live without quantization. Quantization is what makes your track perfect, without any lag-time (unless that is what you'd want) so that the drums and harp would mesh. The issue is your harp falls out of time, because - and I'm just guessing - the harp was tracked live and the drum loop was a perfect, on-time loop. Maybe try to rerecord the harp with some sort of MIDI device? I think most keyboards can do MIDI now. Just a thought, and I could be wrong. I do like the idea behind this track. That harp is rather interesting and keeps my attention. Cheers!
AneemA
AneemA replied 27th Feb 2015 - 11 years ago
Thanks for your suggestion, Epic! I am actually not familiar with the use of MIDI, but the quantization I think I could make-do manually? As it is the drum loops, I might try to take it out and make the exact same beat (or maybe add and edit) it in the hope to match the other 2 sounds. That's what I guess I could do.

on do nothing by promenade2239
Idk why but it reminds me of a scene from an old CSI episode haha. I feel like some of the sounds could use a little more EQ to crisp them up a bit, but overall, I'm liking what I'm hearing.
promenade2239
promenade2239 replied 24th Feb 2015 - 11 years ago
thanks for the advice. Im using a lot of eq effect but my productions are not commercially-oriented at all, unlike yours. this composition is intentionally way too complex to become ok-commetcially-sounding just by tweaking some eq's. but I'll keep that concept in mind anyway when working on future songs.
the nice thing about this track is that you can listen to it very loud and still enjoy the natural dynamics of the instruments. basically the track presents the way I listen at the moment.
try work in reverse, whatever that means.

btw care to elaborate which sounds 'could use more EQ to crisp them a bit'? Otherwise your comment will sound generic, kind of very annoying looperman every-day comment.

thanks a lot for listening and some nice comments. A.

on Xyilent - Pluto by XyIlent
I've listened to this track again and I still gotta say its AWESOME bro. Good stuff. Personally, I find that maybe the piano could use a little more sustain? Just to keep it from sounding to midi-ish. Just my two cents :P Still an excellent song.
