What a surprising track! the beat is uncommon and really cool! I like when artists dare novelties, get off the beaten track! The minimalist approach assures a very relevant final depiction! Like this track! congrats!
Thanks budda. I had in my ear, to some degree, a techno dj that plays in my town about once a month. If my stuff is starting to sound like it would work on the floor, I'm stoked. Thanks. Dan
Thanks, Majid. It's fun and then the last few mixes it starts losing the excitement. You know what I mean. Better to leave it a little raw than "perfect" the mix - that's what I a am learning.
I offered you a hand and here is what was coming out of my poison kitchen.
Hope you can enjoy my work. Just some stereo fx and remixing and work on the drums and so on to make it sound in a way i like it. I am glad that you let me doing this. Thanks a lot Dan
It is def a different structure than my usual and I hope to build on this experience. But I am allowing myself now to fall back into weird land for a while! Thanks. Dan
Hello Dan
I am not the biggest fan of dance music at all but i think it work well the way you done it. It sounds nice, friendly and fresh.
I am on Jamids side and would have mixed it different. I don't mean things like changing the genre or so, just things like different stereo places, levels, eq things, some fx and so on. The vocals work really good with the music you created and the synth lines are really nice. If you want i could put a hand on it :) if not, no problem at all cause i enjoyed the listen just like it is.
Hey Midi, I really think you did a great job on this track. I fell in love with this vocal a few years back when FastFunghi released his version which was pretty amazing. (Whatever happened to FastFunghi?) The intro is perfectly constructed and builds nicely with careful arrangement. I think you laid out the vocal track very good to support a lot of music since it is a dance track. Your keys/synth are really good throughout, and the lead break is very tight. I agree with BLEEP that the drums and or bass appear a bit weak in the mix and if your looking to play this in clubs you might need to address that aspect. Maybe play around with the kick some and consider adding some sub bass because it may not be so much as drums but more the bass that's the issue. I have a few DJ friends who work some of the local clubs here in Dallas who I have pushed a few of my earlier electronic tracks on. They are very concerned with dynamics and the first thing they critique is (what they refer to as) the thump factor. So drums and bass need to be up to the task. Overall this is extremely well produced and quite an enjoyable listen. Great job man !
thank you so much for this review Neo. I am heading in the right direction on thump factor, I think. My classical roots resist this extreme aspect of production, but I'll get over it. Talk to you soon buddy.
thanks beatMaker. i enjoy working the harmonies around a good pella like this one of Stephanie. Hope to start cranking these out faster and continue polishing production. thanks for listen
thanks Orlando. I enjoy creating this kind of track. I think cranking them out now is a good idea in terms of polishing and refining my work in this genre. Not sure how/where these fit in the clubs but am gonna explore that for sure. regards - Dan
wow really nice vocals! On my speakers, the drums sound level is too low, the synth part stand out :) in fact the voice part, the synth part and the bass part are mixed at the same level but not the drums, it's difficult to hear the kick.
for a dance track, i guess it's not really a problem for listeners? i don't know, i rarely hear this music genre ^^
Except this small detail, the piece is magnificent!! congratulations Dan
Hi Dan,
I love the new look haircut and new headwear.
Wow what wonderful collaborative track.
I must say I do love the concept of it.
However, in my view I would have mixed it differently.
Dan, I’ve also sent you a PM about your gallery.
Please let me know if you wish me to procced with the idea?

Even its a basic production I love it, Nice work dear friend and Stephanie
I love the fact the fist part have no vocals its make the second part more epic.
Songs such as this really showcase your experience, training, and just plain talent when it comes to composition.
I have no idea what a fughetta, but I looked it up. So mainly it is a shorter fugue style. Is the contrapuntal side of things more strict in a fugue, or do they both share the same loose contrapuntal nature? Either way, that seems to be an excellent form of composition for your style! It seems to show up in your pieces a lot, and it is welcome. I know how challenging counterpoint can be for me personally, but I find it rewarding, and always interesting to listen to.
I could not seem to find any newer works of yours that I had not already commented on, but I enjoy digging deeper... like crate digging at a record store. I'm glad a I came upon this one. Composition, mix, and all else sounds great!
I knew this took me back somewhere I've been before ..... Emerson Lake and Palmer!
You might be to young to have heard of them.
I think my fave track by them would be lucky man which has a synth ending that blew us all away at the time. Probably sounds a little old hat now.
Hey Silverman. We used to get stoned after school and play air guitar (and saxophone for that matter) to Lucky Man and other EL&P songs. I'm from that day. Thanks for stopping by. Dan
Hi Dan,
Interesting piece of music: I don't find it "weird" at all.
For sure the "choice of notes" is not 100% conventional, but I think that the final result is pleasant to hear.
I specially liked the introduction of the "happy" (almost "bossa") part line as a contrast to the tension built by the other instruments.
Ciao, Domenico
Hi Domenico. I listen to these note cluster pieces so much I stop noticing how dissonant they are to most ears. I'm happy if that bass line gave u a little break! Thanks for the listen and comment. Dan
the beat variation make me think that it's a multi genre and not only a chill out track! really good work with a perfect acid touch. Can't say i'm fan but i don't dislike it, it's just special and fortunately, i was in a good mood when i listened to it lol
Glad you were in a good mood to deal with this ambiguous track! I hope to back into something more danceable in upcoming work. Thanks for taking a listen. Regards - Dan
A wild ride. you are slipping closer and closer into 12tone atonal my friend. great vibe, and reminds me of the Italian word for Witch which is Strega!
good work
Cru
I remember learning that word in my college Italian class. I like using note sets and some of the serial techniques. I'm so used to the result. I forget how strange this atonal stuff must sound to others. But glad some can appreciate. Thanks Cru.
Very cool and unique track Dan! It has a very interesting vibe to it. The old school analog synthesizer sounds were really fresh to hear too. I could see part of this track being used in a video game like Metroid. That's at least what comes to mind when first hearing it. It's a Fav. Truly nice work.
Thanks Shatner. I'm not a gamer. Would become obsessed I'm sure. Already addicted to Spades! I would like to bring in trance elements now and am working toward that for a new mix. Thanks again. Regards, Dan

I am wide open on this one to arrangement and mix, even shifting into trance instead of EDM.
It seems you have tried to PM me before as well - I did not receive any notification of a private message in my email.
Do you want to send me an email direct: midisparks@yahoo.com

Yea - I agree it makes the vocal entrance special. I might even extend the intro more -
Thanks again for track on FB contest. Not sure how we get people to the post for voting but it's all good!
