It would be great if you would roll of some top end form that vocal reverb to make it less shinny and smoother, it would work great. Or just use a mono delay set to around 160miliseconds (ms) and mix it underneath the lead vocal, for ambiance use 2 short delays one around 170-190ms and panned to the left and the other around 210-240ms and panned to the right. This combination will give you depth and a sense of space while being really subtle. YOu can also mix and extra stereo delay but longer underneath to give it a bit more vibe. Just some technical tips cause from a musical point of view it's amazing!
Cool track Mark, mix is really clean, big and bright! I dig delays so the gits were just right. The pads are a nice touch too, they can really fill space subtly and add so much depth. Vocals are sounding great too, sitting in the mix perfectly!
Strong emotional and extremely well played track guys. I really dig the guitar in here. Great tonal quality and beautiful articulation. Well done on the lyrics and vocals MW. Ratbeck rules man ! Looking forward to the next release fellas.
Danke,
TY. Yes things are good.
And ty about the acoustic work...I use a 1995 Takamine Santa Fe Dreadnaught acoustic.
I used 2 rhythm acoustic tracks. On the first track I mic'd the acoustic. On the second track I used the onboard pickup without mic'ing. On the second track I also used a capo on the 5th fret to give the chords a second, layered voicing.
The lead guitar acoustic work was done with the onboard pickup to give it that extra "springy" presence.
Glad you enjoyed my old friend. I hope things are well with you also.
Mark.
Hey bro, by chance have you ever listened to much old Alice Cooper? I guess your guitar playing here reminds me of Coops earlier stuff. Glen Buxton and Michael Bruce were excellent guitarists. Its a solid track and I really dig the nostalgic feel of it. A guy in one of the bands I actually played my first gigs with was really into Cooper and he used to drive us crazy in practices playing Cooper albums to get us to pick a song to work up. I took a liking to the music and he and I worked up a song called "You Drive Me Nervous" from the bands "Killer" album. We always got a lot of requests to do it after we started playing it.
Neo,
Yes I've heard a lot of Cooper over the years and he def had some awesome guitar players in his lineup.
I cannot discount the fact that my style could have been influenced by some of his songs. I have often called my style a mishmash of many influences and many styles.
TY for the listen. I have submitted this song to a local FM radio station for air play and it is actually being considered!!! Woohoo! Even just being considered for air play after being a musician for my whole life is a huge score for me. Waiting for the yes/no answer (which could take weeks) is gruelling though lol. Hoping.
Mark.
Perfectly performed! Sounds levels are cleaned, tracks mixing is really good.
The natural hoarse of your voice bring to this song an aditional color of rock genre (i don't know if the meaning of my words is correct, sorry for that :))
Really good work, congrats! took real pleasure in listening to this one
Kyle,
TY and sorry for the late response.
Yes this has always been a personal fave but it needed some modernizing. I tried playing it this way when I was a worship leader and the congregation were like "huh" lol. It worked out better for me this time ;)
Thanks Brother,
Mark.

Yes she did ty. The chorus has become a personal anthem for me. It' s a well written song but the what would you expect from the likes of Kris Kristofferson? It's a good reminder to take life slow and not let it overwhelm you like it can. It felt so real when I was singing it too.
Mark.
