Description : This is a blend of traditional and acid jazz including some trumpet rides reminiscent to later Miles Davis styles. I'd like to welcome a good friend and GREAT pianist, Damian Volstock, who I did studio work with in Alabama, many moons ago. If you're a jazz fan, give this one a spin.

I dont know about any of you guys. But jazz always sounds like pure improv to me. It's got just something special about it that sepereates it from other genres. Ohh well. Loved this track and the vintage type sound the mixing gave it sounds really good ! God I love how it drops into the funkieness around 1:40 for a few seconds :) this is awesome. Dam after 3:24 it gets even more funky !! Love the melody . you could almost make this section another song all together !

    Hi Livingsoulsdie,

Yes, some jazz styles have a lot of improvisation. Some are a bit more structured other than the lead rides, but I digress.

Anyway, really glad you like it and took time to comment.

    Cheers,

Bravo Scott.....I'm really enjoying this jazzy adventure of yours. So many interesting and lively elements in this track which is truly a successful mixture of classical jazz and acid jazzz. Good choice of instruments forming broad spectrum from naughty sax sounds to great piano soloing!
Nice trumpets as well and some excellent drumming. Several transitions are also very clever and effective! Faved!!

Impressive beginning and it only got better when the bass kicked in. I listened to this a few times and "wow!" just keeps popping into my thoughts! Loved the muted trumpet, the trumpet player in my old band would use his from time to time, it always made me smile. Are these real musicians playing bass, horns, flute? It doesn't sound like plugins to me. You have some talented friends my talented friend!

Top notch, one of the best jazz songs I've heard on the site. Great song Scott, keys were sweet all the way through and a nice variety. Always a pleasure!

Description : This song highlights a few different styles of jazz. First it starts with a kinda early 20s and 30s groove. Than it melds into a New Orleans style. Than into a sort of Maynard Ferguson big band jazz/rock groove, and finishing off with the 20s and 30s style again, all held together with some cool horns and bass. All n all, it's...Pretty Cool! Hope you like

Description : Do not freak out just because this is jazz! There's also blues, rock, funk and a little hip hop in it to break up the deep, chillout jazz sections - gets particularly rocking then funky at the end. Main bassline (the track's foundation) is recycled leftover slide resonator guitar parts detuned one octave to make a slide bass sound. Also features: piano, violin, hammered dulcimer, organ, ethereal pad guitar, bass guitar, jazz/blues/rock electric guitar and multiple programmed acoustic drumkits. This was difficult to make at times as I thought I needed more leads parts eg from sax or trumpet. But I'm happyish with the end result. I expect very little interest in this as it's both jazz and long jazz. But it's also an unusual type of genre-mixing jazz. So, leave your thoughts, good or bad, if you like...

Description : This track contains only free loops from Stayonbeat.com and several loops from Looperman artists (listed below). I "made a promise" that my next track will be use a lot of jazzy loops - well, i done with this track, for the great sadness of jazz lovers or experts i think - i fear they will never forgive me. :) While my ISP launches my internet out of the Earth system for a long time, i had to face the fact that i dont have too much downloaded jazz loops on my computer, so i think no wonder that this one is sounds like if i smoke some marihuana while making it. But hey, who cares, i like the result - it reminds me the (maybe only) really funny episode of "Breaking Bad", where Pinkman uses some heroin and flyes up with an idiotic smile on his face - that chapter is priceless. :D
I dont think this one needs a vocal, but ofcourse you can use it if you want, and as always, just write and i will give any support as i can. Any feedback welcomed too as always. Enjoy! UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Description : Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. This particular piano arrangement is from one of jazz sheet piano books I found on scribd. The electric piano is MrRay22 plugin which I played on Casio CDP220 digital piano. This is also a new piece that I learned today so it was quite tricky to get a proper touch at places and overall make the entire thing sound anywhere realistic. I tried many times and this was probably the best take. Also I am relatively new to playing latin piano music. I didn't manipulate any notes after recording - instead I added few virtual vintage amps. I choose jazz but it is a bossa nova latin style. Enjoy and feel free to comment and download.

Description : "Oh no - not jazz metal! You're not supposed to mix those genres together." Yes, but someone's got to and the musical gods have chosen me for the difficult task. 9 mins of instrumental jazz metal - damn I sure know how to write a hit song - US No 1 here I come. Anyway - there's some dark, swinging groovy jazz, with Rhodes and guitar as the main instruments, for a few minutes and then some haunting, thumping evil breaks loose. Look out for the powerful synth horn sound. And then it just gets heavier and heavier before returning to some nice chillgroove funky mystery jazz. Instruments played and/or programmed: electric guitar, bass guitar, electric cello, multiple programmed acoustic drumkits, filtered strings, Rhodes, big synth bass, evil synth horn and a few other assorted synths. I assume this has too much jazz for metallers and too much metal for jazzers. So, only for weirdoes like me who enjoy both. This will surely be too odd for most people but I like to think it's pretty interesting and powerful. Let me know how its weirdness worked for you...
