I recall listening to the first version Maff...dont recall if I faved it but I sure am going to fav this one...for a whole lot of reasons...starting with the depth of lyrics...your really pleasant vocal delivery (I`m reminded again of Brian Ferry)...accompaniment that is wrapped around the vocal..really well done and not intrusive on the vocal...The nice production values and those little extra vocal bits that add space & variety....So, I guess that in my mind makes the whole thing just a really good song...Just an excellent job Maff...Bravo.....Ed
Not quite happy with the second verse and the master is still a bit 'harsh' somehow, so I want to try and smooth it off a bit, without flattening the dynamics by over compressing...such an art... esp when it comes out as an 8MB MP3...but your kind words are wonderful encouragement!
It's basically there I think, just need to give it a rest for day or two and come back to it fresh.
well....you should to be happy with this one Maff....a bit short & sweet...but its got the goods intended I think...We dont all have the same taste in music just as we all dont like the same kind of art...but I liked this one...piano and strings always get my ears pleasantly perked..dm good singer too...good job...Keep doing it your way......Ed
Maff...I love your musically creative mind my friend....Its not the kind of thing our commercial radio stuff is going to bring us...proof that real creativity resides in these little musical communities we share...Kara has a really nice voice...I have done a couple of collaborations with her (not posted here)..but the effects give this a whole different vibe...kind of mysterious...a big well done to you...this is really neat.....I see you have another new one up since last time I was by..have a bit of catching up to do....Ed
Brilliant work and so melodic...didn't know if some percussion towards the end would have added to the mood, but that's me, I tend to throw to much in!!! but a real good track.
There would probably a thousand things to write here, but what I remember mostly is what you have done. This is quite awesome.
There are all the ingredients for a good track .... and I know whereof I speak.
You may redo it again, but keep the frame of this musical history, It's important .... This is just my humble opinion of course .... Good luck.
This is a very good production to me. The drums are nicely EQ'ed with the right type of punch for this style of music. Very good mix. Vocals are clean and when the guitar came in it was the right time for that particular instrumental coloring to inhance the momment. Ending repair, and it's ALL GOOD. PEACE. THE MACK MAN OUT. iF IT AINT BROKE WHY TRY TO FIX IT.
" it's the obvious thing to do in a way...but it doesn't do it justice and makes a good thing dull."
Well, I'm glad we agree. I took a slight risk of offence writing that as you might have absolutely loved this version.
If I were a record company boss I'd probably say go with the MOR version.
Damn, just realised you've reverted back to the original so I can't comment on the longer one.
Anyway, the record company would say do the longer MOR version, make a video, have some hot women fawning over your suited lead singer, people get their lighters out and sway and all that.
But, you've got an opportunity to do something unexpected with this. Just through you choice of music over those same vocals.
First off: make the longer version groove a lot more. You'll probably do some sort of electro pop funk though I'd prefer to see a bit of edge. Make it slightly rougher and darker and edgier and it could stand out as something quite different.
I think the 2 min version sort of does everything you need for its vibe and then the other 3.5 mins didn't add anything, just sort of plodded along.
Give the extended version some real balls and people will probably enjoy the surprise.

This is very distinctive work. Probably mostly because of that vocal.
Zplane Vielklang is a hell of a name. Never heard of it before.
With the lack of movement in this (that's not a complaint) this seems quite long enough.
I find this more haunting than dark. Meditative too. I like the end where you remove the ambient beds.
Can you link me up to the original track the vocal is from?
Lots of people will enjoy this, as you shall soon find out.
Well done.
