hello. I just had a chance to listen to some of your works on here and really enjoyed the orchestral pieces. this one has very fine relaxing kind of vibe too. simply keep producing.
Spectacularly brilliant!! I nearly cried! Any mixing issues that might be present are greatly overshadowed by the raw beauty of this tune. Well done, you!
Love & Light,
Mykael
P.S. I would love, love, love an opportunity to work with you!
I think an album of your last few songs uploaded on here could be quite popular and enjoyed by quite a range of people.
This sounded good within the first line or two. Backing vocals work well.
1:06 has a lot of noise on it. Not sure why. Same at 2:47.
Yes, there are a few plosives and lip sounds to iron out so perhaps need to re-record some lines.
Track is very quiet though I guess that's OK for a gentle one like this.
Not a whole lot more for me to say as it's such a sparse track. I'm sure it'll improve so good luck with that and I look for ward to giving feedback on additions and improvements.
Cheers - thanks for feedback D. Just wrote words on a sheet, played piano once thru and sang 4 times across it this afternoon - so lots to do - glad you like it so far :)
A very unique track. Dorian mode, eh? It worked really well and I also liked the use of a drone-like orchestral backdrop. I thought it was really effective. Not your standard fare for Looperman, but then none of your tracks have been run-of-the-mill efforts. You also seem to be able to find very promising acappellas, or perhaps you just know how to make them into something that sounds special. I'm really glad I discovered these tracks. A bit late to the party, but at least I got here!
hi, this is really good and I am enjoying a lot the song... For me the background vocals (aaa..., uuuu... etc) are a bit too loud as well as the overdubbed vocals. And I think it's because that the piano has some quite long reverb: it sounds far although the vocals are close and intimate... The 'cinematic' orchestral strings are also 'too much' (for me): I suggest you to replace them and add some single violin part or something to keep it 'acoustic' The song is great and you could make it just with the (close recorded) piano or guitar and it will sound fine like this. Or give some more ambiance to the voice parts which sounds better with far piano and orchestra. But I think it is still very well done as it is now... Nice work and great vocals! Greetings, A.
Hey thanks - yeah - all done today so work in progress and not really mixed it yet. Originally had a drier piano (Bosendrfr) but sounded a bit hard - will tweak.
OK, now you really must tell me. Is that you singing? And, did you do the lyrics as well as the melody? The song sounds so familiar, which to me means that it hits home. I know this was a test of a new mic and that you wanted to keep it simple, but I do think the levels could have been higher overall. I know that you have a tendency to post remastered versions of your tracks. I can see doing a bit more work on this one, but I don't think this needs a full-blown orchestral accompaniment. I think it is much more effective simple and relatively sparse, so the focus is on the voice and the words.
Matt, I assume that's you doing the singing on this track? Sounds really good. I like the simplicity and your (usual) excellent orchestration. You get much better results that I do with orchestral arrangements. It can't just be that you have better sounding VSI's that I do. That being said, this is one track where I wish you'd uploaded the acappella because I might be inclined to try an entirely different backing track for the vocals. Not sure what, exactly, but there's a mellotron in there someplace I think! :)
Another really nice track, Matt. I like the fact that you combined and EDM/pop arrangement with some orchestral elements throughout. People have commented that my tracks tend to be a bit spartan, although that's never been my intent. This track sounds really good to me with a variety of layers/textures coming in. I also try not to get too much repetition in my arrangements and I like that fact that you've been judicious in that department as well. I'm never sure whether to repeat a hook, or just let it be. I think you definitely got the right balance with this one.
Hey, Matt. I missed this track when it was first posted, but discovered it today after I heard your latest (very quiet) track. This is really fine piece of instrumental work. I'm am very impressed. You have woven in various orchestral instruments really nicely. I particularly liked the oboe, which is one of my favourites. I felt that the fade out ending wasn't entirely satisfying, but that's my only quibble. I must now listen to your other tracks since it appears I've been missing something really good for too long! :)
This is terrific stuff! The intro is lovely with the acoustic and the strings playing that very nice line over it. The piano works so well too - just sits nicely in the track. Great percussive bass line and tasteful percussion parts. It all interweaves so well. I am only listening on my headphones so maybe I'm not getting a true picture of the mix but your vocal might just be a tad forward but apart from that I can't fault it. You've spent some time double tracking your voice and the phrasing is perfect. Great job.
Hey thanks Richie - appreciated the tips. You're right, I think it was getting a bit hyper on the last mix, so I tried another today which is a little calmer and truer to the original. Stereo image perhaps a bit simpler too - but it's great getting so much feedback, as my monitors are only one pair, and tricky to get it sounding universally great without loads of people having a listen.
Also, I think I get to the limit of all the VST instruments' shortcomings - if I push the mids too much - as I can't afford a real orchestra just yet :)
I'll probably put the DL on soon, if anyone wants it, when I'm happy - but thanks again and really glad you like it.
"Yours always sound rich, do you export to 44k 128 direct from the DAW or convert the 24-bit WAV separately?"
Unfortunately, I have to have a lot of tracks on here at 128K, quite simply because they're so long that that's the max bitrate I can upload at. With 128K I get something like 10:55 running time so my tracks above 11 mins (quite a few) are around 10:50 on the site.
Not sure if my WAVs are 24 bit (how lazy, I should really know) but I do the MP3 conversion in a free program called CDEX.
I still think most of my stuff sounds pretty decent at 128K.
No idea about LM reconverting on upload or not.
This mix is a bit better again and it's just overall a good track, even if it's not a preferred style of mine. Vocals definitely better and the first "There's only now" is probably the vocal I like the most.
Not so keen on "cool breeze on your body" probably due to the "body" lyric more than the delivery. Oh, and "body" seems to be delivered with a slight American accent, which is slightly incongruous.
Definite radio stuff and I don't hear much to fault here. Oh, the bass right at the end gets prominent at 2:56 but then doesn't seem to come to a proper conclusion. Sounds like it's missing another half, maybe whole, bar of playing. Minor point that maybe no one else will ever mention...
Nice one man, love acoustic guitars so right from the beginning I was interested. Thought the strings were a good choice. The song has a "soft" feeling to it, meaning there are no rough edges or any hard, bone jarring sounds, everything sort of blends together nice and easy. Mix is fine, I think I missed the original. Pretty cool track, dig it!
Right, this is my third attempt at reviewing this track because my connection keeps cutting off and i'm getting infuriated with it. I'm going to do away with the long review this time and just say that i enjoyed listening to this track. You've hit the bullseye with this one (so good i'm on my third listen) FR
(usually LM website crashes on me and I end up writing reviews in Word, saving often, and then pasting them in - effing computers...)
Means a lot you like though as your stuff is very impressive, especially as mastering on house tracks is so tricky and you're spot on with that stuff.
Think I might have over compressed this last one as it sounds loud, but a bit mushy on headphones since last week, but still tinkering...
Anyway thanks. And again, that section 2:45 to the amazing kick at 3:15 on Series of Riffs is a fantastic groove - please do something with it - really took me back to the Mandy days :))))
hey thanks. Done it. It's better I think, you're right, with a bit more compression and bass, but some folks tell me to compress less to let the signal have more range...hopefully a good balance now, but tricky as peoples monitors vary.
...it's why feedback is so great - you get to find the sweet spot :)
Love the instrumental. Vocals are nice and laid back.. they could do with a little more in the way of EQ and effects, but other than that good job man!
WKS
PS - if you like, I'll help with mixing in the vocals a bit better. Just get in contact if interested :)

Brilliant just bloody brilliant...have to get that stunning feeling what you show with your piano play and with your? voice...
Bit like Nick Cave cause the low tone and this is awesome...
No matter about the mix...:-)
Much respect, Danke

loving the strings on this loop or plugin?
very similar to the band "the national"
yo bass needs to be clearer which you could probably do with some EQing and a little compression when you master it
some very ideas..
Keep 'em coming brother
