Sax used to be one of my least favorite instruments until I heard a couple of tracks that DanMed and 1Godfather did that changed my mind. I get my inspiration from unlikely places, Its impossible for me to overlook creativity, skill, or effort in any song. And this one clearly has all three. This is why I love music so much. Your song reminds me of something I heard in a movie years ago, I just cant yet remembe what it was. Anyway, I like it. Well done, sir.
Pnnywze! Greetings and welcome. DanMed and 1Godfather strategic placement of the saxophone in their tracks must be noted. Im in love with what we do. From drawing creativity from inspiration to the finished product, it gets no better.
Perhaps the movie this reminded you of is Whiplash. I kinda thought about that after finishing this. Because of the swing sections. Anyway your stop, comments, and musical perspective is refreshing.
BONEZONMARZ! Thanks for the visit. Im simply having a real blast with this rework. When I jump into a new learning curve, I experiment with my new plugins. Like the organ here. Ive always hated how it came out. But now Ive put that fire on it. Now Im happy. Your feedback is fuel for the fire. Youre sounding really good.
Kirkoid! Its wonderful hearing from you. Its been a while. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on what popped and what you found enjoyable. Ill definitely stop your way in a bit.
Greetings WesterlyGroove. With those ingredients mentioned, we can definitely make the trip! Thank you for the stop and feedback. Its an over the top honor!
JAIC! Grover is a hall of famer and the 70's was the period the music was unreal! Thanks for giving this on a listen. The compliments are received humbly.
Whoo!! Thanks for getting me back here! This is tight! You Slappin it down at 2:28. Do I hear a little Monk in here? Liked the smooth out and ending starting at 5:59 great production all around! A lot of cooking going on in this Pot to go along with that Funky Biscuit! Fila
Look Out FILA! Thank you for stopping by. It's been a minute. What we do is full on "Musicotherapy"! Tight is the challenge. Monk? Absolutely! It's funny how all the years of musical exposure creeps into our compositions. The high compliments and that you enjoyed my effort is highly appreciated. I'm looking forward to what you're cooking up my friend.
I can't believe it's taken me this long to listen to this, cause I always enjoy the trip. Amazing work, cram full of amazing ideas but still completely coherent. Astounding really.... Cheers Chris.
Great work Mark
everything is exceptionally well done, but your low-end is truly magnificent, mesmerizing..! Bravo to this beautiful band and your collaborators that give life to such amazing music.
Best regards, Anthony
Indieground. Thanks for stopping by and taking out time for this listen. The groove grabbed you properly which was the goal. The bassist is none other than Robert "Pee Wee" Hill.
Hi Mark, well, what more can I add to everything that's already been said... it was just so much fun listening to the track, and I couldn't sit still. If playing around with loops is an art, then you're a true master at it, that much is certain! I wouldn't even try to make a comparison, because for me, you're in a class of your own.
Greetings Micky. Your stop and critique is appreciated in a huge way. Having fun and the fact you couldn't sit still is the target. Dealing with loops for me is like when the recording engineer would cut and splice magnetic tape and more. Really like assembling a 5000 piece puzzle. And it must fit perfectly. As I've mentioned in the comments on another track, my aim is to make digital sound analogue and to make some interesting and lively music for the listeners.
DEMYBU! Thanks for stopping by. That Dad in the kitchen cooking with the fusion playing in the background! IT GETS NO BETTER THAN THAT! I appreciate the share!
ROB ROB! You know the FIX is the REMEDY LOL! It's over the top for your stop and critique of my everything bagel of a track! Get @ me, we gotta lots of chopping it up to do! ! It's really great hearing from you and the track hit just right.
WOW! Mark,
This is a super groovy track with a lot of twists and turns through out, it has a fantastic!! groove to it, had me moving, love when the keys come at around 1:50 and of course to seal the deal the brass work, music to my ears. Such a great! listen, you went all out with this. Bravo! Keep going & Stay Safe.
Super groovy stuff! Horn intro is capturing! Combination of wah clavs and bass is a solid direction for that funk sound alongside with the drums and other ambient sounds!
The piano section has such a smooth entrance followed by that sax too, whew! I'm digging this brother!
Rhodes reminds me of Herbie Hancock. That backbeat throughout is super solid and tight! And that guitar coming in with that key modulation down a half step was very sneaky, but didn't change the vibe at all!
MB! Its a pleasure to meet you on the Loop. Thanks for the time taken for this listen. Its also really great how you unpacked the track. All the way down to my guitar simitone move and the Herbs thrown in for good measure LOL! Im elated you enjoyed what you heard.
Greetings Dan. Thanks for your time and feedback. The one thing you mentioned is that the feeling is live. I wish that all I had to do is track. The keys are all midi, the saxophones are .wav loops. Dealing with loops is an actual science. And editing them is a beast. So the live vibe comes from everything from tuning to timing. Then setting every instrument in their prospective space. Ive chosen every sound you heard and worked everything to fit just right. I actually play the parts that are one of a kind. Thanks for your interest. Happy New Year to you and yours. Lets make 2026 the year we create some of the best music on the planet.
Peace,
Mark
