Just loving the flute, then awsome guitar comes in. Great Bass too. Just my personal taste but wasn't crazy about the part with the bells at the start. The bells around the 4 min. mark were good though. Nice drum work too. Bells good at the end too. For some reason I just didn't like them at the start. Well great track. Love your songs.
Blair
jazzy and rappy. i like this track its chilled out and smooth. makes me wanna play some trumpets. i get what your trying to do. this is a poets song. your reciting poetry to some jazz hell yeah i like it.
Been waiting for the final of this. Very nice. Vocals, guitar, everything. Very mellow and sweet. Kind of a jazz feel to the whole thing now, instead of the starting one style then switching like before. Hope I'm remembering the right song. If your scratching your head going, What. Then I confused another song. Like it.
thank you Fred,
saw that you´re living in Paris so i´m not surprised that you know Erik Satie......i feel like someone who ask a German if he knows Ludwig van Beethoven
cheers,PC
Slap said it!.....Frank Zappa would love this track it has some of his irreverent humour and pathos wrapped in super proficient cool playing..the melody bubbles to the surface and surrounds and uplifts a great vocal performance.....I think this is the exceptional musician's gift..being able to play and also have enough peripheral control to almost act like a dandelion on the breeze...shimmering and shifting.....it's got to be cosmic!....cheers planet
damn you this is a hot track those lyrics are perfect matchin to that beat and everything else awesome mix! I can imagine listenin to this in another tony hawk ^^
Hey Robert.....I'm reviewing this track again as I was listening to it on my player, while walking through some wetlands birdwatching the other day.....what's great about this arrangement and the playing on it is that it pays respect to the original melodies without being dismissive of them or replacing the fundamentals of the song...I was thinking of the Carpenters and wondering how they would react....I think they would love it!......It is a very uplifting piece..very happy and fresh without the slightest hint of worry......There's one other cover song that I love that reminds me of a similar but totally different approach musically..Miles Davis's version of 'Time After Time' by Cindy Lauper........cheers dave
thanks again Dave,
this track was one of my favorites when i was a teenager, first love affair etc..............than i had a look on you tube watching this old clip done in the 60s with that singing woman playing the drums.........i love it....."why do birds suddenly appear...every time you are near......." so i totally can imagine that you´v listened to the track while walking through some wetlands birdwatching and having lots of memories of past events maybe ....i take this for serious and never could destroy these feelings i had although it was along time ago........basics of our youth ........
but now "You´re Under Arrest"......since 1986 waiting for rescue....i also love this Miles track
those drums are the bomb, they sound live live and i really love the offbeat accent on the snare it sounds like something from a doctor pepper commercial lolz or like waiting room music
thank you very much Steve,
this is no standard,Mos´ReQest told me it´s old skool, but i´v no idea what this all really means......sorry my English,i can´t understand all details......nevertheless i feel flattered...
Regards,Robert
The beat is wicked. Real nice. This is really a great track. Stuff going on on a bunch of levels. Like the whole thing, Keys etc.. But my favorite part is the beat. It just does something for me.
Blair
If I had your musical skills I could die happy......love the way you've used her own voice as a backing with herself(MU Voice?)...even when your playing in a more conventional time signature you make it sound special...quality through and through making this a hit!.....a piece that has broad appeal and should be gracing the airwaves around the globe........downloading now....cheers planet
Country- Perhaps not the direction you were thinking, but for a moment I could almost hear twangy Guitars playing along with her. Tic-toc...
Sarah Mclachlan- Towards the end of the first play I was taken back to a memory of hearing her one big album from a few years ago. I'm thinking that this would fit this the best because currently it has all of those elements working for it. Then again, that might be expected/predictable. So if not that then...
Alt-rock- In the stylings of Coldplay, The Fray, Sara Bareilles, etc because the way it's crafted now it could also easily go that way. To give it a twist I'll say...
Soft Industrial- To pick up and accentuate the mood of the lyrics. Placing a musical representation of what she might be feeling through heavier notes and dancier drums. Adding an electrical sharpness (through effected Guitars or synths) to contrast the soft and fluffy vibe it gives off now. I mean, if her soul is crying then why would the music be smiling? From there we have my last pitch...
Blues-Jazz fusion- Another route you could take since her vox are seemingly perfect for it. I'm at a loss as to what the mix ratio could be between the blues and the jazz, but I'm thinking with the lyrics again, it should slightly teeter-totter back n forth between the 2.
Or, I dunno. I'm just throwin out the first thing my mind's catcher puts up. So. I look forward to hearing the final product of this. Good luck, have fun, and later on!
hi Donnie
first of all thanks for plenty detailed critics and given inspirations.........you´re a special listener with lots ideas and advice for a musician.....this time i took the Blues-Jazz-Fusion Route.....as always.......but the Soft Industrial remark nevertheless sounds very interesting because it was the first impression associated by the vocals
cheers,PC
Beutiful piano work. She has excellent vocals. A great piece. When it switches from the piano to the elec. keys it almost goes from a ballad sound to a jazz sound. Great song.
