Dave, I swear this reminds me of George Clinton's Band Parliament/Funkadelic. You got all the right parts including the funky bass. Love that dark piano, it cuts right through everything with authoritative presence.

A very melodic funk with a purpose. An amazing journey. Great amp effects! Did you do that reverse effect? Well it sounds like a funky party I would of loved to have been a part of. The brass is so Jazzy man.

All in all a solid 10 if the funk heavens man. But I swear you got the George Clinton P-funk nailed and then you brought it to an entirely new level. You got my Funky stamp of approval and not that you need it. This is awesome all on its own.

    Well done!

Nice guitar work, all the little swirly synth bits too! Cool riff when that sustained piano come in, like that a lot. So many sounds effortlessly drifting in and out give it that great psychedelic funk vibe. Awesome collab, I enjoyed listening to that! :)

    Hey Dave

Your bass playing never ceases to amaze!! This is s virtuoso performance of some considerable worth. You and your partner Zappo are just having a "conversation" and it punctuated by the Miles Davis style trumpet part that fits so nicely. That rhythm guitar riffing is lovely and syncopates with the kit and your bass perfectly.

We MUST do a collab SOON!

Great stuff Dave. It's a breath of fresh air here on the Loop.

per ususal, you are an inspiration to the rest of the loop. I love the way you mix your bass guitar in with your work, with the stereo panning and whatnot. really makes it sound nice and large, and fitting.

makes me want to stick around this spot :) glad to see you're still active. it really does make my heart warm up a bit. cheers, dave :) maybe I'll send you a project for you to rip bass or guitar over soon!

Pretty tasty piece of music guys, wouldn't expect anything else really. Big mix, everything shines through cleanly. Some cool reversed guitar.? Keys were splendid especially liked the piano, nice choice of different keys, well played and mixed in. Bass, outstanding as usual pal! The horns were a cool add, reverb puts them in the mix well.

Great overall feel to the track, first one of the day for me, got me movin' and groovin'!

Hope all is well in the land of Oz!

Hey Wayne, thanks buddy, your comments are very much appreciated mate! been using an outboard processor for all my reverbs now (Lexicon MX400)and it seems to be working out well, the added benefit is no accrued vst load on my computer's cpu,the trouble with out board gear is it can get pretty pricey as you well know,I want an Avalon 757,U5 etc etc next....I need heaps of spondula! lol..don't we all! cheers mate Dave :)

...and you top the whole production off by managing to get that elusive live sound...not much to say Dave...just total funky goodness (with a wee sprinkle of jazz) that sounds great..appreciate the intricacy of the mix...the funky rhythm guitar...the bass that is always something special in your compositions...the extra tasty chords backing the event..the hammond style organ with a bit of key attack...hell..its all just good...I have been royally entertained this evening....bravo...Ed

This is really beautiful music. So many instruments, yet everything blends so well. I was especially thrilled by the trumpet starting at 05:07. Very deep.

    Reply by Planetjazzbass

Hey LosCoz thanks man!..Detlef(Zappo) has a fantastic feel to his brass playing via his midi keyboard and trumpet vst's,you'd swear he'd been playing in a horn section for years...again thank you very much for the kind words! cheers Dave and Detlef :)

So I played this last night and needed a few hours to absorb what I just listened too. Fantastic work. The arrangement, the instruments the production, the composition itself, the instrument choices all brilliant in there execution. The sustained low piano notes lend a nice ominous effect on the tune. I liked that as well as the space (rotary?) Hammond organ. Reverse guitars reminded me a bit of Phil Manzanera and your Bass was sublime and funky. Fav'd and downloaded (TY)

Hey Steve thanks man!..I'm not sure exactly what vst's Zappo uses with his midi keyboard, though I'm thinking your spot on with the Hammond rotary....I always really dig his instrumentation especially the horn parts he plays, you'd be stretching to improve on them with a real horn section!...thanks again for your kind words mate..cheers Dave and Detlef. :)

    hello Dave,

this is really a great collaboration! The tone of your bass is full of harmonics and space, I really enjoy that a lot. Playing is so fine and it gets even more funky around 4:10 when using more slappy technique. Zappo's multiinstrumental work is impressive as always. Great music!

    Best to you, Alex

    Reply by Planetjazzbass

Thanks Alex!...I've always found funky style fun to play,I guess it was a pretty popular genre back in the day,and people still like it today it seems! lol...I saw Tower of Power in Paris back in the 70's,they were great with a big horn presence in the choruses, funk will never go out of fashion I think (and hope)..all the best Dave and Detlef :)

IMAGES OF THE PAST!!! You are not kidding Dave, this reminds me of George Clinton's P-Funkalicious Parliament/Funkadelic's 70s style Funk. I don't think there is a more Funkier Bass on this entire site than yours. Amazing finger work, geez!

You and Zappo are an amazing funky team. Start to finish a real Funky treat which had me out of my seat. Those guitar fxs blew me away. The keys compliments that funky thumping bass. I really don't get to hear great songs until you, wayne, bear or slap does something. This was truly damn funky and the best thing I've heard from you! I mean you guys kept it funky. You never strayed off the funk for one second.

I am proud of you guys for what is worth for doing funky songs like this!!! It puts a smile on my face and a stride in my glide! Thanks, must download it! Cheers, Joe!

Hey Joe,thanks mate..it means a lot coming from a true stalwart of Funk like yourself,if you've ever moved your feet to modern music you've probably been affected by funk to some degree...Detlef and I are no exceptions,in many ways funk is more solidly entrenched than rock&roll in our makeup and why wouldn't it be it's fun, fun, fun to play! thanks again mate..cheers Detlef and Dave ;)
