Description : I've made a ton of music the past couple years but haven't posted or done much of anything with it. Now it's time. I'm working with Sunny War, a great singer and blues guitarist who I met while she was busking on Venice Beach, on a protest album called APOCALYPSE. I write the songs and orchestrate with loops, then Sunny does her thing in the studio. Sometimes we'll leave some or all of the loops, sometimes they all go. For this one I used only two drum loops. Sunny did the rest - vocals and bass, rhythm and lead guitars. (She's pretty amazing.) I had to select a genre so I selected "Rock" but I think of this style as psychedelic blues funk rock. I'd very much appreciate your feedback.

Hey MrMofo, very very very cool! Love the Doorish vibe throughout (please excuse the comparison but from the very first note this dripped with the Lizard King's influence ) Sunny War has indeed some superb guitar licks and vocals, a talented lass! speaking of which they are placed perfectly within the mix ..totally awesome that this collaboration started at the famed Venice Beach, which unsurprisingly is where The Doors cut their teeth, it's always a pleasure to witness genuine talent and I suspect with your less than fragile eggshell like mind you'll both deliver some outstanding work together, you have just made another fan!...cheers Dave/Planetjazzbass :)
Hey Dave, I appreciate your comments very much, especially as I've used and admired your loops many's the time over the years. Believe me I'll take the Doors comparison - I'll take it away and cuddle with it for a while with a dreamy smile. And yeah that day on Venice Beach was a life-changer. I needed a singer, and the universe provided. The universe is usually kicking me in the nuts and laughing maniacally ... but now I have to say we're even.
This really is an excellent, sumptuous, classy piece of music. Sunny War is a very talented singer and blues guitarist. Even just the first second of this is great, really hitting the sweet emotional spot.
I will return to do a much more comprehensive review later as I'm in a bit of a rush now.
Great work and I look for ward to the Sunny War + you album.
Thanks, StaticNomad. Sunny truly is something special. She amazes me every time in our sessions, her easy brilliance whether it's bass or rhythm or lead guitar, folk or blues or psychedelic or rock. And yes her singing is just as awesome although she doesn't think of herself as a singer. The vibrato she uses takes tremendous control so she stands stock still when she sings. I'm grabbing ahold of this moment and we're actually doing 3 albums back to back, APOCALYPSE, HELP and TRIBE. 10 songs each. About half recorded, couple more to write. It's the most joy I've had in years.
I don`t think we should even think about genres when we`re trying to create so you can pick any genre you like and I`ll still think its one hell of a fine piece of musical art CitizenMofo..Rock works fine...You`re right...the lady is one big talent..and she takes us for a great musical ride without much in the way of key changes...that takes talent and isn`t often accomplished in loop land..
her guitar and vocal delivery do the trick nicely...fab job by both of you..really enjoyed the listen.big fav & a standing ovation from this old guitar guy..more please...Ed
Thanks, Ed. Means a lot coming from you. For an old guitar guy, you sure put out some juicy sounds. I just posted another one called "Working On It", which started with one of your loops as the driving rhythm engine that called forth the song. Please check it out. I'll be posting a lot over the coming weeks. Been busy.
Thank you, crucethus. Yeah, Sunny's tone, talent and skill are pretty amazing to me, forcing me to up my game as a songwriter. She noodles around a bit and then we usually get the keeper on the 2nd take. She goes out for a smoke and me and the engineer just stare at each other, like - "Really? That can be done?" So I feel very lucky these days.

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : This song was not supposed to be the fourth track of "Diverse waves", but it finally is. Anyway it's a rock oriented track with some interesting sounds. I hope you like it. Worked in zenbeats DAW, by Roland.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
