So we meet up again. I think I'll probably be answering your comments for a couple weeks! LOL
Anyways, I didn't have a title for this song so I just chose Rock-Made in Japan. More of a general comment, I suppose since a lot of our things in the USA come from Japan and China....music items as well.
Thanks for reviewing this country tune. Chicken pickin style takes a while to learn. Basically using at least 3 fingers, including the thumb and using a Fender Telecaster to get the best sound.
I love this style of music and will do another of this type after I finish the classic rock tune I have started.
I'll listen to your music and give a review(s) back as well.
Hey. This is so not my genre but I can really appreciate this tune. You've created a sweet and beautiful piece that is nothing but excellent. Thank you.
/pmk
Thanks for reviewing 3 of my tunes thus far. I am not on here as much as I was because of work. But that is fortunately slowing down....as far as overtime I mean....so I will have more time to devote to music.
If you read my profile, then you know I can play several instruments, and if you'll look at my gallery (Pictures) then you'll see the instruments as well.
I play a variety of music with my own style, and also with the big help of loops I piece together to make a song. I don't play nor own drums so I usually use these: www.betamonkeymusic.com
I am using Protools software as well and that puts everything together, and I usually also do my own mastering. Sort of a jack of all trades in the music end.
At the moment, I am working on a classic rock type of tune. Even tho I am OLD, I still love rock.
Later, and thanks again for reviewing my songs.
I hope you'll enjoy most of them.
Randy in NY
Thanks for your kind review. You'll notice that I only did one Techo-Trance type of tune..ha ha.
Not my normal type of tune, but wanted to try from my Korg M-3. Stuck a little extra in there as well. I'll check out your music now.
Randy
Hey Randy,Your stuff is consistently great!Nice drums and guitar sound, that"clean distortion"is good, the kind you don't have to cover up with more and you can actually hear the chords, very good.I have to keep visiting you and movin'through your songs.
Still exploring eh? Cool. I am at work now. Glad you liked the 'Guitar Hero's' tune. It was a fun one to make. To get the best sound and distinguishable notes, you have to pretty much make duplicate tracks of your instruments.
One track would be sent hard left and the other hard right. Mixing the 2 is called layering...to get a nice full sound. On one track you can keep it dry...meaning no reverb or effects...just basic.
On the other track, you put in the effects you want. Then play the tracks back and 'blend' the 2 together so you get the sound you want. So this way you can have distortion, but the clear track will cut thru and thus the 2 together will sound great...high distortion, yet you can still hear all the notes clearly.
You could also make a 3rd or more tracks of the same instrument, or say an acoustic guitar for a nice sound if appropriate, to add in another sound as well.
Ok....I will check out your page again and see what else you have there. I have been working 4 weeks now without a day off....so the music production is slow for me right now.
Hey Randy ..nice track man, sort of Latin Eurovision!lol..different style coming from you,as has been stated it could be expanded into a great tune..Spanish poprock,..Spanish Metal?..anyway nice one! ..cheers mate planet :)
Hello there Planet (Dave)
Thanks a lot for reviewing this tune. Vicen wanted to add vocals to it, so he did well.
I don't understand Spanish at all myself, but it sounds cool. Hope you are doing well. Myself...still working a lot of hours. 68 hours this week so far....so not as much time to make music now.
Later...and thanks again for the review. I'll have to get to your page and see what's new!.
Randy
I had to take my boots off and leave the horse at home for this one Randy, great sound quality and mix here,Big.Loved the guitars and the way the keys swirled around.I was gonna start a new song tonight but i'm to busy listening, how many songs you got?
Allen.
Well, the 'Chicken Pickin' style is what I really enjoy, and it takes a lot of practice to get it down right. Basically starting very slowly and playing with at least 3 fingers to get the rolls in.
Not quite so hard for me as I played 5-string banjo as well. I love Rock and some Blues a lot too.
I have 26 songs posted up so there is quite a bit of variety in my work. I need to work more keys into my songs as I have 2 Korg units here beside me.
Glad you enjoyed this tune.
You can also go here and listen to them and also see my equipment I use.....

Later friend,

Alright Randy, now you know I gotta put my boots and hat on and saddle up the Tele after this tasty slice of down home pickin'I did listen to this before but had to come back.First thing first you can play southern fried, second, you can play southern fried very well!Is there a difference between being inspired and just plain stealin'someones idea, they would string up(no pun intended)a guitar slinger for that wouldnt they?.Well I can't play pedal steel or slide,no fiddle and my son will probably refuse to create any country drums for me but other than that I aughta be good to go!
Great job,
Allen.
Hi Allen.
Looks like your getting into my music.....glad of that. I strive for quality...not quantity. I get my drum loop at www.betamonkeymusic.com or else I play them from the keyboard as I don't own any drums now.
I started to own a 9 piece white Ludwig drum set back in the 70's. But the person I got them from wanted them back.. as they missed playing them.
I am working on a 'Crunch' Rock tune now and then will get back to some more country pickin stuff.
Glad you liked this tune and I hope my music inspires you to play more. I am here all by myself!
Bye for now.........
Randy
Very Good!I love the different variations of Funk you got goin' on,I'm new here and almost gave up on playing until I found this community, everyone has been so welcoming and every day I find more wonderful artists like yourself.I'll be listening to more of your music. You know I played a Les Paul then switched to a Tele about 17yrs ago and never looked back, you really can make it sound any way you want.I wanted to introduce myself and complement your song and style.
Nice that you could get around to enjoy this site more. Yes, there is lots of good talent on here and some think I am one.. ;-) But I am an old guy...just turned 66 Sunday.
Anyways, I am glad you enjoyed my funky tune. It isn't particulary the type I like, but I have a lot of settings on my Korg M-3 that has these types of sounds....so I wanted to try a song in this genre.
If you read my profile, then you know a lot about me already. The Beatles I met in person in France, influenced me to learn guitar. From there I never looked back. Had my own band and did sound for others.
Now my power plant job won't let me play in a band because of the varied work hours....so I make music all myself using a combo of my instruments and loops using Pro Tools.
Presently, I own 4 Fender Telecasters. 2 of them are limited edition Buck Owens guitars...more for an investment.
If you want to hear some "Chicken pickin" tele sounds, then check out this tune I put together a short time ago. It is called 'Randy's Chicken Pickin'. I love that style and will do another.
Okay, take care and if you have any questions, let me know.
Thanks for listening and reviewing one of my tracks here. Guess the 'features' part throws up these songs now and again for a revisit, esp. for those who miss them the 1st. time around or more.
I am doing a 'Crunch Rock' type of tune now that you may also enjoy. Hope to have it up in a few days by my 66th birthday. ha ha.
Thanks again for listening...I'll check out and see what you have up as well.
very fine track!!!
though a little bit short, as Bill already said before ... ;-)
and I would say that the mix between vocals (which are very good!!!) and the music (which is also very good!!!) could be more balanced ... the vocals are not really "in" the song, they stand a little bit before it, if you know what I want to say ...
nevertheless it's a great track!!!
Thanks for you taking the time to listen to this short tune and give a review back. I agree with you 100% about the track.
The voices were added in and and sent to me, and I posted as is with no redoing by myself. So the voice does stand out more on top... looking-in.
I am working nearly 3 weeks now without time off and so I figured I wouldn't have time to properly rework the song for awhile.....so I felt it was good enough to send out as is.
So again thanks again for listening..I'll get over and see what else you have up that I haven't listened to before and review it. ;-)
Randy
Being of the Latin persuasion, you would bet your boots I was going to be here. Great track. Great guitar playing & vocals. Short & sweet....wish it was longer though. Fantastic nonetheless. Cheers - Bilbozo
Nice to hear from you. Been a long time for sure. I see you on Facebook as well, but I am not that active as many are in playing the Farmville game or the Mafia one.
Anyways, glad you got to listen to this revision. Your right about it being too short. 'Vicen' wanted to try it and so I told him to go ahead. Came out pretty well too I think.
I haven't done too many songs lately as I have been having a lot of overtime at work.
I am currently working on a Rock-Crunch type of tune. Has a blazing lead, but it is a loop this time.
Presently, I'll be working 3 weeks without a day off. So gotta get it while I can as a lot of folks are out of a job these days.
I'll stop over to your profile and check out what you have up as its been awhile. ;-)
Thanks for taking a listen to one of my country tunes. I am glad you enjoyed it.
I have a couple fairly new country tunes up with one that has 'chicken pickin' in it if your interested and the last one was actually a Waltz with my pedal steel.. Really cool stuff and not so easy to play.
Right now I am concentrating on a Rock-Crunch type of tune.
I'll check out your music and well and leave feedback.
Hi Vicen,
This tune is a little short unfortunately, but at the time, I couldn't think of anything else to put in it once I got up to speed. Glad you like it though.
Glad you enjoyed this track. I left you feedback and more on one of your 3 songs I just gave reviews on. Waltz's are usually slow, but not always.
If you go out and play in clubs, you'll eventually be asked to play one during the night.
what a drive!!!
I love the guitar sound here, so full and rich, awesome ...
there's a song by an Austrian singer which is called "with 66 life begins" (that's the english translation from the german title) ... you prove that phrase right ...
awesome my friend!!
Again I apologize for the delay in my response(s). I am glad you also enjoyed this tune. Since I have 2 Korg units here, I need to make use of them more, and that is what I am trying to do in my future tunes as I can.
I am not a great keyboard player by any means, but since I can do anything I want in 'slow-mo' and then speed it up to the proper tempo without degradation, it makes it much easier and anyone can do it.
So I haven't heard of that artist you mentioned. But 66 is just a number as I plan on keeping going for at leatst another 10 years if I can.
The next tune I am working on is a Crunch type with mostly guitar and some ideas I have had for a long time. Nothing spectacular, but have to get it out of my head. :-)
I'm completely blown away by the way you squeeze the notes out of your guitar ... you have an incredible tone in your playing ...
and this funky rhythms are something I love anyway!!!
great music ...
A little slow in getting back to you. Am glad you enjoyed this tune as it is a different than my normal songs. I wanted to try a funky mix as I have the keyboard that can do it and also gives me ideas for new tunes.
I will check out some more of yours and give feedback as well. I know a lot of artist are on Reverbnation, but I haven't gotten there yet. myself.
On Lafango (old Talenttrove name) I have over 156,000 plays now of my 26 tunes posted thus far.
hell yeah!!!
what a drive .... and your awesome playing ...
brilliant, simply brilliant!!
your tone, your technique ... years of experience that make me jealous and impatient ... but at least I know that real guitar players are like red wine ... so I'll get there some day!!!
thx for sharing this masterpiece Randy ...
faved!! (of course!)
So you found another one you like. Great!
Believe it or not, 'Chicken Pickin' style is my favorite, but it has taken me a long time to master it. I still have more to learn....and I will post another one soon.
It is basically using a pick or thumb pick and your other 2-3 fingers to play all the rest of the melody and chords at the same time.
When I play 5-string banjo...not so much lately, your using usually 3 fingers playing rolls forwards and backwards.
Pedal Steel is simuliar, and also Dobro that is featured in some of my Blues tunes.
Anyways glad you enjoyed this tune as well as the waltz.
As far as fine wine goes...I'll be 66 next month and I'm certainly becoming as aged wine. ha ha,
Randy!!!
long time no speak ... but here I am back again!!
and I'm very very happy to hear a wonderful piece of music from you ... this track is so beautiful, I hardly find the right words for it!!
all I can say is that I love it ...
Your right, it has been a long time since we wrote. I see you on Facebook tho still. I guess I am not that great on keeping in contact with everyone I know...so...sorry about me not writing either.
I am on FB, but not that active...playing in the Farmville or Mafia Wars games as most of my friends do.
I don't have that much time to do that these days.
Anyways, I am glad you enjoyed the waltz. I wasn't sure how it would go over as most waltzs tend to be fairly slow and possibly boring. I didn't want that to happen, so that is why there are quite a few different instruments playing.
I have gotten a quite a bit of feedback on it and all is good so far..so I am happy with that. Not sure what I'll do next...possibly another country one as I love the 'Chicken Pickin' sound and I have been practicing that technic lately on my Tele.
Also I have a desire to do another heavy rock tune as well. So we'll see...
Thanks again Rei, and glad your back! I'll now go over and see what you have up new.
