Excellent satire and mind provoking stuff or even brain manipulation as you say. In terms of your music there's at least a bit of halloween even after and before actual halloween, but then again it's in the life itself, isn't it?..^^
Ha ha, yes my friend, I see what you mean about Halloween. I used to spend most of my time in that state of being. Possibly it is what has diminished the holiday itself within my life. Then there is the cultural bias that it is a holiday for children, which was forced upon us in youth.
As I mentioned to toastedavalanche in the previous comment, I needed to contemplate the idea of satire a bit after reading the comments which were coming in on this track. Since it was not my intention, it made me curious. There really was no mocking in my intention, but simply adjustment of spoken words to serve my literal purpose. Is that satire? I don't know for sure, still.
Thank you for listening to yet another of my odd songs!
Very dark tone indeed and it certainly has it's share of halloweenish atmosphere. I think that hypnotic monotony does the trick. Very extraordinary and creative as always! Well done Joe!:)
Thanks Orlando for your friendly comment.
This track is only a try on what i could do with some new (free) vst's i got. So i produced just a (kind of a) dark pad, added a cool trap beat and looked for some lyrics i had who fits to the sound. recorded the vocals and mixed it all together ..... out came this track that fits in a way to this Halloween forum threat from Cru.
Good to know that you think it work.
Wow man...this is fabulous, outstanding...this is probably one of the best, if not the best cinematic tracks I've heard here. So much good taste from start to finish and the artistic balance between vocals and instrumentation is superb! Huge favourite !
Aww thanks man. I had some trepidation about adding the vocals. It's so hard to get the balance right and I didn't want them to detract from the music. I'm so glad that you feel they work. Thanks again for your positivity.
Wonderful move Steve to pay a tribute to one of the greatest musicians around here (and there) with this kind of musical idea. You deserve big compliment for that. I'm proud and honored being able to make collabs with someone of Ed's caliber and to enjoy a great friendship. You Canadian boys are really special..:)
I'm not good at defining genres, but I guess this is a bit of both. Anyway to me that's not the most important. more important is that you managed to create very nice mood which I like alot! It even goes to 'favs'...:)
" Some field recordings from the local farmers " was the most epic part from the description and I just knew that a good portion of entertainment
is awaiting. Silverman said that he never knows what to expect...well, to a certain degree I could share his statement, yet my predominant feel is that I always know what to expect cause you never fail to deliver all sorts of goodies in your trademark fashion...creativity, inventiveness, extravaganza, healthy dose of craziness and sarcasm with loads of entertaining spirit. I'm enjoying this immensely while you're
only confirming your legend status here on Looperman.
I can think of very few received comments which were quite this positive and encouraging, and I thank you for it. The list of qualities which you expect from a song of mine - "creativity, inventiveness, extravaganza, healthy dose of craziness and sarcasm with loads of entertaining spirit" - they give me a lot of hope that I succeed in my intentions. It doesn't get much better than that!
Since these field recordings were open air and crowded, they are not prime in any way, yet they still add some atmosphere and interest to an electronic song. I'd love to have better equipment for this sort of thing. My digital recorder is much better suited for small rooms. It does also seem good for EVP recording as well, since I picked up one of those in the local clinic waiting room.
I appreciate you stopping by to listen and to encourage!
reminds me of a great tune from Judas Preast...Sinner.
Rob sings: "The Sinner is near, sensing the fear
And the beast will start movin' around
Can't you see their souls calling out in their brain
Can't you hear their blood is boiling setting them alight" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrdEuEWBIFQ
great tune, any how thanks for the nice words my friend.
Steve
It seems I'm the second one after our friend Silverman who smnells the reminiscences of Kraftwerk, although I'm completely taking in regard your explanation that the similarity wasn't intentional. Great work again Joe and it seems you'll be developing it further and maybe it even emerges on one of your future albums...I'm really holding my fingers cross for you to achieve that goal..:) Fave for this one !:)
Thanks for your nice comment and the fav Orlando.
May your crossed fingers bring me happiness
Good to know that you could enjoy the listen.
All I tried was to create an unusual mix between lyrics (a socially critical challenge to think) and music (a relaxed offer to dream and chill). And it turned out that it worked well.
Actually, it is not like Kraftwerk but somehow a little as in the spirit of them.
Been away for quite some time now and I'm not even back for real yet but at my first peek I ran straight into this extraordinary ambience and I can clearly see that you did not forget to compose very very special things! Huge compliments for this one my friend !
Not been around much myself mate.
I like the basis of this number but it sounds awful on my speakers only good on the headphones.
I posted it and removed it and altered it a number of times last night or in the wee hours of the morning because I can't seem to get personal satisfaction from it.
So .... it might get deleted again tonight while I mess about some more.
Cheers my friend.
As a gift from heaven, my friend ! It's hard to find the words to describe this pure beauty and all has been said by others. I can only agree with them. We don't hear that kind of gems every day. Fantastic vocals and interpretation...very deep and emotional! This is a masterpiece of rare genius ! I'm hardly waiting for some more !:)
It's getting really dangerous.....the declaration of war has never been so funky...and yes, the level of eclecticism undoubtedly brings us to something that could be called "prog"....elegant departure from your usual "pop" stuff (at least half a joke)....and it's done so well as we are already used to....consistency has become your undeniable quality and that's so great to feel !:)
Welcome back my friend....so good to hear you in your top form within your primary music genre music genre....as always very energizing and uplifting...Thanks alot for sharing !:)
To me this really defies categorisation...and who cares anyway. Creativity and inventiveness is in full motion once again. It's also very entertaining, so I Wish you alot of fun in further development although it's perfectly nice as it is !:)
Hi there Orlo!
It has been fun.
As is pretty obvious I've got this thing about rhythm at the moment.
Mixing up three four genres gets me what I'm looking for.
Bouncing around in my chair putting this together.
It's changed quite a bit since I cleaned it up.
Thank you as always.
It seems I've missed this one before, but better late than never. This really can't be anything else than Spivkurl's trademark extravaganza and it's always almost unexplicably entertaining and this aplies to this one as well ! Thumbs up !:)
Hello Orlando, thank you for taking a listen to this one, which is getting older by the minute!
I've been re-featuring quite a few tracks lately for some reason. I actually have several new songs created. I think that the horribleness of life has become so overwhelming that I have lost my will to do things... it all comes down to simple survival, defence, and feeding my family. I know that at some point, this studio oriented phase in my music will be over... I know I will have to be on the run, and that does not lend itself to building complex instruments or having room to use them.
I'm very happy that you enjoyed this song, as it still is one of my personal favorites, especially within the genre. My anger knew no bounds at that time, as it seems to lately. I am just learning to control it for fear of jail time, or at least to direct it inwards.
