on Mountain Wind (LC synths only vers) by DonnieVyros
This is very 1969 in a way..but they didn't have synthesizers that could make these sounds back then! lol.I guess it's that ephemeral hippy trippy vibe I'm getting..swinging glass beads and all that.....great stuff!..if you ever perform this, granny glasses and a ponytail are the uniform of the day...cool! cheers mate :)

Cooool! I dunno mate, they could have, because I read that back then (in the infancy of electronica) there was a division. Between actual musicians and scientific computer nerds. On either side you had alotta experimentation going on with sounds. Off hand, I couldn't pinpoint the exact year the soundfont I used was created, but I'm sure that it's creation came about via those experimental years.
As for performances, I'm going to try to keep my shows mostly PG (PG-13 at times & R if I do Rap stuff). So all are welcome in my eyes. Lates mate!

on Shake the House by Falter
Electronically based noises from the other side....I think...where did you get that wicked sound....it sounds like a synthesizer that's been bored out and oversized pistons inserted!.....very heavy and dominant..I'm not totally versed in House music...but this is liken a TRex....it takes no prisoners...cool work!...cheers planet

thank you very much!
thats what i was goin for! thats one thing that must be said for electronic music, when your instrument is the manipulation of sound waves in their rawest form the products you can end up with are limitless. (bearing in mind i am a rock musician at heart and play guitar and bass religiously =]). As for the noise, you pretty much summed it up, i hollowed it out to its base form and filled the holes with some good old fashioned distortion and bunch of other little tweaks, well worth the extra time spent. It's always rewarding to see someone who is not usually a follower of your genre have appreciation for your work, thank you again planet.
Take care,
TJ

A great tune!...these sort of numbers always go down well with an inebriated crowd...it's a rocker...and the singers got some great presence....haha..some of the change downs remind me of The Greatful Dead in a way......I would have loved to heard this live..way cool dude!...cheers Dave :)

The vocals are wicked on this..it's a cracker!...I really like the break ups..Initially I felt there was a bit of competition between the music and vocals because they are on similar frequencies..then with a few breaks..I could hear that crazy rhythm you've got going...very cool and heavy!...I've been thinking how you could separate the two more dynamically...maybe more breaks or more compressed musical interludes..whatever...this stuff is mean..I really dig it!...do you get a sore throat?..lol great work..cheers planet

on MrE Leap of Faith DVs Into the Darkness rmx by DonnieVyros
Hell if I had of given you a working brief that stated...."I want you to imagine a sound track that portrays black turn of the century mine workers toiling away in Stygian murderous conditions with overtones of industrial Hell"..you couldn't have come up with a better result...this is damn freaky...not that I can be scared easily..but it's easy to say sitting here reviewing from my comfortable computer chair...if I was down the mine and some joker put this on(not mentioning any names)..it would freak the hell out of me!....this track feels like 3 miles of rock bearing down above your head..it's quite intimidating 10/10 not for the faint of heart lol..cheers mate :)
DonnieVyros

It's funny that you mention that because just the other day I was watching 'October Sky' (I think that's the name) with Jake Gyllenhaal and the scene where they were down in the mine all hunched over kinda reminded me of what you said here. I think my vision when I was doing this was kinda trying to capture the feeling of standing on the edge of a giant precipice underground and the chasm would be so deep that it'd be pitch black. Then I remembered the 3rd Indiana Jones movie where he was on the final test (the leap of faith) and he had to try to walk across air over the bottomless crack. Oddly enough earth doesn't scare me as much as being really deep underwater. Anywho, glad ya dug it mate. Later on!

Ahh..I’ve just come over to see what all the fuss is about. Seeing as you’re very free with your critiques. Lets have a look at your own work…. I must say it’s very good, you have an exceptional ear for the subjective turn of phrase and an excellent grasp of production techniques which are first class, on a par with other good material from this site of the same genre, no better, no worse…. What bothers me though is that this is as good as it’s going to get for you, unfortunately your perceptive grasp of the medium has been diminished by your seemingly superior position that you place upon yourself, a shame really because in the real world of aesthetics self loathing which is the hidden reality behind superiority equates to a clouded outlook and an inability to expand beyond one’s own horizons…whether this self hatred stems from an unloved childhood it clearly has manifested itself in your opinion towards others. And probably is exacerbated by the feeling of loneliness that you are currently displaying…the music’s ok I’d work on your people skills a bit though…....planet

I absolutely do not feel superior to anyone. I have cultivated honesty and honesty does not bid well in a world contaminated with the very things you suggest.
I do appreciate you taking the time to make some comments and the things you say have been duly noted.
I do urge artists to reach inside, dig deep, and do great work. Work we are all capable of. If an individual cannot take a critique, and perceives critique to come from a position of superiority - then it probably points to exactly what you are talking about.
It is ok to not like a track - and in light of the review process - it is more than ok to say so. If you ask for a review - it is up to the reviewer to be as honest as possible.

Hey MrFila..nice to meet you....just when I thought this place was being overrun with young electronic hip hop dudes(not that there's anything wrong with that)....somebody walks through the front door and restores my faith in good musical appreciation!..lol...Love this groove,it's got all the snappy rhodes sounds and panache' of Miles Davis's 'Bitches Brew'...way cool and a pleasure to the ears..great work...cheers planet :)

on WHEN I AM GONE by RonGallagher
Wow..what a great panning lead....this is layered with that acoustic tracery of tinkling sound..there's nothing quite like the chimed resonance acoustic fingerstyle lends to a piece...it's why Crosby,Stills,Nash and Young were so popular...it has that universal appeal...the lead work is outstanding..I think this track is beautifully poised...it's a living breathing thing...marvellous work man..excellento!...cheers Dave :)

Planetjazzbass
Whoa..way cool!..this is as they say 'wicked'..I love that bass like synth phrase supporting everything..and your using Holly's voice as an instrument not an inclusion..which is where it's at as far as I'm concerned....Haha..I have to laugh when you ask for any suggestions..I sort of feel silly if I don't offer one..Hmmm..ok here's one (the composition music, levels ,mix are great)..I don't like the song title! It's too middle of the road..I feel it's not up to your usual standard of Gizzardness...be more adventurous..take control of the situation!..lol excellent work..cheers Dave :)

hi planet ;]
thanks very much. i took your wise advice as you were absolutely right about giving that song such a quick and unthoughtful title..so "soul of Apollon Musagetes" is the new official title.

thanks again.

Aahhh..I really dig this one...I can see those fingers of yours are starting to quicken their pace over the keyboard..great stuff!...you could line a hundred guitar samples up and one of your own and play them for two seconds...I'd know yours in a nano second..I love your guitar work..it's very individualistic and that's the best you can be!...cheers on another outstanding track...Dave :)

Beautiful intro...then straight into a brisk canter..it's very hard to produce work that people can immerse themselves in and thoroughly enjoy,it takes planning, projection and ability..it's not some fly by night undertaking...you've created a whole world here with visual imagery, pageantry the works....outstanding!..cheers planet :)

The piano is a trifle unsynchronised...but I can see where you want to go......sometimes the ambience of a piece is predicated by the intent of it's creator and not necessarily by it's component parts...I think that's why this works..you've got the touch for atmospherics..cheers planet
