The guy on vocals seriously needs to do more, he is absolutely excellent. I mean, the whole track is top notch, but the vocals for me are just class and give the whole sound such an edge.

I can't praise it highly enough, this is some of the best music I've heard in a long time, and I'm so pleased I stumbled across it.

Hats off, and thank you for sharing :)

Thanks so much for your kind words. The guy on vocals is our drummer, Scott. He just started with vocals, so he will appreciate your comment.

Was his last name Dover? I kid ;-0

So this is a hybrid of Disco (4 to the floor beat for the most part) and the occasional wakka guitar and a moving bassline, but the Robbie Robertson like vocal approach the guitar soloing (phenomenal) and the bluesy edge make me feel this is a less of a true "Disco" song so we will create a new Blues-Disco hybrid we will call Blissco from now on? See if that catches hold. Otherwise a magnificient listen and production was awesome. Fav'd for sure

    Hey Cru,

LOL, his last name could be Dover, 'but that's all I know about him!'

Yeah, sometimes it's hard to select a genre with the limited selections here on LM. It's usually moot, anyway, because different people hear different things. When someone notices something, like you noticing the Robbie Robertson approach, I say, "yeah, it does sound like that." Midiman suggested Charlie Daniels, and it does sound a bit like him. I hadn't noticed either of these till it was mentioned. Funny how that works.

Anyway, thanks for your kind words; always appreciated.

I read that the vocal track was Scott and now I'm mad. He has been holding out by not singing earlier? ok, so he talking, lets not split hairs. ha

This is awesome guys! Great job Kenny, you rock! I like story songs and Scott did a great job telling one. The Sax, guitar and keys work so well together. Feels more like r and b and funk during the disco. The bass is the backbone to this one, as it should be!! The mix is always top notch.

Must have listened to this about 7 times, off to dl, thanks!

    Hi Wayne,

Yep, that's Scott! He's a bit self conscience about his vocalizing, but says he'll do more if it calls for it since it's gotten a good response on this one.

The guys all appreciate your always kind words. We're all setting up for our next track. Thanks again.

As soon as I heard the first few bars I instantly thought of Parliament with a twist of Brand New Heavies as it captures funk/Disco with some lovable essence.

Was waiting for a lush female chorus hook..but that's what was going thru my head:)

Awesome & so nice to comeback after so many months to hear sweet talent from other members.

Thankyou for making this downloadable, its in my car as of today plus a fav as it truly deserves.

    Best Wishes,

Dang, that bass is FIRE! Fun listen. Absolutely adored the whole piece. Whose VOICE is that? so deep and intriguing. Great work on the production! Very professional throughout. Keys were a fun and attractive addition! Your new lead guitarist compliments the band beautifully as well.

Thanks so much, Brado. So glad you like it. The vocals is our drummer, Scott Burkholder. He can't sing, but he can talk, LOL! Yes, Kenny did a fine job first time with us.

Said he kissed the devil's daughter
And left her heart aflame
And when the devil said, "marry her"
He said, "ain't this a shame"
I ain't never had no apple pie
And I ain't never heard the blues
It's a long time before I die
And I ain't payin' no dues

Said his name was Ben
And that's all I know about him
Said his name was Ben
And that's all I know about him

He got into a card game
Brought some aces of his own
And they bet and raise, and bet and raised
Till just two men stood alone
And the man that bet against him
Grinned with a gold tooth that shown
I got a full house, aces open
"Sorry" he said, "Aces to the bone"
And nobody thought it was funny
But guess who rode home with the money

Said his name was Ben
And that's all I know about him
Said his name was Ben
And that's all I know about him

it was late one night in New York
That he went into a disco
Wore a red suit and a green hat
And just a yellow shammy covered his big toe
He snapped his finger, and pointed to his feet
And the dance floor cleared
he stood alone, with no one to compete

Said his name was Ben
And that's all I know about him
Said his name was Ben

Description : This is a kind of funk-disco-big band number that will make you think of the 70s and 80s, if you're old enough. It has all those vintage sounds so popular in this genre. I tried to maintain the sounds of the time while still enabling some updating. Even if you had never liked disco, give this one a try. It may surprise you.

Description : Wanted to create a Kraftwerk meets Disco meets minimal track. The result? Lo-fi goodness :) Drums and percussion are programmed except for the 1 fill. Synth are combined loops and MIDI. Comments welcome as per usual. *NEW UPDATE* I edited the ending of this track. Some suggested the final section didn't fit with the rest of the track. At first I left it but then I agreed that it didnt seem to fit.
