Everyone already said what I intended to say, so I can only admire your work and with the improvements mentioned being made, this song would be absolutely awesome! Starts off strong and just needs a few fixes here and there :)

on Alles was ich will - MDMA Mix by joecramer
Why do I find your voice so mesmerizing? I have no clue what youre saying and yet I'm still drawn to it. I really like the deep bass hit and the simple synth activity. A little bit of haunting with a big load of chill and dark :P

Great job,

Loved it from the get-go. 1:28 was probably my favorite part, with those scratches. It's a killer track you got here, very high-octane! Great work :)

Thanks! I was perusing my hip hop soundpool and wondered what it would sound like if I put record scratches in the drop, so I tried it!

Beautiful work. Quite unique if I may so myself. Catchy groove that has a very relaxing vibe about it. I dig your use of effects to enhance the overall feel to the song.

haha yeah that darth vader sound was supposed to emulate the sound of a life support machine because the beeping reminded me of it but i couldn't find the right sound and thats as close as i could get haha
thanks brando, glad you enjoyed :)

I really like the atmosphere of this one. Quite the emotional piece you have here. The start reminded me of what a dubstep song would start off as. Nice, large piano with lovely chord progression really was a pleasure to listen to.

on Rainso - Tonight Feat Nate Monoxide by zacvoos
Hey, not bad at all for heavy drinking haha. For not knowing what youre doing, I think you did a fine job mixing in those vocals. Sounded a bit harsh in the high end to my ears but that's nothing serious. Keep it up zac!

I may have fixed this in my rework. But I'm too lazy to check right now. I might upload a fixed version of this later if I feel like it. But many thanks for the compliment

You definitely show promise with your work. For being as new as you say, you're already sounding better than about 70 percent of the new producers on this site that I've listened to. Keep it up, you could go places.

on You believed in me Thank You by TeeGee1965
Wow, definitely a groovy song. That bass sounds stellar! How did you treat it in the mix? I'd love to know, as I seem to have trouble making my bass sit in a mix nicely. Great work!

TeeGee1965 replied 20th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
Thanks for listening and commenting :). You are not going to believe it, but on this track I basically did not do anything special- I basically ensured the bass is nice and loud in the mix. Other than some time corrections to ensure that the first bass note of every bar is bang on the click, I used a Maximiser plugin on the cubase 8 I am using, and I set the "Output" on 6 (maximum), the "Optimise" dial on 100, and clicked the option "soft clip". To explain, all I wanted is for the bass to be loud, I suppose I could have used a limiter/compressor combination, but I just tried this and it worked.

If you listen to the other two track I did with Bhunt here on Looperman, for the "Trailblazer" song I used a compressor/limiter to again increase the volume and make sure every note is heard, and used a preset on the equaliser called "Rock Bass". I did not tweak that, it worked straight out of the box. For the "Now I got it" I used a "Bassamp Vintage" amp simulater insert, and a "slow moderate" phaser - the equalizer was set again to the "Rock Bass" preset.

But the bottom line is: The single track s that I get from Bhunt are simply superb, other than increase the volume by compressing/limiting a little bit they don't need much. You are most welcome to contact bhunt1, see his link a few comments down, maybe he can tell you what effects he is using on his guitar before I get my hands on it :D . Cheers, TG

Oooh! I just came across this one while skimming through the featured tracks this morning! What a pleasant find! You two make quite the duo, as others have already said! I love what your daughter did with the chorus and the multiple voice layerings in particular! A lot of emotion in the track, great work with the lyrics! Catchy melody, great songwriting earns a fave from me :)

This is a good song! :D I like the guitars, ohhhh they speak to me! Love the mixing. The drums feel a bit MIDI-ish at parts, is that a plugin or something? Idk, some parts just feel a bit mechanical to me with the drum hits :) That vocal sounds killer though!

The drums are programmed using various virtual drum software. The band provided a nice detailed description of what was used for the song, I'll probably include that as well.

on Shayne Ward - Breathless - OffKi Remix by WongKiShoo
Crap, this is good! You should upload it to YouTube. People love remixes - and this one could get big! Extremely...Extremely professional-sounding. Like seriously dude! Look into buying a license to sell it! I know there are websites that work as a middleman and take care of the legal work for you, isn't very complicated if I recall correctly. I did that for my cover of "Come As You Are" by Crowder. Paid a small fee for a certain number of sells.

Hey Brado,

Really glad you think it's good enough to make money. As for trying to get it licensed.. The label that owns the original probably wouldn't give me the time of day as they're pretty huge. Simon Cowells label "Syco" to be precise.. I don't think they'd have any interest in licensing a song to me haha. But still, thanks for the props :D

I must ask, how did you get that deep, grungy tone with the bass guitar? Im still having trouble getting a satisfactory tone with a real bass guitar and tips would be appreciated. Thanks again, did not intend to double post!

on Backstabbers Harvest by Evisma
That guitar at the start is absolutely awesome. Something about steel guitar and delay that sounds really pleasing to my ears. You have a good knack for timing, which I know can be a bit of a challenge on a lap-steel (at least from my limited experience). At 1:35, that whole section was by far my favorite. Your use of the compressed drums and the guitar work really added a strong driving element. Even being picky, I can't really find any issues that I can critique haha. It's a well composed track, solid guitar work, catchy drum beat, excellent mixing and a solid idea. Great work, Evan.

Evisma
Evisma replied 14th Apr 2016 - 9 years ago
All great things to hear! Much appreciated.

Yeah, lap-steel is something else. I have it tuned to an Em add9 chord. Basically a power chord of 2 and 4 on the A and D strings. It's E-B-F#-G-B-E. Love that chord, but I've done this and Hypnoculars with the lap-steel in that tuning, so it's time to change.

Take care.

on carbon textures featuring Joe Cramer by promenade2239
Really cool editing you did on that voice. The subtle bassline seems to fade to the background and I really like that haha. Definitely a unique track, puts a great spin on the genre and breaks from the norm. How did you edit the vocals to sound that way (all chopped and sizzly)? I think that's my favorite segment of this track :)

Hi Brado
Thanks for nice comments! Cru is entirely right about this one being rather a Techno one - I used analog synths for making drums and bassline. I sliced the vox and used IL Gross Beat to process it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z-fQqBFQs8
Till next time, A.
