on FIRE-DRILL by Filaofsoul
Hello Filaofsoul,

Thanks for reviewing one of my tracks.

This tune you have here is pretty hot I think,
Nice sounding jazz type of track. Good organ playing and the rhythm really moves.
Great sound effects that go along with the title.

Sounds like you put it all together just right.
Good job.

on The Way of all Flesh by Planetjazzbass
Hello Dave,

Getting around to listen to some of my favorite artist on here...and your one of them.

I realize this is an older tune, but I wanted to hear it.
Sounds like a fretless bass...they are cool sounding.
You played it well on this one with all the sliding and some bending.

The background is fine, but I listen to mostly the bass as I play myself. So.....overall, great job!

Thanks Randy..yeah I like to pull out the fretless now and then..I really want to get an electric upright..I used to have an old dog house..but that was before the great acoustic pick-ups they have now.....thank you for the kind review..cheers mate

on forsaken by b5cully
Hello B5cully,

Wanted to check out one of your tunes again as I needed to get some reviews done before I get too far behind.

I like your music here. Has a nice slow moving effect in the beginning. I guess 'Chill Out' as far as genre, would be a good name for the song too.

Good production here.

on The Beat by DustSounds
Hi there Dustsounds,

Wanted to check out another one of your tracks.
This one has a nice fast steady beat and good sound effects going on. The use of Holly's vocals sound cool and haunting.

Keep up the good work and experiment more as thats how you get better and better.

on Synergy Comp - Til Sunrise by Falter
Hi there Falter,

Your on my list for reviewing a tune as you did one of mine recently.
This one has a good steady beat...I guess that is what house is. So many genre's out there, I can't keep track.
I just upload a Latin type tune and no genre for that. Amazing.

I like the variety in this tune. Very nice production.

haha it's always good to step outside the lines but with everyone trying to make their own sound these days its becoming very hard. but thats a fair enough interpretation of house. just something strong to dance to. anyway thanks for the review randy and ill be checking out that new track of yours now!

on Drive by blairrock957
Hi Blair,

Getting around to catch up on reviewing some tunes here for reviewing mine.

I like this song a lot. Has a good feel to it.
I'd say the voice is a little too bassy as it is a little hard to hear it clearly. Other than my opinion on that, it is a very nice song and well put together.

The car sounds came out very good. The crash at the end is sobering!

I just listened again the other day. Thought the same thing about the vocals. Should go back and adjust the EQ. Probably won't though. Thanks.

Hello Mandarrosa,

Checking out this tune here you put together.
Nice and relaxing and would be nice for background in some romantic movie I think.

The quiet parts would fit in very well. The buildup is very nice too.
Excellent tune you put together. Keep up the good work.

Hi there Butcher,

Just catching up on reviews and your on my list. :-)

I haven't listened to much hip hop as it isn't my favorite type of music, but I can tell that this is pretty cool.

Has a nice beat and good background stuff going on. A little horns and some vocals all adding in.
Nice job,

on Off My Mind Ft. Ryan Birnie by Fresco
Hi there Fresco,
I liked your song. The guitar is very nice and clear as it gets.
I have made some rock tunes...and heavy metal being my next to last tune....as I just now uploaded a Latin tune.

I use Pro Tool with Mbox 2 Pro in making all my tunes and plug in direct usually so I don't get any bleed thru.
I record all rhythm guitar parts twice. One in the left channel and one in the right channel.
This helps give a bigger sound.

Basically layering parts is how you get that big sound like my tunes have. Plus using Compression and EQ and Reverb tastefully and or Delay give nice effects. Plus there are many other tools that you probably already know about.

Your vocals sound nice, so I'd say your not too far off from making a great production. All your tunes need to be Mastered too by a professional so they are 'radio ready'.
Mastering 1 song doesn't cost that much...maybe $20. I do some myself, but it is better to have another pair of professional ears to listen to your tunes.
Take a listen to a couple of mine and see what you think if you have time.

Good job overall,
Randy

on Landing in the living room by majucarma
Hello there majucarma,

Giving you a review back here as promised. Pretty cool sounds you have here. The guitar part is interesting and certainly different than I have heard before.

Would have been nicer if it could have been a little longer and some more variety in it is all. Like my metal song, it had quieter parts that you wouldn't think would be there, but see how it kinda made the song......putting in breaks here and there, made it not all screaming guitar all the time.

So just a suggestion on putting stuff together for the future.

on My Printer by DustSounds
Hi there Dustsounds,

Getting around to review a track of your and chose this one.
I see you listened to the heavy metal track 7 times. That's cool, but probably would be better if you just downloed it and listened to it thru your home speaker system to get a better overall sound.

Anyways, I like the printer one you did here. Sounds like a typical dot matrix as I used to have one. Now a Deskjet that makes very little noise.

It's cool the way you incorporated the printer sound into your mix, and is certainly differently than anything else I have heard.
Overall, I think you did a clever job. Nice going!

Randy

Thanks, Randy!
It is nice to receive a review from you.

Actually this was a very old Deskjet printer.. I guess it sounded so loudly just because of its age. And, yeah, my new one is silent as well.

Unfortunately I dont have any proper speakers to blow my brains out with while listening to your track.. yeah.. downloading is a good idea, though.

Thanks again,

DustSounds

Hi there Seroksaty,

Getting around to review tracks from people who reviewed mine.

Good guitar work going on and nice steady drums.
Sounds like two guitar leads going on at once.
I think the fadeout was a little too long, but other than that, everything sounded great.
I am not into heavy metal tho...normally....but the tune I made for you was an exception.

Hello idude,

Just getting around to review a track as I promised since you also did one of mine recently.

The guitar playing is very good and you have good effects going on. I guess vocals would be a big plus here.

I'll have to hear more of your work, but this was was nice!

on Breathless by rei4real
Hi Rei,

Cool song here. Lots of 'gateing and effects' going on. Wouldn't know it was a guitar playing at all.
Great work in putting it all together to make it work seemlessly....which is often the hard part when messing with loops as I do.

Well, I like it and don't know the genre it would fit into except electronic I guess.

on Wait for Sleep by alkie
Hi Alkie,
Wanted to get a couple reviews in here of your tunes as you did a couple of mine recently.

I like the vocals as you have a nice voice. I think the voice could be brought out to the front more, and the easiest way to do that is lessen the reverb some.
I like the music as well and think the song was well written overall.

Hi Randy thanks for listening, i had a newer version of Drean Theater`s Wait for Sleep that i just uploaded today, since your reveiw reminded me that i hadn`t updated the track thanks again.Vocals are much more up front in this new version but i got some room hiss from layering my vox, hopefully i`ll pick up Izotope`s RX soon to fix that.

Hi there Butcher,

Say...do you realize this is the only track you have checked as Featured? Might want to re-check them all as 'featured' as you'll get more plays from the pop-up featured window.

Anyways, This is a cool tune and being your first one, it sounds good to me. Has a nice beat and interesting stuff going on. I like it.
Now I'll have to listen to one of your newer ones to compare.

Hi there Neil,
Strange things going on in your head there! Are you ok? :-)

It's cool to try out new things and toys. That's the way to make us all sound different and not listening to all the same typical sounds we are use to hearing everyday.

So I'd have to say it sounded good and refreshing, and keep on experimenting as it'll give me new ideas as well.

on Happy Poor Man's Casting by majucarma
Hello there Majucarma,
I see in your profile that your from Metz, France. I was there for nearly 2 years in the US Army, but moved to Toul, France after only a few months in Metz. That is where I met the Beatles in person as they weren't famous yet. I talked with George Harrison on breaks. Nice guy...they all were..

As for your tune here, I like the acoustic guitar all by itself.
It would be nice to add some bass and drums to it.
Nice job,
Randy

Hi Rei,
Well, checking out the Voices tune you recommended that you updated.
Staring out, the voices are strange, like little kids talking but a cool effect. Nice guitar sound, good background beat and the other instruments filling.
A lot of creativity I feel here. Are you sure your not from another planet visiting us? lol

Hi Rei,

Nice driving guitar right out of the gate! That's what I like...gets your attention right away. I guess this one deserves vocals too as it seems to be telling a special story.
Guess you wrote this last year before I joined, but it is a featured so it caught my eye. Good thing for that box or I'd miss a lot of good tunes such as this here.

Good overall mix Rei....all your tunes are good.
One thing I notice tho, in people giving you a review, they ask questions here about the tune, but you never answer back?

Take care man, you 'rock my world'!

on Emotions by DanielGtrman
Hi Daniel,

Nice acoustic sound. I love the acoustic pure sound. The guitars work together nicely. Perhaps vocals would be the next best thing for this tune. I like it a lot, but I can't sing...I don't even like my natural speaking voice. I always thought it sounded too high myself.

Nice job with this and will check out some of your other tunes shortly.

on Dave: Moose Of The Rain-Forest by mandarrosa
Hi Mandarosa,

Here I am checking out one of your songs as promised.
When the song started it sounded like a pin ball machine starting up. :-).

Then it got busy with a variety of stuff. Since it was pretty short, I had to play it a couple times.
Has a nice beat and chord progression. All the mix sounded even as you could hear all the instruments.

Nice job Man,

Seroksaty's Reply.................
Hi Randall,
I have troubles with kick drum and bass, i`m trying to fix it, but... on my speakers sounds OK.
Decent headphones could be a solution, i`ll check those you recommended...
=====================================================
I am not sure what drum kit you are using. If your using them off a keyboard, they won't ever sound 'real and natural'.
You need a good Akai type drum machine or get drum loops off web sites.
Loopermans site has many free ones, but for complete sounding sets, try this site as they do have some free download samples in each section. www.betamonkeymusic.com This is what I use.

It has a funny name, but the drums are the same ones you hear in my tunes...if you like that sound.
But I have also heard 'Drummer 2.0' is a good program so look that program up on the web. (Just Google it)

Hope this helps,
Randy
