Wow. This seriously creeped me out and gave me chills. Nice job! How did you process the vocals? They sound so cool and I want to learn your technique.

Thankyou D3RELICT
Nice to know that you liked my work.

Ok, this is the way i done the vocal thing.
(I am not sure if i realy have any technique at all)
I work wit Magix Music Maker. Everything that isn´t a vst is "inbuild" stuff.

1 i made a easy "counting-out rhyme" that i wanted to use as refrain.
-- i piched it 7 tones up
-- i used a guitar stereo reverb on it
-- i used a chorus - quad low cut - slow speed - no bass at all
-- i used the Nubi3 vst Spinner and set it on - Panner

2 i recorded the vocals
-- i used the EQ to make a "Phone" sound
-- i used voice reverb - Main Hall

3 i duplicated parts of the vocals and placed them between the org vocals

4 i dublicated the refrain and place it a few times in another row

5 i used some vocal parts in another row on the "empty" places in the timeline
(so i had 3 rows - 1 vocals and refrain - 1 refrain on parts - and this 1 - together the timeline had at all places sounds. on some places 3 on others 2 and on others 1 sound)

6 i used the Spinner vst on that row where only vocals where on - i set it to Deep Chorus

7 i used EQ on the row with only refrain for "Phone" sound

8 i used the "Dasample" GlaceVerb vst and set it on 59FX Spectral Wind - on all 3 rows

9 i used the mixer for volume of the 3 rows and then

10 i mixed the 3 rows with all the FX into one stem - READY :)

Hope this helps you in a way

Nubi3 Spinner and Dasample GlaceVerb are free

omfg just looking at the lyrics itself makes it really disturbing! If you tried translating first the lyrics you got before making it into music, you are one tough bacon my friend! But if not, well lucky you! Imagine the situation happening at your neighborhood, hearing screams (if they still can cause y'know, they have the throats sliced)
Anyways, good job! This song has some huge potential on winning a halloween music contest cause it's creepy, and has a story at the same time. Good job!

A few days ago i saw this documentation from Sir Trevor McDonald at indiana deat row, on TV .... There i saw Frederick Baer the first time in my life. And i got so much respect for Sir Trevor you can only understand if you watch that. Hell, i couldn´t stand that! I have a little girl and i couldn´t stop thinking on how afull and extreme evil it must be to die this way ...... later i read phatkatz threat and start some little work with this dark strings from Funktastic. The result let my mind remember this story but i had forgoten the words and the names and so. So i googled it and found the side where "this words and only this interview" was on - like a sighn :) -
So i start working with them. translate them and sing/talk them and so on. But it wasn´t that evil and dark it had to be. Sounded like i found Frederick baer a "cool" guy but that wasn´t what i wanted to do. So started to "hide" the words and "take" the evil feeling in them ...... in a way

and right now, if you know the story and the words and listen to this music, it fits. It is so evil and dark like it should be

Thanks for the nice comment

Hey Orlando

You nailed it "uniquely spooky and disturbing" and made in a way that could scare Phatkatz. (it all starts here http://www.looperman.com/forum/thread/183960/halloween-track-challenge )
That was what i tryed to make.

Good to know that you think i done that

Thanks for the gentle comment and so on

Could you imagine having to live with what you've done! Proof that evil does exist. It's like the voices in his head haunting him for the rest of his days. And the psychological torture knowing you'll be caged until they kill you. I'd be afraid of what awaited. Excellent Joe! looking forward hearing the further developed version, this could get quite disturbing (even more than it already is!) So the words are the voices of his victims haunting him from the grave? Eerie!!! "Why Frederick? Why did you do this to us Frederick?"
joecramer
joecramer replied 4th Oct 2015 - 10 years ago
Every try to work on this one ends, right now, to something compleete different...... looks like this one wants to stay like it is :) but i will try it again for sure.
If someone wants to work with it, just ask for the stems.

In a way it sounds realy like the voices that haunting him by night, every night again and again.
Or like a kind of a church anywhere deep inside his mind where is no god and noone else inside. All holy and all human leav and left only shadows of sounds .....
But they could be also the voices that he heared while he did what he did.

I just tryed to make something scary for you and it ended with something that scares me too

But if you take it out of this Frederick Baer context, then it is (just) a nice deep dark soundscape that would fit in much 3D games and so on

Thanks for your kind words and all the dark insperation

hello Joe

this is very fine tune from you! I really like a lot the speed of it and the energy. I'd love to make my version of this tune if that's possible - it has a great potential. Are you available for collaboration on this one? I have just read comments below and I think I can try help you to get more clear mix and overall sound of this version. I still have in mind working on the 'Agent23' project that you have sent me earlier - maybe I could try those 2 ideas at some point in the very near future.

best greetings, Alex

Hello Alex

Sure, lets colab onece again.
Nice to hear that you believe this version has potential.
It just started as a kind of a fun production. Just trying to make it "different" and so i "played a lot with the stems around. Mostly make them faster and or lower and didn´t care to much the quality at all :) .......
I can send you for this project almost all stems you want/need, cause i have tryed to save all i done in dry and wet waves (this dosen´t happend often)
Maybe you didn´see it and or didn´t like it but i wrote some lyrics to this one. Right now i record some more clear vocals......

Just say what you want :)

And also this Agent 23 project, i realy love this track, so i would love to hear what you will do. Same thig, if you need any, just tell me

This was different for me, I am not very familiar with electro music but I found this quite interesting. I liked the background vocals. This reminds me of electronic new wave/club music from the mid 80's. I hear a bit of a NIN influence in there, maybe the vocals are making me think that.

Good to hear things are going well and that music is being created again. Well done!

Hey Wayne

Thanks for your nice comment. You are right if you think on 80´s electronic and wave music. Thats something where i came from (including punk and NDW).
But this NIN thing is realy an accident. To be honest, I did not realy have/had much with NIN on hat :)
I just tryed to sing in a style that fits to the music.

You are a creative guy Joe...always something a bit different and always interesting to hear what you come up with...nice groove to this one as it moves right along...your voice goes well with the music (reminds me just a little of Da Da Da by Trio)but you have a better beat happening...it is a little dark but I think that comes mainly from the choice of sounds and some of the effects, plus the perpetual groove of the drums...well done to you...keep on....Ed

joecramer replied 16th Sep 2015 - 10 years ago
What a gentle comment Ed :)

In a way the most things i make sounds a bit dark.
This one is realy very repetive and so it is in fact close to this Da DA DA one from Trio. Cool to know that i got a better beat :)
I never tryed to do something "normal" or maybe i tryed but never end with something close to normal. So you can be sure i will keep on doing music in that way.

Thanks for the friendly words. Realy nice to hear things like that from a real musican like you.

For some reason I wanted to listen to some music to see what was goin' 'round. So I started with the tracks tab to find out how to look up songs in a specific genre and I came to this one at the top of song list that it brings up when you haven't specified anything. Imagine my surprise to see your name when I just came from the funny song thread. So I gave it a listen and it was really good, I like your voice and I liked the overall impression of a wacked out song. Vic

Your voice is strangely captivating to my ears haha. I like the effects you applied to the vocal. The music is driving but not aggressive, which I appreciate. Reminds me of a good ol' 80s song haha. Kudos on this one!

Hello Epic

This is almost a good old 80´s song :)
A part of the beat is a clasic EBM one (in a way)
And the vocals are a minimal version of a 80´s track made by a friend and me :)

Nice to know that my voice can hold you by your ears

I love the snap on the snare. good mix. Reminds me of the old mantra used "Rap music all night long" that was spoken in some dance tunes in the early nineties. Though this comes across as a much creepier version. Very Dark tune and I agree with you it's cool.

There are a few "bad" things in the mix but nothing that cant be changed, it´s still in progress and some of the problems are just a result of makeing a downmix from all steems and all efects in one go :) tomuch for my old computer.

hello Joe:) this is really a beautiful one. it reminded me of some songs from an old LP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GC_OEOH6Xk and I think this is really a folk genre.
I think the arrangement is too, let us say modern, especially the drums are too busy. At least to me. I liked the bonus one better and the simplicity of it.
Best to you, Alex

Very comforting song in it's idealism... I think you've expressed yourself very effectively here. Your vocals sound very vintage in a good way. I don't care about genres too much, but if this is folk, it is probably a new kind of folk. The second version is an interesting change for sure. I think it's a lot more folk (and possible better) without the pads and drums... but that is just me. I like all of this offering, faved!

joecramer replied 25th Jul 2015 - 10 years ago

I am delighted that you have written on these two songs a comment here. Cause you're the real reason why I did these two versions

as you have probably noticed, these are about the same text as the one I've used for cooperation with Phatkatz.
http://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/167958
you wrote a commentary on it and I answered that it is actually the text of a positive song and that I will maybe even make a different version
and as I had found the guitar, everything was clear.
that fits

as seen, there are now three versions and I think all good
and this is very rarely the case. mostly disappear from the scene two. there remains only one. Here it's different.

First, I had posted the track under drum and bass but that's also funny. but the bonus song was clearly folk.
therefore it's okay

I had two voices for the second version
and that sounded almost like Simon and Garfunkel LOL

thanks for the time that you take and thanks for the fav

Almost every time some ultra-special from your kitchen, Joe...
And I think that your extra twists on vocals always add the most to that level of specialty....so it's no wonder that it pisses me off when some creatures...wolfs for example, just don't dig the concept those vocals are assigned to...:)

Nothing is wrong with the vocals :)
It is a kind of a "running Joke".

Phatkatz opend last year a - lets make some things around zombies - thread. http://www.looperman.com/forum/thread/182429/looperman-zombie-apocalypse
In that case i created this -the thinking zombie- one.

I have to ask LOL!! Is it necrophilia if they're still moving? Can Zombies get pregnant? I know in one of the Dawn of the dead movies a zombie gave birth but I think she was pregnant before becoming a zombie. I have never heard of zombies starving to death! Good question!! Do they go to the bathroom too? All that brain meat they eat, what happens to it? In world war Z they freeze solid when they go north into the frozen lands but thaw in the warmer summer months. Great questions!! We're f*kd!
