So, youre really strong in the kind of music you make. This is another fantastic track, with an amazing groove, so many layers of instruments, and an incredibly strong bass linehonestly, what can I say?
You could easily send this to the radio and have it played everywhere. Regards, Chris
Ah yes Kay/Oli! The flow of intuition is unmatched when we doing what we do. Thanks for the time taken for this listen. The compliments are received humbly.
You hit levels of complexity but with a pure mellowness that is aspirational. Great tune with some really cool parts and jazz intuitions. I love your work, it's really great.
As a drummer, the first thing I heard was beautiful drums. Steady, in (not simple) time absolutely. I re-listened to the track a few times because the first one always gives the wrong impression. Technically it sounds great, I was impressed with the final file like quality. I think I would put it in new jazz, so I justify the different passages from the instruments you added. I liked that the bass is often out of sync with the drums, this makes the piece of special technique. Congratulations. In general, it is a very good job.
LINEARFADE! Greetings. The detail you shared in your feedback is very helpful. I'm still learning and this type of track requires a lot of consideration for many different elements. It's also great to know a few listens was necessary to draw a fair conclusion. It's good to know this effort proved to be a decent listen.
Hello Mark, i aint been about for a bit but i knew what to expect here. its sounds absolutely great on my speakers, every instrument is so clear the space and arrangement, the flute is stellar mate the drums are fantastic too and that bass is fire, i assume this isn't the first cut judging the comments but if this the final cut, its not missing anything at all, this is a fabulous pice of work by one of our communities finest, great job mate
Thanks Paul. Welcome back from your mini hiatus. Most important, what you heard sounds good. You know over the years I prefer to lay out the ideas, improve on the ideas then bring everything come into full focus. Your stop is always a great thing.
Love the drum intro and the build. Fretless bass? What are you using for that? Drums sound amazing to me. Great composition. Damn, hit the download button but no go lol. All the best, Chris.
Greetings Chris. It's good you got a chance for the stop, compliments, and feedback. So the Fretless Beast is the Native Instruments Session Bassist Upright Bass. My personal favorite. The Drums, EZ Drummer 3 Jazz kit that I worked overtime to extract that jazz nectar out of it LOL!
Shoot me your e-mail. I'll be more than happy to gift you a copy.
Hej, Mark, second time around. Love this tune, maybe less verb on the guitar and a bit more on the flute, but that's just being pedantic at this point. just quality music, and it's put that OMG smile on my face. So there is so much right about this tune. I realize that I miss these complex jazz tunes. Gives me that Brain Buzz. ehh!
Steven! I appreciate your time and reevaluating what I got going on here. I'm at the fine tuning stage for this track. Per your suggestions, I'm making adjustments that will be apparent on the next update. Still I'm having a total blast, so I won't stop until It's just right. Stay tuned.
Greetings to theFlawlessApples! Thanks for the stop and listen. I greatly appreciate the feedback and sharing how this one translated. It's good you found this listen satisfying.
I never noticed the snare 1st time around but its stands out well now the drums have that real effect to them as all the instruments have, great job man its a great track :)
Cyberflares! Gratitude! I dont do perfection on the first round. My preference is get the ideas down then work out the details later. The feedback from my Looperpeople is what I vibe with. This music making business is too much fun! Lets keep it rolling!
Your stop is always treasured big time!
If jazz already seems complicated to me because of those technical difficulties, it's much more so when played without real instruments, using VSTs. Congratulations!
I need this level of perfection when it comes to programming beats. It's amazing what VSTs can do in the right hands. It can't get realer than this.
Enough respect, sir!
TrippleN97 your stop and compliments are highly appreciated. My goal has always been finding ways to make midi and VSTs fit with a high level of realism. It can be done but it takes time. Im glad you enjoyed my effort.
Hi Mark, everything's amazing here, as always! You're a real firebrand when it comes to catchy music. The use and execution of all the instruments is beyond reproach ... your rhythmic work is beyond any doubt.
However:
I have to say that at the beginning of the track, I immediately felt that the snare drum had way too much reverb.
I also think that the flute, which has a very prominent part in the middle, sounds a bit unbalanced ... kind of muffled.
Please don't misunderstand me... I'm worlds away from this kind of production, and my impressions are of course competely subjective, but you wanted to know what stands out. So here are my little comments, with the utmost respect.
Micky Greetings my friend. Its good for your stop and critique. Honestly one thing we share is that you and I agree on where things can be improved upon.
For example that snare you mentioned. I did the drum mix on Ableton 11. Then I flattened the drum mix and It sat on a drive for a few months. In comes Ableton 12 and I cant load the project. So Im stuck with a drum mix thats kinda too reverby. Just a couple of hours ago I deverbed the snare then LP the whole kit. The flute has been harmonized and Im going to make some adjustments with that.
Ill be uploading an update later today. Thanks for the sharp lookout. It aint right till its right!
So back in the nineties, my group of friends had a friend who was a drummer, and we would go on these adventures in Manhattan, never knowing how to properly dress. like going to Tramps and seeing Hot Tuna filled with Hells Angels. So this night we went to see Mike Stern at the Blue Note. We got there early in jeans and sweaters and grabbed the front table right in front of the Stage. As all the suits and ##### dresses filled the place, Mike came on, looked down on us, looked up at the audience, and gave a cool chuckle of acknowledgement that we were there for the music. I literally could have reached out and adjusted his pedals. Guitar neck was swinging over my head at times. Awesome show. Nice work as always, my friend
Steven! Now thats a top notch night out! Mike was up front and personal. Hes got this technique he uses with the first few bars in 4 then change to an odd time, then back to 4 with power dripping from every note!
Thanks for sharing your experience and taking time out for this listen. Have a wonderful weekend.
Hello Mark
What an amazing composition, with magical moments from every instrument in the band. The articulations and harmonies were used perfectly, resulting in a song of exceptional quality. No single instrument stood out alone, each played its part beautifully...the electric piano chords and rhythm, the bass lines, the enchanting flute, and the compelling drums, all so well performed and blended together. My compliments and admiration.
Best wishes, Anthony
Anthony thank you for the time taken for this listen. The fact that you throughly enjoyed my effort means a lot. Theres a few kinks to work on and ideas Im thinking about working in. Stay tuned.
Another absolute banger here, excellent! Jumping in and flowing with it lead to something beautiful. Love this one like I love the rest of your output!
