Piano has improved a lot. I think for what you've got, you've done a superb job. Maybe work on the overcompression in the latter half, it pulls away some of the beauty and power of the mix because it goes from sound awesome to "oh gosh, thats really compressed" feeling for me. Keep it up, hope to see this one coming to completion!

You know, you could actually do video game music for a living. You obviously have a great talent for it, as demonstrated by this song. Have you thought about that? I wouldn't be surprised to see you go far in that field c:

Such a lovely piece. Your skills have improved so much! You capture the tension perfectly with such minimalism, something that a lot of producers have a heck of a time getting right. You nailed it! Great work!

"Your skills have improved so much!"

yeah slowly getting better haha, just been working at it. Ever since i started making my own synths its became easier to design a song based on what i have in my head, rather than make it as close to it as i can with presets and stuff, which has been awesome :D

"You nailed it! Great work!"

Thanks brando :)

Thank you! Not a big thing, the acid part brings himself, the other is mostly a few of Evisma's nice guitar loops with some background drums. I were like to add some another guitar track under it for a bit more complex sounding, but can't find suitable loops, so i gives it up. :)

Definitely gloomy but the guitar really has a unique sound to it that really sets the emotion :D Really feels like the dead are playing the song haha. The way the song kinda swings in and out of time really adds that dreamy, preternatural element to the song. Great number!

Cheers,

This track is built nicely, good instrumental but the first thing I noticed is the vocal is too quite. I'd say bring it up a few dBs to get it to take front. Overall, with a few tweaks this one will really shine! Keep it up,

Hey Brado. glad you enjoyed it. i think the final result is a bit more interesting. the sounds for the most part evolved for the better. thanks for checking it out. best regards - Dan
BradoSanz
The female's voice sounds big and compliments the music perfectly. Abstract and different but definitely stands on its own. Is that authentic whistling? I like how the song "feels" slightly off-key (or is it the vocal?) but ever so slightly off-key that it feels. Then good ol' Shamoozy's voice appears and while it sounds rather out there, it oddly works haha! I'd suggest you try to add a little more along side his voice to elevate the sense of change and differentiate the two segments a bit more.

Overall, very great job!

Hi Brado,

Thanks a lot for your comment. I think the female vocal sounds a bit different because it was recorded in E, while my track is in D. I had yo change a few notes manually, but left the rest as it was intended. I think that might add to the feeling that it's a bit different. And yes, the whistling is authentic. Took it as an acapella from looperman as well. The poster asked not to give credits, so I won't :).

And yes, a few tracks are slightly off key. I pitched the pads and repeated rythmic arp slightly up. The pad is also drifting a bit. And Shamoozey is all over the place as well :). Although I grew up playing the violin and was taught that on-key is the way, I really like the off-key feeling.

Many thanks for your suggestion. For some reason I never thought of having Shamoozey's vocal accompanied with a few changes in the other tracks. I'm sure that will work perfectly and it gives me a new goal for improvement.

Best, Doc

Thoroughly impressed that this is your first track! You're better than most at doing this stuff. Looking forward to your future works :)

And don't worry, I think I take the cake for most loops used in a song: https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/168513

The intro to this song is extremely powerful, but is a little more than a minor letdown at the start because the bass seems to disappear when the drums make their full entrance. Overall though, a powerful song that with a few tweaks could end up being a killer track.

An absolutely great song. All I think its missing is a strong memorable melody, as has been mentioned by a few others. But wow, your builds and drops are great stuff. The progression has a lot of energy that is hard to capture in the way you did. The only thing I think could use adjusting would be the snare, felt a little weak compared to the rest of the track and a slight buff might help the song feel stronger. Keep it up and I wouldn't be surprised to see you rise to the top in the future :)

on Touch Of The Irish Aka One For Ed by Orlando51
This makes me so hungry for a DAW again! I've been writing with just an acoustic as of late and while it's nice, I do miss seeing things come together in a way that is just as beautiful as this. This track is so dreamy and I can sense the Irish influence on this one! The pads are wide and nothing is over-driven, which I think is perfection. Sometimes abstract music like this really feels like a breath of fresh air. Thanks for letting me clear my head :)

The track sounds great, but the one thing that really irked me was the piano sounded very midi-ish. I'd suggest adding more sustain to help it flow better. Great work overall though.

Such a groove. I love it. The drums sound so crisp and up close, and I really appreciate that from a producer's perspective. The organ adds a nice flair to the song and the panning was appropriate. Great work on this. The guitar solo was a pleasant surprise!

Scott does the drum tracks and also the mixing, so he's quite particular about that aspect.

Lovely sound and unique atmosphere! I agree with danke that the vocals could be a bit louder and EQ'd a bit (maybe boost a bit around 750Hz and 3.5 KHz) to help the vocals stand out a bit more. Overall, very good song. Great job!

on Mile-Deep Island by Evisma
Love this one, Evisma. Your piano additions were lovely and really added a new element to this song and brought it to life. It sounded like the soundtrack from a Call of Duty game towards the second half, which is a big compliment as I love their music. The drums did seem slightly muddled and maybe not as present as they should be with this style, but they still did their job and filled in nicely. Maybe a stronger kick? Cheers, Brado
Evisma
Evisma replied 7th Mar 2016 - 9 years ago
Another BS comment. (Do they ever end?)

Good to hear from you! Glad you like this one! Piano was a joy to do, also the ending.

"...soundtrack from a Call of Duty game..."

I would have no idea. I spend about 2 hours a year playing video games. Something about it makes me feel like I'm throwing time down the toilet, or lighting money on fire. Seems a waste to me.

I'll do some EQing with the drums, maybe fix the muddling. Mostly, I'm after the cymbal in the middle section. I'll get that bastard! Interfering with the toms freq.

Thanks again!

The vocals work for this song. Perfectly. Have a haunting sense of being covered (the low-quality mic) but it only adds to the trippy effect of the song and only makes it more trippy. Great work!! I really like the panning instruments. So soothing to my ears haha.

Sounds like i made it just the way you need/like it :)
In a way all my music is a little trippy and with this Spinner VST you can create extreme cool panning sound.
Good to hear that you think that the vocals work but i believe they would also work if they where a little more "noise free" :)

stay tuned

Thanks BradSanz.... I am glad you like it and thanks again for listening. As mentioned in the description the drum loop came from B055MAN. I recognize that this was a hot drum loop and then added my piano, bass, and strings to it. So B055Man's drum loop gave me the inspiration to produce this piece.

on Real Love Feat Chris Scott by 7venth12
You got some professional mixing skills! The bass is large and present, which is something I will always appreciate. The only critique I have of this track is the bass seems to drown out the vocal out at some points, maybe bring them up a few tenths of a decibel? It's at the point where a bit more would help it stand out more. You could possibly give a little bit of edge to the voice and boost maybe 0.7dB around the 3.5-5kHz
