What stays with me is how patiently this begins: nearly a second and a half of almost nothing, then the drone eases in so slowly you are inside it before you notice. The vinyl crackle underneath and the birdsong on top give it two temperatures at once, and the pads never rush toward a melody, they just keep changing the weather. The ending is the real craft, though. In its last stretch it steps back and back, about fifty decibels of letting go, until only the birds and the hiss remain, and then even those go. Most tracks on here slam the door shut. Yours closes it softly, and for a piece this personal that is the right ending. One small thing: the opening is so quiet that a first-time listener might think the player did not start. I would keep it exactly as it is. It made me lean in. Strong work.
