Man, I love this one! So creepy and classical at the same time. The percussive elements remind me of something flamenco or gypsy or tribal. The intervals have something special about them as well.
Your response - "i will just keep taking the drugs and hope for the best with these tracks" was interesting to me. I will refrain from being invasive about it though. I do have a deep interest in the connection between musical endeavors and the drugs which seep into them. The song I am working on at the moment, for example, is highly influenced by Gymnopilus which is something mostly new to my palate. I have learned a few important lessons from this fungal ally in the week I have known it.
It is obvious from this piece that your mixing skills are becoming well honed! It sounds great in all ways. The stereo field is deep, the volume balance is awesome, and it is very dynamic. Songs like this make me happy. I have seen a lot of movement away from the loudness wars in the past year, and I'm loving the sonic depth I'm hearing from so many artists.
How is your website going? I must admit to not visiting very often, since it seems that the technical side is somewhat incompatible with my combination of Firefox and Linux, I always have trouble with something. Keep in mind that it is not just your site, many websites are not very compatible. I can't even read an eBook on amazon or watch a streaming movie on Netflix. I would like to get involved with the music for art movement again, since it is an inspiring process.
Thank you for sharing this very cool music! Faved! Thank you for the download as well! Have a good day!
Again, another collaboration with a real talent.
Slow to start, builds with interesting progression.
Love the kick...
Nice track.
Well done to you both.
Hey Midi nice n spooky intro followed by interesting arp sound. All in all avant garde sounding piece lays out a story in its path which i enjoyed greatly. As the great Robert Burns said in Tam O Shanter " Weel done cutty sark " You have your own sound which is a very good thing i.m looking forward to more from you. well done best regards Robbie.
thanks Robbie. have had some creative/life inspiration from a new acquaintance lately. I am grateful if I have achieved something of a unique style. I would like to keep the music accessible on some meaningful levels as well - that is the overarching goal these days. Thanks again for checking things out. Dan
I find this to be a really fun sonic exporation of your subject matter! Genre does not matter greatly, and this is one that shouldn't be "boxed up."
I'm enjoying the playful vibes of the bass lines, and the gentle rhythms. The mixing so far really lends itself to this sort of instrumentation and composition.
As someone who has been sharing life with a "bruja" for a long time, I can definitely feel some associations in your song.
I suppose that the only reservation I have with this one is in the synthesizer sounds, but it is only a personal and subjective thing. The sounds have a "played out" feel to my ears, like they are sounds which have been in so many songs throughout my life, that I tire of them. It is nothing said about how you have played the sounds though, as your playing and composition is awesome as ever! Like I said, it's just personal. If I didn't feel this way about a lot of things, then I wouldn't go out of my way trying to make new sorts of instruments.
I enjoyed the song a lot! Definitely a fave! I'm looking forward to hearing where it goes if you collaborate!
Hey Dan, I have to say this one gives off of a jungle vibe. I feel like I'm in a futuristic jungle located in space while listening to this one. The sounds were all chosen wisely and work great together. Your description is an interesting one and I can hear those emotions being expressed within the track.
I don't know jungle. Gonna look into as inspiration for the effects. I stuck to patches in Sytrus. Seems I have better luck combining patches off the same synth. Glad u enjoyed Modnex. Thanks.
Happy I'm the first to review this one for you, notice you have it under weird but to me it has a chill type of vibe with a touch of weird :), nice change up everything seems to work well to achieve what you were saying in the description, hope you have been keeping well my friend...Peace n respect...mosaic...
It's good to hear from you, Mosaic. If I got a bit of chill in this one I'm glad. Trying to collab on this one now with mindheist for special effects. He is in Houston though and I am waiting to hear that he is ok. Tx for positive feedback. Regards Dan
This is very cool. Lots of fun sounds that work together. I agree with the vocal mix maybe being too low, or perhaps benefiting from an exciter to wake it up in the mix. lately I sidechain and duck my instrumental bus by .5 to 2 decibels and I'm often surprised by how much I can duck it to make space without making it obvious. You both did a very nice job here. Good on it!
I'm surprised that the vocal seems under-emphasized. That is usually one of my own pet peeves! But I am returning this morning for one more go at a mix. Thanks for your listen, your thoughtful comment, and really happy you enjoyed.
It means a lot that you know my stuff enough to recognize this is new territory for me. I am happy you had a chance to listen and glad if it was working for you.
It has one of the rules that I pass every time I want to make some music ... Time ... its really necessary to put enough time on a work but I cant , I dont have enough time ... and i think the most , this is really good song in everything
She seems special in several ways. beautiful voice, musical, and apparently an astute business woman. I am happy to have heard back from her now in a positive way. Thanks, Trippy. Dan
Nice work, midisparks. I feel the vocals need to be brightened and the structure of the song might need some tweaking but other than that it's calming.
Very much appreciate these specific comments OViea901. What might be done to brighten vocal? What is your thought on structure? Thanks and have a good one! - Dan
I have to agree that this sounds very different from your usual work, and I felt this way after the first few bars. The vocal is a nice touch as well, but I find myself focusing on the music, which is of course massively better quality when compared to the vocal part. The vocals do have an old school vibe, partly due to the lower fidelity, which works in a jazzy sort of way. I would like to so the whole mix gently degraded with something such as tape saturation, tube dynamics processor, or even an old rack EQ - and then mixed back with vocals. I think it would bring it together with a nice old school vibe. Just a thought... music makes me do that sometimes, ha ha. I enjoyed the track a lot! Fave!
Hey Pat. Glad you had a chance to check this one out.
Yea - it was quite the departure for me. As far as vocal goes - there was some editing needed and working with a pre-recorded a capella is never ideal. Generally the reaction to her voice has been that it's sexy, nice.
I am looking for guitar or synth fills, then a new mixdown. What elements do you think would be needed for this to work in the club? I suppose we would ask the singer to record again against a track to get vocal up to par?
Any interest in taking this one the distance with me?
Soon as that voice came in I was transported to the cinema and the opening of a film!
Very different from your usual stuff.
Enjoyed now I'm going to watch the film.
Really happy you like the sound kingmadi. sometimes work falls into place without too much stress. I enjoyed working out the changes for this one. I am hoping my collab will take one more crack at mixing. Thanks again. Dan
Glad to hear it Magnetic! It's venturing into somewhat new territory for me. I am fortunate to have mindhiest collab on this one. A few final touches to go and we will call it a wrap. Regards - Dan
means a lot that you tune in to the changes. that's really my contribution here. she's got the voice for sure. thanks for stopping by Lank. See you round cyberhood. Dan
Wow, whoever this artist is, she has a great voice. Very soothing. It's too bad that she left the site. The track complements her voice really nice. I love the bass patterns and how you switch the bass sounds.
This makes me want to do a Dance track. It's been awhile for me. Really cool track man. Keep the music alive!
Thanks. Yea - her voice is sweet. Mindheist really felt the phrasing of my changes and that, along with his changing up the sounds, is working well. If my brave venture into this genre has inspired you I'm happy. Thanks again. Dan
hey dan , very nice what you have done with the synth. and it is better at 133 bpm. I know the vocals are hard to work with but you have done a great job. I know it is not finnished but it is very tight now, great job. let me know if you need anything from me.
thanks roland. i am liking the simplicity of the rhodes sound but not necessarily married to the other synth sounds although having some pluck in there seems dancy. pm coming. Dan
Thanks Burt. yea. i think it makes sense to build around what is available in the way of pellas on looperman rather than write something and figure out how to get a vocal into it. i'm feeling less intimated about writing with voice now that this one is under my belt.
Hello Dan,
I think you've done a wonderful job here.
You and mindheist are both very talented artist, I believe your talents is clearly evident in this track.
Really Well done to both of you.

I appreciate it Jamid. Having some fun messing with different synths and hopefully will land on some interesting sounds and effects when it is all said and done.
thanks for the listen. the chord progression took a minute but I'm happy with it. now for more variety with the synth, some effects, and some solos/fills! thanks again.
